After a few minutes of walking through the dying city, they reached their destination.
The tavern was uh good looking in a way, and it was just that there are many dying people of all ages near the place as if this were some sanctuary that protected them.
The large number of undead corpses that littered the edges of this area further enforced that idea. A woman with a sad look was busy healing the people there.
She wore a golden circlet on her head with her short brown hair tidy and tied, purple vest and skirt, skin-tight grey long sleeves, and thin almost see-through slacks, making it obvious that she was more than ready to join the fight any given a chance.
Oddly enough, despite the location, she had European features, with the right curves too, but her eyes had dark circles due to lack of sleep and stress.
Upon Seeing Walter and Trisha, the woman shed a single tear before wiping it off as she attempted to introduce herself.
"You'll forgive me if I seem upset."
She exhaled slowly before giving the two a look of gratitude for allowing her some time to collect herself before continuing.
"I've suffered a loss recently, but that's not your problem... It's a relief to see some proper warriors come through here."
She straightened out her outfit then introduced herself.
"My name is Atma. I run the tavern here in Lut Gholein."
Walter was about to meet the introduction with his own, but Trisha beat him to it.
"I am called Trisha. This man here is my Gufta Walter, the Lord of Gholein, sent us here to help you with whatever tasks that need to be done!"
Walter frowned for two reasons one, she friggin interrupted his Introduction, and two, the sense of hastiness in her words was obvious for all to hear as it made him feel embarrassed due to why she was doing this.
She wanted to Cash in on the damn promise!
Walter would've been more than happy to oblige in normal circumstances, but the problems that the rogues that came with them were currently suffering from prevented him from even allowing his mind to steer that way.
If that wasn't hard enough, something within him was egging him on to head out of the city towards the north, and this wasn't the pleasant kind either. It was more of, head there when you can handle it, or something WILL happen to this city kind of vibe.
Brr!
Walter shook away the sudden shiver the crept down his spine only to be dragged along again by Trisha. As it turns out, she went ahead and accepted the task at hand.
They were heading to the sewers, and Walter thanked god for having Trisha explain along the way what they are doing here!
Radament is a greater mummy, according to the reports gathered from the survivors, but thanks to him being left alone for so long, he had amassed an army of undead to protect him since the last time they tried killing him.
It was over 9000! that was what the last person reported that had an odd smile while muttering something about a 'me-me' or whatever along those lines.
As Trisha told him this, black lines began to form on Walter's forehead as he was sure that he heard something oddly familiar in the report, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it...
But upon seeing that they were about to enter the sewers, Walter's face scrunched up a lot.
As he looked at his partner that was more than eager to do this, the man halted, causing the rogue to stop as she looked at him in confusion.
"what? what's wrong?"
His left brow twitched at her question before asking her something else.
"by any chance, is there another route that we can take? like, let's say a shorter and closer one?"
Little did the shortcut-seeking man know that...
He just shot himself in the foot for that!
Trisha blinked a few times before Answering.
"Yeah, but why would you want to take that route? that would be too-"
Walter, who just wanted to get this done, cut her off and egged her on.
"Let's take that route! besides, we'll also be able to help these people sooner!"
While his intentions weren't necessarily what Trisha believed it to be she trusted him.
Thus with a resolved look, She looked to him, grabbed him by the head with both hands, and kissed him.
Someone who was willing to give up their own dignity to save people was praiseworthy, especially at times like these!
Due to his surprise, Walter froze in place as his brain short-circuited from the sneaky move that the rogue made.
She licked her lips before smiling brightly, then dragged the man that was still in a daze to the second entry.
One reason why no one dared to use this area to enter was one significant reason.
this was the city's main latrine facility...
Meaning to get to Radament, they had to dive and swim through a good portion of human waste.
One note to remember, water is hard to come by unless you are a water mage in this city!
Walter attempted multiple times to explain that he changed his mind about using this route, however, thanks to Trisha believing that her Gufta was THAT eager to fulfill his promise.
Most of his words went through one ear, then out the other.
All while sporting a crazed smile, the rogue 'helped' Walter jump in before quickly joining him.
*the trip has been omitted due to the numerous objects that mustn't be described*
At the second level of the sewers, a man and a woman had emerged from the sewage covered in all sorts of questionable things.
The area that they were in was clear of any undead. Thus both of them emptied their stomachs thanks to swallowing some unavoidable stuff.
Walter immediately summoned Hairy, who made a scrunched-up face thanks to how bad they smelled, before quickly casting a water spell to wash them off.
The summoner, in particular, was scrubbing himself as best as he could, trying to remove the turd that was in his hair as he was beyond grossed out by all of this.
But he had no one else to blame other than himself for cutting off Trisha when she tried to tell him all of that earlier, So Walter made a mental note.
NEVER AGAIN will he skip the detail, nor will he ever take such a route!
His body shuddered in disgust as he hurled once more thanks to still tasting something that will be hard to forget!
Trisha was doing a lot better than him, mostly due to the fact that her magic helped prevent any of the stuff from entering inside of her clothes, completely forgetting the fact that Walter had no idea on how to do such things yet.
It took nearly an hour to thoroughly clean Walter off completely before they started to hear undead groans in the distance.
Walter was as angry as he was, the man immediately summoned all of his monsters and said this with words laced in venomous hate.
"KILL THEM ALL!"
As his words echoed out, thousands of undead crawled out of the sewage, and more of them from the other areas came rushing to their location.
But Walter didn't care about all of this since this was the perfect time to test out one ability that Jabawock left him.
So he raised his hand that began to glow in a bluish hue before suddenly clenching it as not only did he feel a sudden connection with a hundred or so undead but also the strain of forcefully seizing the units of an enemy.
The ability guzzled down his mana 10 points per minute at first, but then the owner of the seized monsters was now trying to take back his troops as they fought for control, suddenly increasing the cost by double to maintain his control!
Thanks to his sloppy attempt, a mouth formed on Walter's palm then a familiar voice chided him as Trisha, firing arrows, shivered in fear thanks to remembering the atrocities the owner of the voice made her sister endure!
"You suck! seriously little brother, when seizing something, make sure to sever the connection they have with their previous owners, or it'll bite you in the ass!"
Walter yelled back due to the strain that he was enduring right now!
"WHAT DID YOU EXPECT!? THIS IS MY FIRST TIME DOING THIS WITH NO FUCKING MANUAL TO FOLLOW, AND WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO TO MY HAND!?"
The mouth on his palm formed a grin before mentioning something disturbing.
"be glad that your body is currently weakened right now, Or I would've retaken control!"
While Walter was distracted, some of the burning undead mages fired their spells at him, But Berhald, who was standing guard, moved to block the attack with his spear and body.
Before one purple undead that was larger than the rest emerged from behind the army of these monsters as it looked at Walter, no, at his body with a coveting gaze as its raspy voice boomed out.
"We live... AGAIN"
Then he pointed towards the summoner while relaying his order!
"Kill them, and bring me his corpse! I-NEED-THAT-CORPSE!"
Upon hearing this, Trisha couldn't help but add.
"My dear Gufta, Looks like your looks finally transcended genders, and now a mummy wants you!"
Walter looked at Trisha with a stoic look then stated.
"When we are done with this, you are so gonna get it!"
