Chapter 18 - How Does She Feel? (Edgar's POV)

I felt a sudden rush of adrenaline fill my body. My stomach was in knots and my eyes gleamed with excitement. Then, I felt something else. Something sweet and innocent. It was like being in a meadow of wildflowers and soft creatures. I felt her happiness. Why was she so happy just now? I looked up to see an exquisite Bella, with her hand over her mouth, giggling. She was blushing too. She then looked away in embarrassment. I wanted to hug her, so I took a step forward. I then realized that I was still in my cat form. In a split second, she started to cough. I asked her what was wrong. I could feel her pain in my chest. Her lungs felt like sandpaper and her throught felt like it was closing. She doubled over and fell to the ground. She wasn't completely unconcious, thank the gods, but she was unresponsive. Her pain felt so sudden as if it wasn't real. She was now trying to hold onto my strength. I couldn't let her down. I ran out, trying to keep to the shadows so that no one would see me. I stayed low to the ground and hid behind objects. I arrived to the palace to see Gabriel guarding the gates. I slowly came out and rubbed up against his leg.

"What are you... wait, Daniel? Is that you?" he whispered.

"Meow," I replied, nodding my head.

"What's wrong?" he asked.

"Are you seriously asking me to explain?" I replied knowing he didn't speak cat.

"Oh, right, you can't explain. I'll follow you then," he replied, looking both ways to make sure no one saw him escape.

We were bolted to the tent, weaving through the people on our way. While we were sprinting, I realized once I got tired, Bella didn't have much left to live on. I felt a sharp pain in my chest. I stopped, and Gabriel picked me up, held me close to his chest, and ran. He understood what was wrong as soon as we were heading that way. He blew through the crowd and made it to Bella's tent. His chin dropped and gasped as he saw her laying on the floor. He placed me on the ground for a moment as he put his arms underneath her and lifted her from the ground. He then placed her on her blanket and picked me up to place me beside her.

"You're going to be okay. You have to be," He gazed at us, as my vision blurred and I passed out beside Bella.
