July 8th was the Jiang Family's anniversary.
The night before the anniversary, Jiang Wei'er returned to the old family home, it was late, and Xu Jiuru had already gone to bed.
"Mother," she called from outside the door.
Xu Jiuru invited her in, "It's so late, why aren't you sleeping?"
She took a document folder from her bag and placed it by Xu Jiuru's bedside.
"What's inside? You had to deliver it so late?"
"My shares."
Jiang Wei'er owned ten percent of the shares.
"I don't need them. Either you keep them or give them to Brother Lin, whatever you think is best."
Xu Jiuru propped herself up in bed and did not touch the document folder, "Take it back."
"I don't need it."
Her tone was light, as if it was nothing important.
"Absurd!" Xu Jiuru scolded with a stern face, "These shares can't just be given away."
"Are you not my mother? How is it giving them away to just anyone?"
She retorted, as if it were only natural.
Xu Jiuru was momentarily lost for words.
