Chapter 6 - 6

As Layton was still trying to figure out his recent changes, suddenly a heavy pressure filled the room, shaking the walls. From Layton's perspective, it seemed like space itself began to squeak. He felt like he was about to die—but fortunately, all of it only lasted for a moment. However, even though it was only a moment, it seemed to stretch on for what felt like an eternity.

Layton looked toward the only other person in the room who could have caused the phenomenon. He found that the man's black hair had somehow turned blond. The smile Layton had previously observed in his eyes was now absent, and only an aura of seriousness filled the room.

Solace frowned, his mind turning rapidly as he analyzed the message he had just received. He was feeling really pissed.

'How dare they kick me out? It seems I haven't broken a few heads in a long time and people have forgotten not to provoke a resting lion.

But wait, they shouldn't be that stupid. There's no way they would kick me out without some external pressure, they know I've wanted to get out of the plane for a long time… unless someone doesn't want me to come back. And Minerva must have known if not, she wouldn't have sent this kid here.'

Thinking like this, Solace's eyes brightened, illuminating the room. He quickly recovered the leaking light elements after realizing he was no longer the only person in his tower. Looking at the kid he almost blinded, Solace waved his hand, releasing a healing spell to cure Layton's eyes.

"I just received a message, and I have something to do. You should stay here and read this. All the answers to the questions you need to ask are in there," Solace said while throwing a golden book he had condensed into Layton's hands.

He was about to walk away but suddenly remembered something and turned back to face the kid. "Layton, right? Put this bracelet on. I guess the talent you got from that witch you're dating is inspiration. The bracelet will help control the amount of information you get from your high inspiration."

Solace immediately dispersed into a stream of light, his words echoing in the air, and a dark-gold bracelet was left on the floor where he had just disappeared from.

"W-W-What girlfriendddd?!" Layton stuttered in embarrassment before realizing he was the only one left in the room. Looking down at the bracelet on the floor, with its strangely drawn lion logo that seemed oddly familiar, he heard strange voices whispering in his ears. Suddenly, the bracelet glowed, as if hinting that he needed to put it on.

Suppressing the headache he was getting as a result of the whispering, Layton quickly picked up the bracelet and slipped it onto his wrist. Instantly, the world seemed clearer, the whispering stopped, and his emotions felt much more stable than before.

Layton found a seat, suppressed the endless doubts racing through his mind, took a breath, and opened the golden tome Solace had thrown into his arms earlier before leaving the tower. As to how he even knew those bits of information, Layton was confused as well, he guessed it had something to do with the inspiration Solace had mentioned earlier. Layton had a guess as to what inspiration meant, and if it was the same as described in the Cthulhu mythos books he had read on Earth, then his life was about to get a lot more dangerous than necessary.

Closing the tome which had now lost its golden color, Layton took deep breaths to calm his turbulent mood. Solace was right: he had found answers to his current questions in there. Although it looked like a book, the information was automatically imprinted in his mind when he opened it, very much like the jade slips he remembered reading about in some novels.

Apparently, he wasn't on a planet, but a plane colonized by wizards, and Solace had been stationed here to supervise it. Solace didn't mention anything about wizarding schools or anything else about wizards. The only other thing in the information was an explanation about inspiration and fate witches.

Inspiration was close to what Layton had guessed, but there were differences. Inspiration manifested differently in each individual and was one of the reasons fate witches were so highly sought after and respected.

According to the information, apart from the ability to see through destiny, a witch's inspiration allowed them to perceive the general "message" of exotic planes. Some witches called these messages "plot."

Upon recalling this message, Layton finally remembered why the logo on the bracelet seemed familiar, wasn't it the same as Escanor's in Seven Deadly Sins? Remembering the fate witch's inexplicable naming of the ability to see through destiny as "plot," and now this logo, Layton concluded that the wizards definitely had the ability to travel to other worlds, worlds similar to various works of fiction on Earth.

Realizing this, Layton wasn't sure whether to be happy or worried. On one hand, the information from various TV shows and novels he remembered from Earth was going to come in handy. But on the other hand, he was now going to be exposed to an infinite number of worlds, and there was no way of knowing the dangers that lurked around every corner.

According to every infinite stream novel he had read before… the power level of this world was probably off the charts.
