It's been a year and a half now since Idris had reincarnated. In the time he lived with his mother, she had always treated him with care, giving him all her love. They often played together and went out into the city to buy stuff.
Idris had always remembered how he came to this world and wanted to ask how it was possible to cross the worlds. But he knew that this question of his would probably never be answered.
He was now able to speak fluently without making any mistakes. He could use his body to 90% now, after the long time of getting used to it. He could almost walk too. But now he could finally converse with his mother like a normal person.
On a sunny day, he came crawling towards Elena. She sat in a chair reading a book. When she heard the sounds of him getting nearer, she turned her head to watch him trying his best to crawl to her.
She lifted him up on her lap and put her arms around him. Idris asked, while carefully picking his words:"Mom? Do I have a father?"
She seemed startled hearing his question. She hadn't anticipated it at all. She calmed down again and answered with a wry smile on her face:"You don't have a father."
Idris was shocked. How could he have been born without a man doing his duty? 'Were kids born without a father in this world? No that can't be. Why would they exist if they were useless?', he quickly put away all those childish thoughts. "What do you mean?"
It was a simple question. But it was still able to clear the confusion.
"It happened a little more than 2 years ago that my belly suddenly expanded", she started explaining herself,"Everyone thought that I was pregnant, but I knew that I wasn't. There were no signs of some man inside me and so everyone knew that I was telling them the truth. It is still a mystery until today. Even so, I love you with all my heart. After all you are my own child."
Idris was amazed. It was such a bizarre, but for him believable story. After all he was from another world. Who could know what nature has in its pockets? That was probably one of the reasons she hadn't been too surprised when I started to talk to her for the first time last month.
He suddenly remembered something and asked:"Who is Aiya exactly to you?"
Elena just laughed and said:"Oh right we never told you, did we? She's my sister and your aunt."
And again Idris was shocked. Even after his mother told him, he still couldn't believe it. But why would she lie to him? She had no reason to do so. And that's why he had to believe her.
It really was a mystery to him how he was born. And should he address Aiya as "aunt Aiya" then?
---------------
In the afternoon he took a warm bath calming himself down again. He went through his old memories. He started from the cause of his death and went to his gravest nightmare. He didn't know what the power was, that killed him and put him back together again after that. He also didn't know whether it was a dream or not, and whether it really happened to him or not.
It all still was a total mystery to him.
---------------
The next year on a muggy day, after his aunt had come back from a very long trip, Idris went out of the front door only to find Aiya training outside. He approached her carefully. He sat on the grass, leaning against the house and watching her with an amused smile.
After some time passed Aiya sat beside him. Sweat was visible on her face. Idris' heart pounded strongly as he looked at her. He calmed himself down again. It was just that he never saw her from such a close distance before. Her beauty shocked him again and again.
"You know", she began speaking hesitantly,"sometimes I think it would be better if I've never had practiced magic."
Idris was surprised from her sudden revelation. He would be very happy if he could use magic. "Why's that?",he asked in a curious tone.
"Well...I personnaly think that it is nothing good. Of course you can use magic to help people. For example, you could heal a person or fend off all the beasts that are a currently threatening to break through the outermost wall. But most of the people just practice magic and martial arts because of their own greed and their social status. And after someone tastes the power that comes with cultivating oneself, they'll only get greedier and seek for a higher position not only in their social standing, but also in their professional lifes, resulting in pain for the people they hurt, even if it's just unknowingly.", Aiya silently stared into the distance. She added:"And unfortunately its the latter that appears the most."
Idris was amazed by how far she thought. And what she said wasn't wrong. It was the opposite. Most people would probably only get greedy and do what would be best for themselves. He found the sort of person, that she descibed, despicable. It was the worst character a human could possess.
Aiya had voiced this issue, because she feared that she too would soon be avaricious.
"You are completely right", Idris agreed,"But please do tell me something. What exactly is magic and how can you awaken it?"
The girl besides him turned her head around to look at him. And again his heart started to pound strongly. He just couldn't control himself and averted her gaze.
A wry smile appeared on her beautiful face as she answered his question:"To cast and cultivate magic, you first need to form a mana core where you can store your mana. It can slowly expand through different breathing techniques and store more mana inside. Normal people form their mana core at the age of 6 or 7. There are several realms, one stronger than another. I know that there more than 7 of these realms, but I only know the names of the first three: the first realms is the Body Tempering Realm, the second is the Martial Beginner Realm and the third is the Martial Refining Realm. Every stage is exponentially stronger than the lower ones and divided into 10 stages which too are stronger the higher one's scultivation level is."
Idris never thought that it was that complex. There were probably more than the 7 realms that she mentioned. How much time would one need to reach those heights? Probably several hundreds of years.
He set a new goal in his mind: to form his mana core as fast as possible and get stronger, so that he could protect Elena and Aiya in the future.
