Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 - The Incident

I stared at the scene unfolding in front of me.

My knights, one step into the grave, and my mother, only worrying about me.

While I didn't particularly appreciate having people always follow me around, that didn't mean I wanted them dead either. So, I asked my mother.

"Mother, would it be okay if they," I pointed to the knights, "went to the infirmary?"

Mother looked at them briefly and with a single flick of the wrist, two maids came and dragged the knights out of there. It was a funny scene seeing two frail-looking women drag the two men clad in knight armor as if they were potato sacks. I giggled quietly under my breath.

"Now, it's about to be noon, so why don't we go inside and have dinner?" Mother said, a slight smile on her face.

I nodded and started walking back to the main palace while my mother walked right behind me.

The palace itself was huge, and this was only the main one! Imagine what the other palaces looked like! I heard that mother had her own which she would manage and that made me wonder if I would ever get one to myself.

We entered the dining hall as I pondered what colors I would have on my palace.

Father was already sitting at one end of the table, he looked exhausted with dark circles underneath his eyes. But when we walked in, his tiredness was quickly replaced with joy as he saw us.

"Felix, Achlys. I am glad to see you." Father looked like he was on the brink of death a moment ago, how the hell did he change moods so fast?

Mother had said something, but I tuned them out. Even in front of me, they still act lovey-dovey. And every time, I feel like I want to vomit.

With that in mind, I sat down on the right of father whilst mother sat on his left. Not even a second passed and suddenly maids came through the kitchen doors rolling carts of food.

In record time, the table was covered with delicacies from around the world. And that's when I saw it. My favorite meal in the whole wide world from my previous life. Something I hadn't yet seen before in this life.

In all its glory, Choco Flan.

'No! I must not be tempted yet! It's not good to eat sweets before dinner!'

During my inner turmoil, a plate of well-done salmon with cooked rice was placed in front of me. When I heard the soft thud of the plate being placed, I focused on the meal in front of me.

'Is this salmon? Sheesh, it's so fresh that I've never would have even gotten a glimpse of this in my past life!'

I shook off the thought and picked up the appropriate fork and knife, remembering my table etiquette. And almost as soon as my tongue hit the fish, I swear I saw my short life flash before my eyes.

With wide eyes, I thought, 'It's so good!' and happily continued eating.

Unbeknownst to Felix of course, his parents picked up on his joyful expression while eating. It seems like they'll be eating seafood for a while...

"I'm stuffed..." I muttered, to no one in particular.

After eating the steak, he had almost immediately asked for the Choco Flan. As soon as it was in his hands, he started munching away. As he was about to ask for a second one, he realized that if this continued, he would get chubby in no time!

And so, with a solemn expression, he excused himself. But this was only the beginning.

Because today, he had a plan. After saying good night to his parents, and declining the offer by a maid to walk him to his room, he started walking.

Now knowing that there are ingredients that he is familiar with, he decided that there should also be poisons he's familiar with!

'Just imagine all the possibilities! I could even get my previous experiment back up and running again!'

The boy's mind was running full speed, trying to figure out how to get the ingredients he needed when he heard two maids talking.

He quickly hid behind a corner and focused on what they were saying.

"...did you hear about the new shipment? They say it's for the toxicology room his majesty has. I heard that when enemy prisoners are captured, they give them the poison from there and the effect is truly horrendous!"

"No way! Is that true?"

"I know the room is, although I'm not sure the bit with the prisoners is though..."

By then, Felix had stopped listening. Instead, a large smile made its way onto his face. All he needed to do now, is find out where the room was.

With that new information in mind, he began walking back to his room, unbeknownst to the cloaked person who just started tailing him.

Felix yawned, it seems that even if his mind was older, his body was still that of a 6-year-old child. Even so, he was tired both mentally and physically.

Felix stretched, popping a few bones in the process, and simply laid down on his bed without bothering to change.

*CRASH*

Felix jolted up at the sound of something breaking. He sat up in his bed and looked around nervously.

"H-hello? Was that a maid?" He sputtered out, now keenly aware that no maid or knight had come running into his room. He was alone. And he was deathly afraid.

With shaking legs, he got off his bed and started walking over to the vase that was now in pieces.

He knelt and, with a shaky hand, carefully picked up the largest piece. It was heavy, meaning that it wouldn't just fall on its own. It would only fall if someone tipped it over.

Then out of nowhere, a small thud sounded behind him, surprising him. In his surprise, Felix dropped the large piece of the vase and accidentally made a semi-large gash on his palm.

He winced at the sudden pain before he suddenly realized. Felix was frozen, scared to look behind him as he could hear breathing from behind.

He sucked in a sharp breath as he grasped the piece of the vase he had dropped and held it firmly in his right hand, further invigorating his wound. Now armed with a weapon, he slowly turned around.

When he came face to face with black fabric, he hesitantly looked up. All he could see was a large grin with yellowish teeth before a knife came hurling down into his right shoulder, making him drop his make-shift weapon with a pained cry.

And before he could react, a heavy kick was directed into his side and made him practically launch into the wall adjacent to his attacker. Thankfully, the knife was still in him, so he wasn't bleeding much before but the sudden kick made his wounds bleed faster thanks to his increase in heart rate.

On instinct, Felix hugged his knees to his chest and tried not to cry, because crying would make it worse.

He had almost forgotten about it. Forgotten the painful memories of his past life. This scenario was like Deja Vu. He had experienced the same treatment a long time ago.

I hugged my knees to my chest, trying not to cry but failing as soft whimpers made their way out.

"Oh, you're crying? I'll give you something to cry about!" He yelled as he swung a beer bottle onto my arm, causing pieces of glass to embed themselves in. It hurt even more because of the bruises already there.

I didn't dare cry anymore, scared of what he would do next. So, I sat there, focusing on my pain to distract myself from crying.

I don't know how long I was there before he got tired of me and went to go drink some more. I stayed there for a couple of minutes before deciding that he was not coming back and carefully made my way back to the bathroom to clean my new wounds.

I can't wait to get out of this hellhole. Just three more years and I'll be gone. But I don't even know if I'll last another week. He's been getting more violent.

I'm scared.

"No... Not anymore..." I muttered, making myself stand despite the pain. "I refuse to go through this again..."

The cloaked man's smile faltered. He had expected the kid to shiver in fear, not stand up to him.

The man's smile had now completely disappeared. Felix's golden eyes were glowing.

"So..." Felix started, feeling an unfamiliar but comforting cool breeze starting to swirl around him as the cloaked man started looking nervous.

"GO TO HELL BASTARD!!"

With that sentence, spikes of ice pierced the cloaked man, staining the once icy blue into a glamourous red. The man had been pierced Junko-style and had quickly died.

Suddenly, knights barged into his room along with his father. The knights recoiled when they saw the now dead man but his father had only impatiently shoved through the knights before his eyes landed on Felix.

The room was icy cold, and frost was starting to cover the room and furniture. But his father paid it no mind and quickly hurried to Felix's side, seeing the state his child was in.

With the adrenaline wearing down, Felix collapsed, the blood loss making him feel dizzy. He must've lost a least half a liter, thankfully not enough to make him go into hypovolemic shock but enough to make him feel the side effects.

His father, however, didn't know that and started shouting orders. Something about getting a doctor.

He could feel pressure being applied around his more fatal shoulder wound and he winced. Even if it helped that didn't mean it wouldn't hurt.

Out of nowhere, he saw a pale green light out of the corner of his eyes and he instantly started feeling better.

His breathing became even and he wasn't in as much pain as before.

With his condition stabilized, he started becoming sleepy. And a few seconds later, he was out. He was finally calm.

But his father wasn't.
