Chapter 26 - Hellrider

From Tenshi's point of view, their armor seemed menacing and gave off an air of overall badassness.

The thin grin that was on Zain's face abruptly changed into an acrid frown as the expression of his discontent deepened.

Zain questioned, "Is there anything the matter Damian?" while maintaining his professional demeanor and smiling in a way that concealed his irritation and hostility.

Damian is tall and muscular, approximately 8 feet tall. He wears the same distinctive red armor as everyone else, but his mask is different from the rest.

Damian didn't even bother to peek at Zain; instead, he focused his attention on Tenshi while wearing a menacing crimson half mask that covered his eyes and nose and left just his sharp fangs exposed.

"You follow me," ordered Damian.

Unconsciously, Tenshi's left thumb moved toward the middle finger of the other hand. The loud pop that came from snapping his middle finger resounded throughout the room.

After turning around, Damian saw that Tenshi had not moved at all. On the contrary, he was sitting with his legs crossed while his thumb was cracking his other fingers, which caused loud noises.

Tenshi has acquired the tendency to crack his fingers as a means of coping with the temper problems he has had in the past. Now that he is more mature, he cracks his fingers subconsciously whenever anything bothers him or when he feels the want to kill.

"Did you not hear bo-" Because Tenshi's tremendous Killing Intent knocked Damian down so rapidly, he was unable to finish his sentence.

Massacre... something that Tenshi was extraordinarily gifted at accomplishing, while he was never insane about touching an innocent, yet Limbo had enough monsters to cover an entire battlefield with mountains of dead corpses.

As Tenshi stood up from the chair, he addressed, "I don't suppose we've met before... Mister Damian."

Tenshi was aware that he had the potential to upset or provoke a strong individual, but he was not prepared to take orders from a complete stranger or even to be referred to as "boy."

Damian let out a low growl as two enormous fangs protruded from the lips and became larger as the growl deepened.

Tenshi was unaware that practically everyone civilian and the squad had been rendered unconscious, kneed on the ground, and were wretchedly vomiting their guts out roughly 100 meters around him.

Damian threw himself at Tenshi while holding a greatsword in his hand in hopes of cutting him down.

[Gust of Wind], a strong gust of wind hit Damian, causing him to fall back against the wall that was behind him.

When Damian stood up from the ground, he was unhurt, but his eyes acquired a sinister red glow to them. This was comparable to the new and distinctive red eyes that Tenshi had gained with the awakening of his bloodline.

Damian, who had become crazed with rage, was ready to strike when suddenly, out of nowhere, a number of silver chains materialized and wrapped themselves around him, rendering him helpless. A horrible howl accompanied this.

When Tenshi saw Damian's gaze, his whole body went on high alert. He was well aware that Damian had the potential to tear him to bits or cut him in two if he got his hands on him. This simply served to stoke the flames of his already intense drive.

He caught a glimpse of a guy dressed in priest robes who was carrying two ethereal chins that resembled the ones Damian had tied with

Then, numerous squads of individuals armed with the same distinctive armor suddenly materialized all around Tenshi, aiming their weapons in his direction.

"Weapons down. It's alright," remarked the freshly arrived lady who was dressed in similar armor to that of other female-oriented characters.

If you overlook the little scars that had amassed all over her face and neck and her prosthetic left hand, which make her appear a bit threatening, her facial structure made her look quite attractive.

Tenshi briefly saw that the upper left portion of her forehead had scorched flesh. Though it was obscured by her gorgeous red hair.

"Hello, my name is Rose, and I serve as Vice Commander. Would you mind if we brought you along, Mr. Tenshi? And we sincerely regret the actions of our fellow worker." Rose inquired politely but with an implication of authority hidden in the background.

Tenshi gave a little nod of his head. For such a little matter, he won't become offended and behave like a Chinese young master. And he can see how the power scaling in this situation; even if he can flee and murder some of them, he still lacks the confidence to do so without suffering serious damage.

Tenshi then answered with, "Sure, lead the way," which prompted Rose's icy, expressionless visage to relax a little bit.

After that, Tenshi is brought to a giant watch tower and led to an office that is far larger than Zain's, who is only a commander watching over the station.

Rose beckoned for him to have a seat as she settled onto the luxurious chair that was placed in front of him on the desk.

Tenshi already realized what was going on here; it was a power play. Damian, who has problems controlling his fury, was given the task by Rose of determining what type of person Tenshi is and how powerful he is.

The reason Tenshi was enraged was not only because of the disrespect but also because Damian's eyes were cold and stared at him like a worthless insect.

"How may I be of service to you, Miss Rose?" Tenshi posed the question nonchalantly, having had enough of the delay.

In response, Rose crisscrossed her fingers, fixed her gaze on Tenshi, and said, "You have received the same curse as the commander. The demonic energy that is emanating from you, especially around your chest, a regular mage would hardly be able to detect it at all, but a strong like you and me can easily sense it."

'Tch' Tenshi, who seemed to be "cool" on the surface, was really frustrated on the inside.

He should not have come here since he let his greed get the better of him and caused himself unnecessary problems.

'What is it that makes genuine food and water so special? You really couldn't have waited, could you?' Tenshi gave himself a reprimand. Owing to the fact that it was the primary motivation for traveling to the human city.

"There is no need to be anxious since, in the end, we humans are all in it together. I am only giving you a compliment, and there is no harm intended." Rose reacted after noticing the tension in Tenshi's body.

"I wanted to personally invite you to become a member of the Hellriders, so I called you here. I have no doubt that someone as remarkable as you would garner a lot of attention. This is only a recommendation, and I am in no way blackmailing or pressuring you to do anything."

'Bullshit' Tenshi is aware that the only option left to him is to decide whether or not to join. He is perceptive enough to realize that he would be in a heap of trouble if those bothersome demons and devils were aware of either his mana or the curse mark on his body.

"I accept" Tenshi granted Rose's request, and despite the fact that he was coerced and even threatened into making the decision, he couldn't lie and claim that it wasn't a great chance for him to increase both his strength and his knowledge at the same time. Nevertheless, he did it anyway.

And it definitely was not just Rose was the first "real" female and pleasant to look at.

It is not difficult to remain hidden when you have your own personal Shadow Realm right at your feet. All of his Shadows, as well as Liya herself, are able to conceal themselves inside that domain, although she chooses not to do so.

The look that Rose was wearing almost transformed into a grin as she said, "Welcome aboard Hellrider. Because I was the one who recruited you, you will be a member of my team. Do you have any queries and requests?"

Tenshi was now somewhat ecstatic and thought, 'I hope I receive that wonderful armor.'

Despite the fact that Tenshi had recently bought a new suit of armor, he believed that the red armor was superior in both appearance and power.

Tenshi remarked, "My only request is that I want to leave anytime something essential occurs," since he had his own ambitions, and he wasn't going to abandon them simply.

"Of course, however, depending on your position, you will be required to follow certain obligatory things. For example, if there were a demon invasion or an assault by Devils, you would need to be in the front lines." After considering Tenshi's proposal and finding it to be acceptable, Rose gave a nonchalant nod.

"Follow me so that I may collect your armor and uniform... in addition to that, I will evaluate your prowess on the field of battle in order to assign you a rank."
