The common language of the Terra Continent, in essence, is a simplified form of inscriptions. Its relationship to inscriptions resembles that of simplified characters to traditional ones. However, the complexity of inscriptions far exceeds that of traditional characters. Just as there are many methods to simplify traditional characters, it is common for a single character to have four variations, much like the same name being transliterated into Charles, Chârl, Karl, or Carlos based on different regional pronunciations.
