"The Jester Finally Found Home"
Chapter 01: "The beginning of the story"
In a viciously rainy day. A boy was seen running with a handful of bread in his arms. As the town people chase after him. For the boy stole a bread he was holding in his arms. The boy's name was Jester.
And as the chase goes on. Jester gets too tired and too weak to able to run.
That he was almost been catch and be arrested by the angry town people. But luckily with the last of his strength he managed to fool and trick them.
As Jester fall to the ground. Shivering in pain as he heard the mockery of the angry town people.
"Where did that brat go... That brat when I see him... I'll make him regret from stealing from us..." One of the people chasing him said.
"This is not the only time he does this... That boy... That orphan..." The owner of the bakery added.
As he heard those word he was frozen. That word made him much more realize his conditioned. No one to care, no one to love. No warmth, no food. And no shelter. The only thing that was left is him alone in dumpster with a couple of bread in his arms. And the angry town people chasing him.
"Those orphan have been rampaging quite often now a days"
The other man there came and agreed with them. As they continued to mocked the orphan and they're parents for their children's misery.
As the boy heard all they're conversation. His teeth started to grit with anger. He have enough of their mockery. But choose to be silent. For he knows he can't do a thing with his little hands of him. He felt so powerless.
"But soon this hand will soon crashed them.... All of them that mocked and insulted not only me but as well as my parents... I shall made them pay for it..." He said to himself. As he aggressively bite the bread in his arms. As tears flow in his face as he eat.
The boy was 10 yrs.old now. Ever since he was a child he never felt warm of a parent. For he was an orphan. His mother died in giving birth to him. And his father couldn't accept him. For in his Father's eyes his the cause of death of his beloved wife. But he still care gor him until he reach an age that he can get away from him.
So at a young age Jester tried to find work but he always failed to get one. For the reason that the town people have a cold heart for orphans like him.
So he was force to steal. He don't want to steal but he have to. For him to live.
Then one day he woke up. As his drenched clothes gone dry and the sun comes up like nothing happened. Luckily he didn't catch a cold.
"Such a peaceful day..."
A peaceful days like this seems like a mockery to him. But he must stand up. For as long as he lived he must fullfil his hunger.
As he was strolling. He managed to heard a loud laughter. It seems like it was coming from a bar.
As he was distracted by the noise that was coming from the bar. He stumbled and fell to the ground. As he bumped on something or someone.
As he look to where he bumped into. He saw a man with a build body and a scary look.
But as soon as he met his eyes. His impression on him changes.
His eyes were bright blue. Like the color of the sky or the ocean.
"Are you alright my child?" He asked with a bright smile as he offered his hand to him.
"I'm fine..." he answered. He was really confused for his action was completely opposite of his visual appearance.
As the boy continues his walk. When suddenly the man grab his arms.
"Wait are you perhaps that child that was being chased by the town people?"
As the boy stood frozen. He was been caught red handed. He knows he can't escape from him. He has no chance. So with his wits. He tried to fool and trick him.
He shouted as loudly as he can. As to make a commotion. And when the opportunity came. He bites the man's hand for him to escape. But the man didn't budge.
"Hey... Kid wanna join the army and make use of yourself..." the man said it cheerfully.
"You may look like a boy with a weak body now... But with proper nutrition and guidance... I can make you a warrior..." He added.
The boy was at shock. Maybe this is the opportunity he was waiting for. But he was hesitant and cautious.
Even though his that in need of help. He cannot just trust the man's words. For he knows that the world he was in was a very dangerous place. As he learned this in a harsh way. That many bad people lurks around and finding their chance to do bad things.
You let your guard down and you will fall for your missery.
"No... Thanks... Pick other kids to fool... That won't work on me..." he replied.
But deep inside he wanted to go. A chance like this only happens once. So he secretly follow the man.
As the man goes to the bar where the commotion and laughter was coming from . The man was happily welcomed by the people there. And they have a feast. Laughing and drinking all they want.
Jester sees that and was disappointed by what he sees.
"So I guess he was an old geezer with some bad habits after all... A good for nothing..." He thought to himself.
"No soldier will mingle with all that kind of vulgar people like that... Guess he lied after all..." He said with disappointment.
For a second he thought his the answer to his problems but it looks like it was all a lie. But he can't make his feet move. Seems like his waiting for something to happen.
He didn't know that the man know that he is there following him. So the man ordered the lady there to prepare a meal for the kid outside. And command him not to tell the kid that it was him that give it to him.
As ordered the lady prepare the meal and gave it to the boy.
"It seems like you are hungry... Have some meal..." She said to the boy.
"But... Lady I don't have money to pay for this food..." He replied.
"Don't worry it's free..." she replied.
He wants to know why she suddenly gave him food. But she's already far away. And he don't want him to notice him. So he accept the meal and eat it.
"I've already did bad things as stealing... What's the difference..." He tell to himself.
As the man was still having his leisure time. The boy suddenly fell asleep. And when he wakes up. The man was there standing next to him.
"So you follow me after all..." He said to Jester.
Jester was still half asleep but he replied to him. "Well I have so much free time after all..."
"Hey! If you have that much of free time... Make use of it... I'll train you to become a soldier..."
"Why are you so eager to make me a soldier... There are a lot of others, but why me?"
"Let's just say that I see potential in you..."
"Potential?" He laughed.
"What potential can he see in me... "He thought.
"You are much capable of doing great things in the future I believe that..."
"How sure are you that I'll become like that?"
The man didn't say anything and just smile.
He was still in doubt of his sincerity. So he refused again.
"No... I won't come..." He tells him.
"I see... I guess then... Till we meet again..." He replied. And he went to his carriage and went on his way.
The next morning
After that the Jester always waited for him in that same place. And as always that man always visit there.
And as always Jester was mysterousely given food by the lady. And Jester always accept it. But he got a feeling on what was going on. But he chose to be silent.
"I'm sorry sir but didn't you know? That kid was a headache of this town... Not only him but the others too..." The waitress said to the man.
"Was they always steal?" he asked.
"Yes and that boy over there is their leader..." she said.
"Leader? He asked.
"Yes his the one that was all plotting with others..."
"I see... How sure are you? Do you have a proof?"
The lady fell silent. She doesn't know what to respond. As Sir Vincent said, she has no proof.
Then he secretly followed Jester.
And he discovered the other children was there. As well as old people who can't afford to work anymore. And he seen Jester parting the food to others. As the children and elderly gathered around him. But as much he like it. The food was yo small for them. So the elderly gave the good to the young ones. And the young ones share how much they can give to the elderly.
As the man sees this scenery he can't just stand there and do nothing. For all this time he wasn't stealing not just for himself but for others too.
Now he understood why he was doing it. That scenery touch his heart. And made him more eager to help. Not only him but the others too.
So he came back to the bar and made a big order to feed the children there as well as the elderly.
"Bring food to that kid... And make it a lot for about hmm... How many are them?
"You were really a kind man..."
He didn't reply and leave a large some of money in the table.
The days were the same the man always order the waitress for a large amount of food and give it to them secretly. As all the children that lost their will to live finally have hope now. But these make the town people angry. Because for them it's just a nuisance.
"Such a waste..." the town people said.
"Those thieves don't deserve it..." they added.
But the man stood for the children there. And stop the town people from bullying them.
"What's this? Bullying the weak? You should be ashamed for yourselves!!!" He said loudly that the town people startled in fear of him.
"But those children..." They added
But the man only stared at him menacingly. And the whole town people fell silent.
Jester was swayed by his heroic act. He never met anyone like him before. Such a kind person he was.
Jester was ashamed for him to think of him so lowly. He was wrong for that.
Then the next day the town people was in shock to heard an incredible news. For the man was granted to build a cathedral there for the Children and all the homeless to shelter them.
The children were happy to hear it. They jump from joy.
But the town people felt the opposite of it. They felt disgust. But it's the imperial decree. It must be obeyed.
The other children and Jester was escorted by the priestess to the cathedral. There they have proper clothing, food to eat, and a home.
They were so happy for this gift they received finally there is a hope for them.
Then the man came and was introduced by the priestess.
"Children... Please greet our guest..." the priestess told them calmly.
"Good morning... Kind mister..." they all synchronized.
"This man here is Sir Vincent de Van Guard... The Chief commander of the Royal Palace... And the founder of this Cathedral... Please treat him politely..." She tells them politely.
Jester was in shock. For all he said was true all along. And the man was helping them all this time.
The boy was touch by all his help his providing. So he quickly come to the man and thank him.
All the children and homeless people also thank him and kneeled down to Sir Vincent. To show how much they thank him for saving them.
But sir Vincent refuse their action. He tells them.
"Don't kneel to me... Just your gratitude is enough... You should all thanks to the king for he gave me the authority to able to this kind of things..."
"All hail the king!" they all shouted.
After that Jester didn't sleep. He was thinking all that have happened today. Then after that he realize something.
Then the next morning. Jester searched for the man that have helped them.
And he sees him sitting on a bench. And a bird flew toward him.
The boy was mesmerized by the scene. Then he remembered why he came here for.
He approached him and kneeled down.
"Please let me come with you!" He said.
Sir Vincent was startled but. He understood the boy.
"Don' t kneel down... Your one of my soldier now... Stand up and show your face..." He said it with dignity.
"One of your soldier... Does that mean that you accept me..." the boy said.
"Why did you change your mind now?" Sir Vincent asked.
"Change... To change my fate... I want to change my life... So please help me..." he replied.
"Then what are you waiting for... let's go... I don't make exceptions... " He said with dignity.
Then Jester start training with the Sir Vincent as his apprentice. With him he managed to get well at swordsmanship and excel in all other things.
He learned to read and write too.
In the span of 8 years the little boy grew into a fine man. And he became famous within the kingdom. As the right hand of sir Vincent. He was named Sir Jester de Van guard after the name of the man who save him.
Then the day came for him to take a journey for his first quest. His first quest as soldier is to save the town people from a rampaging dragon. That was abducting the animals and town people there.
But soon as they face the enemy. The dragon have been rampaging severely.
But Jester was there to help. With his sword he cuts and dodge all attack of the dragon. And he divert the dragons attention to him. So that he can fight the dragon alone without any civilians harm.
And when everything goes to plan. He initiate an all out attack. As the dragon cut in half.
As the fight ended the remaining survivors rejoice as they reunite with their love one's.
And among the town people there. He met a strange lady. That lady gave him a reward for his heroic act. He was given a quite precarious necklace.
The lady said "This necklace will bring you luck and happiness... Just always bring this with you and all your wish may come true... But there are always twist and turns... And there are bad endings too... You must choose... Your fate is now in your hand..."
