In the marvel universe, or well marvel universe 65C, the life of this Peter parker was much more tragic. (Though I doubt I can out do the spider man writers, I will give it a shot with this backstory.)
It followed all the events of the main 65 canon, though the characters where much more cruel to Peter parker.
Gwen Stacy, his loyal friend, after forming a band and becoming spider woman, she became big headed and became friends with Peters bully's, even though they kept hurting him she never stopped it, she told them to, but she never did anything.
After that, Mary Jane, his crush asked him out, only for it to be a trick, breaking his heart as he gave up on romance.
Peters life was hard, but unlike the main 65 Peter, he didn't wanna be a hero, he just wanted to he a good man, like his uncle Ben, which led to him working for curt conners, a geneticist with regeneration experience.
He wanted to help the world, build things, make his aunt and uncle proud, even though the horrors of school hurt him, he never gave up, though curt was sick, he did tests on himself for years before the new serum, making him immune but sick, killing him slowly.
Which was why he decided to test it on Peter against his will, injecting him with it, and turning him into the lizard, who went on a rampage across new York, killing many people and gwen Stacy's father.
Gwen found the footage of the the test, and tracked Peter down, in curts unstable mind, the formula was worse then the original one, making Peters life a hell he couldn't stop, he finally gained control, begging gwen for help, to make a cure, but instead she beat him, she abused him, and said this was for her dad, before smashing his skull, his regeneration trying to fix him, before gwen set in on fire, burning him alive, though what neither of them saw was something enter Peters body, and as his body died it turned into dark ash, then mist and floated away.
But Peter woke up, and all around him was a welcoming dark.
