Y/n
I started making something to eat—pancakes and tea. The delicious smell of warm batter filled the kitchen, making my stomach growl. Suddenly, the doorbell rang, pulling me from my thoughts. It must be James. I wiped my hands on my apron and headed to the door. Sure enough, there he was, standing with a bag in his hand.
James: "Hey, it smells like you're cooking something delicious!"
I smiled, nodding. "Pancakes."
He grinned, his eyes lighting up. "Nice. Let's eat, and then we'll head out. Emma's waiting for us."
We sat down at the kitchen table, digging into the pancakes. The warmth of the meal matched the comfort of the moment. Just as we finished, my phone buzzed with a call from Emma. I answered quickly, and she told us the address and reminded us to come early for the beach arrangements.
"Got it. See you soon," I said, hanging up.
We got in the car and headed toward the beach. As we drove along the coast, the sun glittered off the water, and I couldn't help but smile at how perfect everything seemed. When we finally arrived, I was in awe. A massive yacht was docked at the shore, its white sails gleaming in the sunlight. Emma stood nearby, chatting with Max.
James helped me out of the car and onto the yacht, offering his hand as the boat rocked gently beneath us. The crew was already bustling around, getting everything ready. I couldn't help but be impressed by the stunning decorations—twinkling fairy lights, elegant drapes flowing in the breeze, and vibrant flowers arranged all over the deck. It looked like something straight out of a dream.
We spent some time taking photos, posing against the beautiful backdrop, and laughing with Emma and Max. The air was warm, the ocean breeze was perfect, and the day ahead promised to be unforgettable. Everything was falling into place just as I had imagined.
"Wow," I whispered, completely mesmerized by the view. The engagement deck on top of the yacht gave us a perfect vantage point to see the ocean stretching out before us. And later, when the sun set, the stars would be just as breathtaking. It felt like a dream.
But as I stood there, a sudden dizziness hit me. Before I knew it, I started to lose my balance. Just as I was about to fall, a hand caught me, steadying me.
I looked up to find none other than Lucas, his intense eyes locking onto mine.
Lucas: "I was waiting for you."
I immediately jerked away, creating a good distance between us. His presence made my skin crawl.
"I'll go to Emma," I said quickly, turning and running in the opposite direction.
I knocked on Emma's door, breathing a little heavier than usual. She was in the middle of changing into her outfit for the night. I stepped in to help her with the zipper on the back of her dress.
Emma: "Y/N, go get ready too."
I nodded, and she handed me a small bag. I quickly changed into the white dress inside—it was elegant and simple, but it felt like the perfect fit.
"Umm… don't you think this is a little too much?" I asked, unsure of how it looked.
Emma: "It's perfect, Y/N."
I smiled, feeling reassured. But just then, there was a knock at the door. Emma quickly walked over and opened it.
Two women entered, carrying a box. Behind them, Emma's mom walked in with a warm smile.
I couldn't help myself—I rushed over and gave her a big hug.
Emma: "Let's get ready," she said cheerfully, her excitement contagious. The ladies began doing our makeup, carefully enhancing our features with soft colors and delicate touches.
Emma's mom entered with a bright smile.
Emma's mom: "Emma, darling, we have a surprise for you today."
Emma's eyes widened. "What?!" she gasped, giggling.
Emma's mom: "Let's wait for the night," she replied with a knowing smile.
We all exchanged glances, our curiosity piqued.
Emma: "I can't believe I'm really getting engaged, guys!"
We gathered around her for a group hug, all of us sharing in her joy.
"You're looking like a fairy, Emma. Max will absolutely love it," I said, giving her a playful wink.
Emma's mom: "Yes, you two are looking like goddesses, I must say. Y/N, you also need to find someone before her wedding. Then we'll book honeymoons for both couples!"
I chuckled at her teasing. "No, Auntie, I'm fine."
Emma: "We should find someone for her, Mom! She needs a man. And I need a brother!"
I rolled my eyes playfully. "Emma, stop it!"
We all laughed together, the warmth of the moment spreading through the room.
After a while, we made our way to the top of the yacht, the excitement building for the evening ahead. The sun was beginning to set, casting a golden glow over the ocean. Everything felt perfect.
Max glanced at Emma, his eyes filled with affection, and before any of us could react, he quickly ran over to her, planting a kiss on her lips before pulling her into a tight hug.
Max: "You're looking amazing, my love."
Emma: "You too," she replied, her cheeks flushed with happiness.
We all laughed and teased them in unison, "Go get a room!"
Max rolled his eyes, but the love in his gaze was unmistakable.
Just then, James appeared, walking towards me with a concerned look. He wrapped his arms around me in a tight hug.
James: "Y/N, I've been searching for you everywhere."
I raised an eyebrow. "Why?"
James: "Because I thought I was going to get lost on this yacht," he said, his tone playful.
I laughed softly. "You should've asked Max. He knew I was in Emma's room."
James: "I did ask him, but he was busy. His friend said you went somewhere with Emma. I tried calling you, but you didn't pick up."
I glanced over at Lucas, who was seated nearby, staring at us with an unreadable expression.
"Oh, it must've been Lucas," I said, my tone slightly uncertain.
James: "Whatever. Just don't go anywhere, okay?" he said, squeezing my hand tightly in his.
We moved to a chair and sat down with Emma's parents, enjoying the calm before the evening festivities kicked off. Lucas, still sitting across from me, didn't take his eyes off James. The tension in the air was almost palpable, and I couldn't help but notice how uncomfortable the atmosphere had become.
James leaned in close to me, his voice lowered.
James: "Why is Max's friend looking at me like that?"
I glanced over at Lucas, who was sitting across the room, staring at James with an intensity that could cut glass.
"I don't know, just ignore him," I said, giving James a reassuring smile. He nodded, though I could see a little unease in his eyes.
Meanwhile, Emma and Max stepped up to the stage, where everything was set for the ceremony.
Max: "Finally, it's happening. My beloved girlfriend is going to be my wife..." He looked at Emma with so much love in his eyes, it was almost overwhelming. "I love you, Emma."
Emma's eyes glistened with tears as she replied, her voice cracking slightly.
Emma: "Thank you for being the love of my life. I can't wait to spend forever with you."
A few tears escaped as we watched, the emotion in the air palpable. Max reached out, gently wiping away a tear from her cheek.
Max: "You are my forever, my home, my heart. I can't wait to spend forever with you, too, my love."
The words hung in the air as the crowd wiped away their own tears, feeling the sincerity in his voice. Then, with the most tender smile, Max slipped the ring onto Emma's finger, and she did the same for him.
They kissed, sealing the promise of a lifetime. The entire room erupted into applause, and for a moment, everything felt perfect.
Emma's dad stood up with a proud smile, looking at the couple.
Emma's dad: "We can see the strength of your bond and the kindness, respect, and love you bring into each other's lives. This is just the beginning of an incredible adventure."
Emma's mom wiped away a tear before speaking, her voice warm and loving.
Emma's mom: "So, here's to the beautiful future ahead of you both. We love you dearly and are so proud of you."
They both stepped forward to the stage, wrapping Emma and Max in a tight, heartfelt hug. Emma looked so overwhelmed with love that tears welled up in her eyes again.
I felt my own eyes fill with tears, watching the beautiful moment unfold. James, sensing my emotions, gently squeezed my hand in comfort. I looked over at him and managed a small smile.
Emma: "Please, don't make me cry, guys! My makeup will be ruined," she said, causing everyone to burst out laughing. It lightened the mood, and we all chuckled together, wiping away our tears.
Emma's dad smiled and wiped his eyes, then motioned to the crowd.
Emma's dad: "Now, it's time for the surprise!"
As he said that, four men came onstage, each carrying a large box. They carefully placed it in the center of the stage, and everyone's curiosity grew. The box was wrapped beautifully, with a big ribbon on top, leaving everyone wondering what was inside.
Emma looked at her dad with wide eyes, clearly curious.
Emma: "What is this, Dad?"
Emma's mom smiled warmly.
Emma's mom: "Open it and see."
Emma excitedly stepped forward and began unwrapping the box. As soon as it was open, a figure wearing a mask stepped out. There was a brief silence before the person slowly pulled off the mask—and I froze.
I couldn't believe my eyes. It was... Mr. Annoying.
Emma: "Coel?!" She gasped, rushing forward to hug him.
Mr. Annoying, now revealed as Coel, laughed and pulled her into a tight embrace, then did the same with Max.
Mr. Annoying: "Congratulations, guys," he said with a grin, clearly enjoying the moment.
Emma: "Oh my God, I can't believe this!" she exclaimed, still in shock but clearly happy to see him.
Mr. Annoying: "I'll sing a song for you two, a beautiful couple," he said dramatically, his tone teasing as he prepared to entertain us.
He began to sing, his voice surprisingly smooth and beautiful, filling the room with warmth. But as he sang, his gaze slowly shifted toward me. His eyes locked onto mine, and for a split second, I saw a familiar smirk tug at the corner of his lips.
I could feel my heart race, unsure of what that look meant. Was he messing with me again? Or was there something more behind that smirk?
