Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: Omnimancy

NOTE - As I said chapter, this is the same day from a different POV.

==================================================================

The break of dawn came near, and Astrid woke up from her sleep. Once she got dressed and exited the hotel, a random burst of energy gave her the idea to finally master all her attributes of magic. She also wanted to learn more about Baron, so she went to the only place she knew to find that information: the library.

After asking directions from many people, she found herself at the end of a street, facing a large building. It looked a bit gloomy, as it had dark walls. Walls darker than the other buildings on the same street. Working up the courage, Astrid put her foot inside.

The place was filled with masses of bookshelves, containing a variety of books from «How to cook almonds» to «Bedtime stories for overaged babies». Astrid's fingers ran past the spines of many books, looking for two in general.

'There it is.'

A magic book, based on the history of Misfits. The first page was very familiar to the woman. In fact, she knew the words on most of the pages. The reason for this, is that it was the same book Kenta had given to her.

'So that means...!!!'

The page on the grey affinity opened before her. The title of that page sent chills down her spine.

'No...hold up a sec...this might be a bit too overpowered...what the heck is this...Omnimancy!?!'

Omnimancy. The power to create and destroy things at will. And she had the potential to learn it.

'This world gets more and more interesting as i dig deeper into it.'

She slipped the book in her bag for later, and replaced it with the old one. Then, she sought out another book. One about Baron. She had to find out more about him. Ever since she got to the City, she hadn't had a clue on where he was.

Delving into the history isle, she spotted a few books with the name Baron in the title. All of them, she picked off the shelf and skimmed through them.

'Nothing. This is useless.'

Not one book has anything on Baron's location. He had been seen multiple times in the City, but disappeared after gathering too much attention. So Astrid was at a standstill.

She sighed. After returning the books, she left the library. But her demeanour completely changed once she remembered her new found ability. Astrid rushed to her hotel room and grabbed the magic book. She flinged her bag onto the the ground.

'Let's see...Oh?'

Astrid eyes stopped on a sentence.

"This affinity breaks down the caster's mind body and soul."

'Well. That's reassuring.' She scanned the next line.

"It is recommended to partake in the Ascension before attempting this affinity. The reason: Awakened blood magic can heal all injuries at a fair rate."

'So I just have to awaken? That's fine. I'll do it before the end of the year.'

She closed the book. She placed the book on her bed while resisting the urge to try. In honesty, Astrid was scared. The fact that she could get hurt from this. Better yet, there was someone that wanted her dead. Id she were to reveal her identity to anyone born in the City, would they have the same friendliness that Mizuki and Kenta treated her with? She didn't know.

The sun was finally going down, and Astrid was not tired one bit. She hadn't trained today, so going to the forest was her best option.

When she got there, she was greeted by a familiar light. This time, the light spoke before Astrid passed out.

"Child, how have you been holding up?"

"Oh? Eta! I'm great!" She then held out a piece of paper in her hand and asked with politeness. "Can you...send this to my mother?"

Eta lit up. "Of course, my child." The note dissolved into a ball of light. The light dimmed and eventually extinguished. Eta spoke up. "I know she'll love it."

In a certain house, a certain tall, slim woman tied up her blonde-slightly grey hair. She began to clean up her dead daughter's room. While doing so, she found a note in a drawer.

{Dear Anne Atsuko (Mother),

I love you. I know I've been a pain to you when I came back home yesterday, but I assure you, I love you. I will never forget you, even if I were to die.

-Astrid}

The woman broke down into tears.

"That's my girl."
