There are many ways in which Pokémon are born. They are not limited to typical lifeforms. Beyond common animals, plants, clouds, air, rocks, and steel, even natural elements can become a Pokémon.
However, no matter what kind of vessel, the strongest vessel has always been the Plate.
Back then, since Darkrai had to carry out a mission alone outside for extended periods and could even face unknown enemies, he exhausted the dark power within the Dread Plate.
The Regice before him was even more special. As a member of the Regi family, they could also be referred to as the legendary giants or… hmm, the Toilet family. [TN: They are called Toilet Family by chinese fandom because even though they are legendary pokemon, they are weak to Fighting-type moves which are widely used moves.]
Unlike previous Mythical Pokémon, or the so-called Legendary Pokémon like Arcanine, Regice is a Legendary Pokémon in the truest sense.
Due to the unique nature of the legendary giants, they can even use Arceus's plate as their core. However, this core is only temporary—essentially a short-term enhancement buff.
After they are done with their tasks, Arceus can still take the plate back.
Outsiders can also use the power of the plates, provided they gain Arceus's permission. Under appropriate circumstances, Arceus is not unwilling to lend the plates—on the condition that the person understands they must be returned.
The number of Regice is not singular. Ice is their body. As ancient Pokémon, Regice's bodies are filled with ice from the ice age. Some Regice have even slept for countless years inside glaciers.
A Regice that uses the Icicle Plate as its vessel is without a doubt the most powerful of all Regice. Various geometric bodies gradually gathered together, then began to expand under the influence of the Icicle Plate, ultimately giving birth to a massive Regice standing seventeen meters tall.
"Go. Teach them a lesson, then come find me."
"Re...gi...ce..."
On Regice's face are seven yellow dots arranged in the shape of a cross. These are its visual organs, and also the way it expresses emotion.
The seven yellow dots flickered rapidly, and a sharp, piercing sound emanated from within the pillar-shaped body.
Then, Regice jumped off the deck, floating above the surface of the sea—though the seawater beneath its feet instantly froze solid due to the cold aura surrounding its body.
"Turn around. Destination: Marineford."
"Yes, my lord!"
...
Genesis turned around and left, while Regice locked onto its target, slowly floating toward the ships dispatched from Enies Lobby.
"What is that thing? A robot? An ice sculpture?"
"No idea, but since it came off a pirate ship, it can't be anything good. Just keep attacking, open fire!"
Regice was a large target, and its movements weren't fast. Dense shells exploded against Regice's body but failed to cause any damage. Though its body was made of ice, Regice was extremely sturdy.
The shockwaves from the explosions couldn't affect it, and the shrapnels were deflected by the smooth icy surface.
The Marines at Enies Lobby didn't realize the danger posed by the Ice Giant. Its appearance didn't look as threatening as Hydracthon's—perhaps even a bit comical—but as Regice drew closer, the cannon fire came to a halt.
"What's going on? Keep firing! That thing is almost here!"
"The cannon barrels are frozen…"
The gunners tried to pull the triggers, but nothing worked. As they attempted to fix the cannons, the ship suddenly shook violently.
Boom!
A large section of the deck was blown away. Not far off, sparks of electricity flickered from Regice's hand. It hadn't used an Ice-type move—instead, it fired a Zap Cannon.
It believed that such a warship wasn't worth taking action itself, but since Arceus had ordered it to take action, there had to be a purpose behind it. So, it deliberately aimed the Zap Cannon off-target, hoping to force the ship into retreat and search for the mastermind behind it.
If it had wanted to destroy the warship immediately, the most direct method would've been to approach and freeze it with the cold air emitted from its body.
It intentionally drifted forward slowly in order to achieve this goal. Seeing that the shelling was ineffective and Regice was getting closer, the warship eventually chose to retreat.
On the Genesis, Arceus watched Regice follow after them without any concern.
The plates that had already been retrieved were different from the ones that had previously been lost. Back then, it was like searching for a dead phone in a pitch-black room—naturally a very difficult task.
But after its return, it was as if the phone had been powered on again. Just one call would quickly reveal its location. The Icicle Plate temporarily residing in Regice was in just such a state.
The Tarai Current had already vanished, and the sailing speed had slowed considerably. But as Genesis continued on its voyage, some people were getting a headache from the intelligence reports in front of them.
…..
Holy Land, Mariejois. The Five Elders fell into deep thought as they read the Marines' report.
They were also keeping a close eye on the battle at Marineford. This battle would have a tremendous impact on the future development of the world.
"Kaido, his daughter, and several of his high-ranking officers have all appeared at Marineford—and even restored Whitebeard's youth."
"Didn't Red Hair say he would try to stop Kaido? Is this what he meant by stopping him?"
"I've said it all along—Red Hair is suspicious. There's definitely a special arrangement between him, Whitebeard, and Kaido. We just haven't found it yet."
Tap, tap, tap.
A series of footsteps echoed from outside, and two communications officers appeared before the Five Elders.
"Reporting the latest news from Enies Lobby: they did not find any escaped prisoners in the Tarai Current, but they did discover a ship belonging to the Beasts Pirates. Leading them was Arceus…"
"Reporting to the Five Elders: Intelligence from Impel Down states that a large number of prisoners, including those from Level 6, have escaped. Their current whereabouts are unknown.
Vice-Warden Hannyabal has been seriously injured. Head Jailer Shiryu of the Rain has defected.
Chief Warden Magellan is working hard to suppress the aftermath. A detailed report will require further assessment.
However, the ringleaders of the breakout have been confirmed: Straw Hat Boy—Monkey D. Luffy, Blackbeard—Marshall D. Teach, and Buggy the Clown."
The blond-haired Elder waved his hand, signaling the messengers they could leave.
Once they had exited, the group resumed their discussion.
"A mass breakout of prisoners from Level 6 is not good news."
"Suppress the news for now. The escape of those Level 6 monsters would stir up panic. We can't let this ruin the barely stabilized situation."
"These guys with the 'D' in their names are really such a nuisance."
The bald Elder with the sword looked visibly irritated. The long blade in his hand was partially drawn, clearly revealing his deep disgust for the so-called Will of D.
"And that Buggy the Clown—he turns out to be one of Roger's crew, and even Red Hair's brother. Could it be that his hiding out in East Blue was part of Red Hair's plan too?"
The Elder with the goatee recalled the Roger Pirates. Logically, every crew has its weak links, but the intelligence on Buggy's behavior made him seem too much of an outlier for Roger's crew. If it weren't for the solid evidence, he would have a hard time believing Buggy was actually Roger's apprentice.
"That's not the priority right now. Red Hair dislikes chaos—he's unlikely to stir up any major trouble.
The main issue is Whitebeard's restored youth.
If those old geezers catch wind of such a technique, who knows what they'll try to do.
We should send someone to investigate. Kaido, Yamato, Arceus—aside from them, most of the top officers of the Beasts Pirates aren't in Wano Country.
This is probably the weakest Wano's defenses have been in decades. We could try to infiltrate. Isn't there still a CP0 team in the area?"
Saturn put forth his suggestion. The secrets hidden within Wano Country had long stirred their curiosity.
