Myst's Pov:
We don't have a meeting immediately, instead we are escorted to our rooms for rest while the physician comes over later, to treat the wounds.
Jax was yet to arrive, and I still couldn't shake off the fact that half of the kingdom is currently in ruins. I couldn't protect my kingdom.
It stings, and the weight of it all feels heavy. A heavy sigh escapes my lips, as I run my shaking hands through my hair. Watching intently for a while as Myst is being treated, before finally making my way to the room prepared for me.
Shutting the door behind me, I fall to the bed like a corpse. Before curling into a ball, arms wrapped tightly around my knees. I take in a shaky breath, trying to calm down my raging heart.
Everything seemed to be moving so fast, and it all seemed to be falling apart. My sister is in danger and Trigon had taken over nearly half of the kingdom. I can only hope that Lone Caves will be able to hold him off in the mean time, before I return back to my full strength.
I sit up, close my eyes for a brief moment and inhale deeply. "It's going to be just fine." I assure my self. Getting to my shaking feet before I walk over to a small desk located at a corner in the room. Slowly, I unarm myself, placing my weapons, daffers and sword on it.
Then retreat for a hot shower, to relief the tension in my sholders and to calm my mind.
While drying my hair, once done throwing on some clothes they had placed on the bed. I hear a knock on the door.
"Who is it?" I ask, pausing what I had been originally doing. "Holden." A calm deep voice said from the other end. I stiffen for a moment, thinking my ears had failed me, before dragging myself towards the door.
Pulling it open on gut instincts, I find a disheveled looking Holden standing at the entrance, leaning slightly against the door frame.
"Hey," he says with a small wave. I blink, confusion filling my senses. "Why are you here?" I ask, willing myself to remain as calm as possible. "Apparently we're both staying in this room together." He says, a small smirk dancing on his lips. I blink, slowly, before his words sink in like a heavy blow.
"What?" I ask, nearly yelling. "There is no other room left, so we both have to share. It's only temporary." Holden says, standing on his two feet now. I stare at him a while longer, still processing what he had just told me.
"May I come in? It's a bit cold out here and I need a warm bath." Holden says, arcing a brow at me. I blink, as though snapping out of my thoughts before moving aside for him to come through.
Shutting the door after he walks in, I hang the towel after drying my hair once more. Then lay on the bed. There is no couch in the room, because of its size, thus both I and Holden have to share the bed.
"Can I lay down?" Holden's deep masculine voice asks after some time. I was already groggy with sleep, hence I just hummed an approval. I feel the side of the bed dip u der his weight before he is fully under the blanket with me.
"Goodnight." I hear him whisper and I hum once more in reply. Too tired to argue. Just as I'm about to fall deeper into my slumber, I feel a muscular arm wrap itself around my waist.
Subconsciously, I snuggle into its embrace, too tired to pay attention to this as I finally fall into a deep slumber.
