Allen Rivera finished telling the joke, waited for a while, and didn't hear any laughter, feeling perplexed.
He looked up at the rearview mirror, saw Jane McCain's confused expression, and asked her, "You don't know Oedipus?"
Jane looked bewildered.
Allen chuckled and reminded her, "Oedipus is a tragic character in ancient Greek drama; he married his own mother."
Jane suddenly realized.
However, even after realizing, she didn't find it funny...
Allen, upfront, laughed twice to himself.
Jane: "..."
...
A twenty-minute drive later, Allen dropped Jane off at her doorstep.
After getting out of the car, Jane recalled today's events, walked around to the front of the car, took a palm-sized sunny doll out of her bag, and handed it to Allen.
"This is for you. Thanks for today."
Allen took it in his hand, turned it over, and saw four words printed on the bottom of the sunny doll: Kamei Washoku.
