Chapter 15 - Chapter 13: The Mountain Stronghold on Fire_1

Qin Feiyang held his breath, peering through the gaps in the tall grass, his gaze fixed intently on the burly man.

But the outcome was not what he expected.

The burly man didn't come to investigate.

What should I do now?

Anxiety consumed Qin Feiyang.

Suddenly, his eyes lit up. He pulled out the iron box the Wolf King had given him, took out a Bone-renewing Pill, and placed it on the grass above him.

"I don't believe you won't fall for it this time," Qin Feiyang sneered.

What holds the greatest allure in this world? Surely, it is elixir pills.

The pill's aroma swiftly wafted through the area.

"Why is there the smell of an elixir pill?" The burly man's eyes widened in surprise when he detected the fragrance. Sniffing intently, he took slow steps towards Qin Feiyang.

"It really is an elixir pill!"

"It looks like a Bone-renewing Pill!"

"I've struck it rich!"

When he saw the Bone-renewing Pill on the grass, the burly man was ecstatic and immediately reached out to grab it.

He completely failed to consider why an elixir pill would be lying there.

Just then, Qin Feiyang sprang up. Like a viper striking from the shadows, his dagger, Blue Snow, flashed, its sharp edge instantly slitting the burly man's throat. Blood spurted wildly!

Simultaneously, he shot out his left hand, clamping it tightly over the burly man's mouth, and dragged him into the deep ditch.

In less than Three Star, the burly man breathed his last and collapsed, dead.

Before dying, he stared fixedly at Qin Feiyang, his eyes filled with utter disbelief.

A sharp glint flashed in Qin Feiyang's eyes. This dagger, Blue Snow, is even more terrifying than I imagined.

He quickly composed himself, stripped the clothes from the burly man's corpse, wiped the bloodstains from the grass, and rearranged the grass slightly. Although some obvious traces remained, it was the dead of night; unless someone looked very closely, they wouldn't be noticed.

As for the smell of blood, the fragrance of the Bone-renewing Pill should be enough to mask it.

Qin Feiyang placed the Bone-renewing Pill in a slightly more conspicuous spot and continued to lie in wait in the deep ditch, anticipating the other burly man taking the bait.

The other burly man, who was middle-aged, walked to the base of the tree and scanned the surroundings. Finding nothing unusual, he returned the way he came, a trace of doubt lingering. When he returned to the stockade gate and saw his companion was missing, he didn't grow suspicious, merely assuming the man had gone to the latrine.

"Huh? A medicinal fragrance?"

Soon, he too caught the scent of the medicinal pill. A flicker of suspicion appeared in his eyes, and he followed the fragrance to its source.

The outcome was inevitable: he also died in Qin Feiyang's ambush.

After hastily covering the two corpses with some wild grass and dry leaves, Qin Feiyang retrieved the Bone-renewing Pill and ran towards the tree.

"White-Eyed Wolf, you can come out now," Qin Feiyang called softly.

The Wolf King opened his eyes and emerged from the bushes, a hint of inquiry in his gaze.

"Don't worry, they're dealt with. Next, we'll teach the people of Black Demon Village a harsh lesson." Qin Feiyang's eyes flashed with a cold light.

The Wolf King looked at him skeptically.

Qin Feiyang said, "See that torch? This village is built entirely of wood. A single spark, and the whole place will quickly go up in flames. I'm going to let them taste what it's like to be burned alive."

The Wolf King's pupils contracted. This human was even more ferocious than it!

"Let's go!" Qin Feiyang exclaimed, then turned and sprinted to the stockade gate. He found a stick as thick as an arm and, using wild grass and dry branches, quickly fashioned another torch.

"This torch is for you." He handed the torch to the Wolf King.

The Wolf King clamped it in his jaws.

Qin Feiyang leaped up, pulled down the torch stuck in the stockade gate, lit the torch in the Wolf King's jaws, and whispered, "We'll split up. We'll meet at the back of the village later."

Man and wolf simultaneously charged into the stockade, targeting anything flammable.

In less than Ten Star! Inside the stockade, flames surged to the heavens. Wooden huts and multi-story wooden buildings rapidly burst into flames!

"It's so hot!"

"So much thick smoke!"

"What's happening outside?"

The people of Black Demon Village were roused from their sleep one after another. As they opened their doors to look, their faces, without exception, changed drastically!

"This is bad!"

"The stockade's on fire!"

"Everyone, quick, come out and fight the fire!"

The entire stockade was instantly thrown into chaos. Figures rushed out from the buildings, carrying water to fight the flames.

However, the recent hot weather had made everything extremely dry. Not only were the flames not extinguished, but they burned even more fiercely! Quite a few people even caught fire themselves!

"What's going on?!" a furious roar echoed from a large burning building. A burly man dressed in black kicked the main door to splinters and charged out of the flames.

"Chief, we don't know what happened! The stockade just suddenly caught fire!"

"Several of our brothers have already burned to death!"

"Cough, cough! Chief, quickly, think of something!"

A group of men surged around him, utterly panicked.

The burly Chieftain scanned his surroundings, his expression incomparably grim. The entire stockade had practically become a sea of fire, trapping them within.

"This isn't a natural fire," the burly Chieftain roared. "If it were, it wouldn't be burning on all sides like this! This is arson! Someone wants to burn us alive! Who is it?! Get out here!"

"Chief, I just saw a wolf!" one assassin said anxiously as he ran up to the burly Chieftain.

"Chief, I think I saw an unfamiliar figure's back too!" another added.

"Where are they?!" the burly Chieftain demanded, his face contorted with rage.

"The smoke was too thick; we couldn't see clearly," both men replied, shaking their heads.

"Damn it! Find them!" the burly Chieftain bellowed. "They dare to come and burn our Black Demon Village! I swear I'll tear them limb from limb, or I'll never rest!"

"Aaarrgh—!"

"Chief, save me—!"

But his words were cut short by several agonizing screams. Several assassins, completely engulfed in flames, shrieked in pain as they stumbled towards the Chieftain and his men, crying for help.

"Chief, we should lead the brothers to retreat first," a somewhat older man in black attire stepped forward and said to the burly Chieftain. "Once we've escaped, it won't be too late to find them."

This man appeared to hold considerable sway in Black Demon Village, as the others nodded in agreement.

The burly Chieftain clenched his jaw, then nodded. "Alright. You lead everyone out."

"And you, Chief?" the older man in black asked.

"The wealth we've accumulated over the years is all in the cellar. I have to retrieve it all." Streams of white light surged from the burly Chieftain's body, enveloping him completely. Having said this, he turned and charged back into the large burning building without a second glance.

"Don't worry, everyone! The Chief is protected by his True Qi; the flames can't hurt him for a short period. Quickly, follow me!" the older man in black roared. He thrust a palm forward, and a powerful jet of True Qi erupted from it, forcefully parting the sea of flames blocking their path.

The remaining survivors of Black Demon Village followed the older man in black, rapidly fleeing outwards. As for those who were burning, the escapees didn't even spare them a glance, their indifference utterly chilling.

At the back of the stockade, on a small grassy knoll, Qin Feiyang and the Wolf King were lying in the grass, watching Black Demon Village engulfed in raging flames, a hint of satisfaction in their eyes.

Burning down Black Demon Village was incredibly satisfying.

Qin Feiyang glanced at Blue Snow in his hand, a grim, cold light flickering in his eyes. He turned to the Wolf King. "White-Eyed Wolf, feel like playing for even higher stakes?"

The Wolf King looked at him, puzzled, as if to ask, What do you have in mind?

Qin Feiyang licked his lips and grinned. "We'll plunder the treasures of Black Demon Village, and while we're at it, eliminate every last one of those ruthless, cold-blooded butchers!"
