The thing he dreaded the most still happened.
At this moment, watching her cry so painfully, he began to wonder—had he made a mistake?
What he considered his way of being good to her,
perhaps, for her, was a form of cruelty.
Ryan Gregory said nothing, the only thing he could do was hold her tightly.
Maybe heaven had shown him mercy, granting him her companionship during his final days.
He embraced her helplessly, his deep eyes awash with complex emotions.
The dim yellow light fell on both of them, casting their overlapping shadows on the ground, crooked and askew.

After taking a shower, she realized her eyes were so swollen that she could barely look at herself.
She couldn't even remember how many times she'd cried today.
As long as she thought of his illness, or of how she had misunderstood him, the pain in her heart felt like needles stabbing her, and the tears couldn't be stopped.
But she couldn't go on crying like this anymore.
