The party, it seems, was going to go on forever. Lin wei had been prepared to be sly, but never did she thought she'd be outslyed.

The slow buzz and hum of conversations going around, a twinkling laugh here, compliments and veiled insults there, infact did nothing to drown the twittering woman beside her.
A haughty woman by her right had introduced as herself as…a name Lin wei couldn't remember. She'd prattled on about how her family had been recently moved to tier one and how lucky her two children feels.
Lucky must interpreted with different expressions, because the one on her children's face didn't look like anything that could be remotely linked to luck.
It must have not been visible on their faces, because all Lin wei saw on their faces were absolute boredom and false humility.
The boy, a lanky teenager, and the girl a few years younger. They'd clinged to their mother, smiling when necessary but their eyes offered vacant looks.
