After Yuki and Lily had calmed down, Lily asked her brother.
"How did you do that? Catapulting Yamato, I mean."
"That? It was super easy for me! I just changed his gravitational pull instead of mine and made it 10 times stronger than normal!"
"How though… I can't do that."
"Maybe I'm just gifted!"
"Whatever…"
She pouted now and chose to ignore Andrew because he was better at something. But then decided to talk about tue obvious.
"So… Uhm, Yuki… Were that wings?"
"Ah! Now we have to kill them!"
"What?!"
Yamato pulled Yuki back, as she was already ready to end them.
"No we don't… This is not a short term relationship, so its fine."
"Aww… Fine! In that case, you two just forget about it!"
Lily even tried to for a moment, but soon realized that there was no way she could.
"…Like we could just do that!"
"I can. Bam, already did. Another thing I'm better at!"
"Shut the fuck up, Andrew!"
Yuki was wondering about how to resolve this situation. Were there bird people in this world? Could she just say she was one of them? Maybe. But she didn't want to be a bird person! She hated the very idea. She pictured a hundred bird people and killed them in her head. Then she chose a very subtle way to resolve this.
"I'm an angel~!"
"…Pft! Haha, not even I am that stupid! Who do you think we are, idiots? Ain't that right, Lil-"
"An angel?! Really?! I always wanted to meet an angel! I love angels! You even are as pretty as one!"
Andrew went silent and started ti rethink many things.
Yuki put her hand on her chest and stood proudly with a smug smile.
"Haha, that's right! I'm awesome!"
"You are!"
"…She is?"
"I am~"
Andrew removed himself from their proximity and went over to Yamato, who was just as des-interested in their odd way of bonding. However it seemed as though they would get along pretty well all of the sudden. Yuki made Lily promise not to tell anyone, and she agreed without a second thought. She also threatened to kill Andrew if he did not do the same and never attacked Yamato in any way or form ever again. Andrew was very convinced by her subtle persuasion!
Yamato left with Yuki again, once Lily and Andrew returned to their inn. It would probably still take a few days or weeks for Operation-Child's Play to actually start, but now since Yamato got a picture of Andrew's potential, he could work with it. The guard let them through without any problems, it was already beginning to be a routine for them since they remained one of the only students to actively leave school grounds. Once back at the dorms, Yuki went to her own room instead of Yamato's. She did not tell him why, but there was nothing weird about it either so he also did not push for an answer. Waiting in his room instead was, to Yamato's surprise, professor Reed. He stood in the middle of Yamato's room, looking out of the window as if waiting for him.
"Oh, there you are, Yamato."
"Can I help you with something?"
"Why, yes you can! You know… I'm in a predicament. You're a smart kid, aren't you?"
"I like to think that I am, yes?"
"Great. If it weren't for your exceptional results during every exam helt up until now, I would not offer this, you know?"
"Offer me what?"
"How would you like to switch classes and be in class 1? You didn't fit in class 3, oh it's 2 now, anyways. Isn't this great?"
"…Are you alright, professor?"
"Why, yes. I'm amazing! What about you?"
"Do you want to know what I think?"
"I would love to!"
"I think you have a problem that is somehow solved by me switching classes. The fact that you don't want me to know what it is, leads me to suspect something you'd rsther not have public."
"Ah… How vivid your imagination is!"
"There is no need to lie, professor. I won't tell anyone."
"Haha, you persuasive devil, you got me! Since you're so smart, you might actually help me out… I will be honest now, one student from class 1 is missing and two more are dead. Horrific scene, no need for details. Anyway, the one missing is alright since it happened during in exam, meaning our contract with you students covers that! Problem are the two dead ones. Y'know, especially class 1 is important for publicity. How else would I finance my book collections?! You may wonder how that's any different from the missing one publicity wise… Well, it kind of happened in their free time, on school grounds too. Which sucks because that is not covered in the risks and dangers every student agreed on taking when entering the academy. All in all, biiiig mess —But! If you take one place, and one of class 3, former class 2, does the same, every class has 14 students again. If it's all the same, no one will even notice! Do you get what I'm trying to tell you here?"
"I think so…?"
"He's just telling me two students died on campus with no explanation at all, and expects me to help him cover it up now because he asked nicely? I mean, I don't actually need an explanation because I know Yuki is responsible for that… But that's kind of fucked up, I think. Also, what was that about it not being a big deal because it happened during an exam? I mean, I've read the school regulations and the 70 page contract, but that he's so laid back about it is still worrying from a moral point of view. Though my main reason to cover that up was to preserve mine and Yuki's image and not make us publicly known as murderers. That would have hardly been advantageous for us… But regardless of all of that, this is my chance…"
Yamato walked up to him and also looked out the window.
"What if I told you I had a better idea?"
"That's unexpected… But I'm all ears!"
"How would you like to welcome two child prodigies on the magic lever near of Yuki into class 1? You said yourself that the missing student is not a big deal, so if you cover that up as well with your original plan, won't that look weird? Instead, just cover up the two spots that are missing now with even better students and admit to the missing student, to redirect attention from the worse problem."
"And you just happen to have thos etwo child prodigies waiting around?"
"I met them a couple of days ago, actually. We are truly in luck, are we not?"
"It would appear so! If you say that can even compare to Yuki, who is by far the most talented student at the school, I am very excited to meet them. Though… When you say child prodigy… How much child are we talking about…? "
"They are twins, ten years old, but very mature for their age. I'm sure they will do just fine."
"Hm… I will take your word for it…"
"That's great! You won't regret this, professor."
"I'm sure I won't. Well, I need to meet them as soon as possible though. How about tomorrow?"
"I could arrange that."
"Really? Oh, you are just fantastic, Yamato. You really saved me here, if you ever need something, don't hesitate to ask."
"Sure…"
"Why does it feel like he sees me as his friend? He's the headmaster…"
He left shortly after. And because Yamato was not permitted to have a single moment alone, Yuki entered only two minutes after the professor had left.
"I have returned!"
"From…?"
"That's a secret~!"
"Ah…"
"I was plotting!"
"That's great, Yuki…"
"It will be! You're gonna be head over heels for me in no time, once Operation Ultimate Seduction has commenced!"
"You really like naming these things, huh…"
"It's cute!"
"I guess… And you won't tell me what Operation Ultimate Seduction is about?"
"Feel free to figure it out on your own, Master! My hint for you is that the name is not meant literally~"
"I'm not wasting thoughts on wild speculations."
"Aww… But I want your thoughts to be about me!"
"If you are so confident in your operation, I'm sure they will turn out to be about you anyway…"
"Ah, that's true! But it's gonna take a while before I can start…"
"As long as it doesn't involve you killing any more of our classmates…"
"Jessica killed herself!"
Yamato let out a sigh, as their conversation was not moving anywhere. It would continue like this until it was dark outside, Yuki made no motion to leave, though she would have come back anyway even if she did. However even with their conversation not leading anywhere or serving a purpose, Yamato did not mind as much as he usually would. When she entered the room earlier, he even felt something like… relief? Why, he did not know. What to do with that fleeting feeling, he did not know either. He had gotten used to many little routines with her by now. He was wondering if that was weird, or even bad. The only way he was getting an answer to that question was probably by asking her, which he felt would hardly be an objective answer. Befroe going to bed he told Yuki about his conversation with professor Reed, which she was delighted to hear about.
"You didn't switch to class 1? Because of me~?"
"Why would I switch to a towards me hostile environment… It was also the perfect opportunity to get the twins in. Of course , not having you in my class was a important factor too."
"Awww! I wouldn't want to switch classes either if it meant I would be apart from you!"
"…We are probably going to be class 1 soon anyway. I cannot see a single benefit in changing, honestly."
"I'm glad we think alike in the matter, Master! We should totally never be apart from each other under any circumstances. Ever!"
