Where her husband had once been gentle and loving, he now looked furious.
His face was flushed red, and his eyes stared intensely at his wife.
Meanwhile, the wife froze in place, dazed—as if she couldn't believe her husband had just slapped her so hard.
But the redness on her cheek and the stinging pain were proof that it wasn't a dream.
"Honey, I'm sorry," she said hoarsely, lowering her head. Her body trembled as tears streamed down her face. "It's my fault, I admit it. Please... forgive me."
Unfortunately, the man's anger showed no signs of fading.
He shook his head slowly, glanced at his unconscious son lying on the bed, then turned and walked out of the room.
The woman flinched and tried to go after him but failed. He had already left, closing the door behind him and leaving behind an eerie silence.
Only her desperate sobs remained.
