At Cassell College, it was another sunny day.
After a day off, Lu Mingfei had finally become famous in school. His name was spreading fast, almost catching up to Chu Zihang and Caesar.
After all, single-handedly defeating all the students was unprecedented in the history of Cassell College. It was something that would probably never happen again for decades.
An S-Rank hybrid, truly deserving of the title!
Of course, even though he had defeated all the students and slaughtered nearly a hundred Death Servitor-like enemies with his chainsaw sword, Lu Mingfei was now facing a challenge many students would face.
That challenge was... the 3E exam!
The 3E exam was short for Extraction Evaluation Exa, a bloodline assessment exam primarily used to test students' dragon bloodline.
Descendants of dragons resonate with the Draconic Texts, and during this resonance, they experience a special sight—seeing Draconic Texts appear in their minds.
Students who are not sensitive to the Draconic Texts are usually deemed to have insufficient bloodline power, and they are either downgraded or expelled.
Lu Mingfei was squatting in his dorm room, staring at the old "real exam questions" he had bought from Finger, scratching his head in frustration.
Now, how did he end up in this situation? It all started with the "Draconic Texts Resonance" issue.
As an S-rank hybrid, Lu Mingfei had shockingly no resonance with the Imperium Word Soul whatsoever. In situations like this, it was typically considered a sign of a low-level bloodline.
But the problem was that Lu Mingfei's impressive battle record was right there for everyone to see, and no one expected a hybrid like him to fail even the basic Draconic Texts resonance test.
The real reason, only Lu Mingfei knew. Maybe it was because his bloodline was too high-ranking, even a Word Soul like "Imperium" couldn't resonate with him at all.
"Hey, little devil, are you really not going to help me?" He was both helpless and frustrated, glaring at Lu Mingze, who was grinning mischievously beside him.
"Not helping is one thing, but just standing there watching... you're too cruel!"
"Hey~ Brother, you can't say that."
The little devil, somehow having gotten a lollipop, stuffed it in his mouth and puffed out his cheeks, saying, "I'm just letting you stand on your own feet, how is that just watching?"
"Forget it, if you really had a conscience, you'd help me get through this tough spot!"
Lu Mingfei, with his last bit of hope, looked at Lu Mingze.
"Don't look at me~ I'm out of ideas," Lu Mingze shrugged, sucking on his lollipop, saying, "If it was before, I could've helped you bluff your way through, but now... I can't do it anymore."
"Then why can't you help now?" Lu Mingfei asked anxiously.
"Brother, you should know that the Dragon King is always a pair of twins, one controls 'power,' the other controls 'authority,' right?" Lu Mingze bit down on his lollipop, tilting his head and looking at him.
"Yeah, and then?" Lu Mingfei frowned, confused.
"Who do you think I am?"
Lu Mingze pointed at himself and suddenly changed the topic.
"Black King?"
Lu Mingfei was no longer the clueless person he once was.
So, he had a guess about Lu Mingze's identity, but he couldn't confirm it.
"Not entirely right." Lu Mingze shook his head, suddenly smiling. He jumped off the table beside him, turned his back to Lu Mingfei, and looked out the window.
In a low voice, he said, "It's a good thing you didn't finish that book. The rest doesn't matter. You just need to know one thing: no one can go against your will, including me."
"Is that the reason you can't help me?" Lu Mingfei asked.
"Yes, unless... you're willing to sacrifice a quarter of your soul." Lu Mingze grinned, turning around. He pulled himself out of the sorrowful atmosphere and became that mischievous little devil again.
"Of course, I don't mind. But I wonder if you do?"
"Forget it. I'll take the exam myself!" Lu Mingfei decisively shook his head in refusal.
What a joke. He was a powerless weakling before the training, and now he's supposed to trade his soul? Was all that suffering for nothing?
Fine, he'd just slack off. If he couldn't pass, so be it. He didn't believe that Cassell would really expel him over a 3E exam!
"I'm not looking anymore!"
Lu Mingfei tossed aside the expensive past exam papers, lying flat on his back on the dorm bed.
The next day, under everyone's gaze, Lu Mingfei walked into the exam room.
Due to the chaos from the Day of Liberty incident, Lu Mingfei was the only one attending the exam. The others were still lying in the school clinic.
The exam was simple: a powerful rhythm in the music, with Draconic Texts mixed in.
The test takers would unconsciously resonate with the Draconic Texts while listening, activating spirit vision, and writing out one or more segments of Draconic Texts to evaluate their bloodline level.
Lu Mingfei was bored. He couldn't resonate with the Draconic Texts at all. All he could do was look at the past exam questions in his mind and randomly scribble on the blank paper.
Anyway, he didn't care about the results anymore. There was no way they'd really expel him, right?
When the exam time was over, the proctor, Guderian, walked in and saw Lu Mingfei sleeping on the desk. He was so angry that he almost pulled out his beard.
"Lu Mingfei!"
"Ah!"
Lu Mingfei woke up from his nap, drool hanging from his mouth, staring blankly at Guderian. "Professor? Is the exam over?"
"You're done with the exam. If I hadn't come in, would you have slept until it's dark?" Guderian asked angrily, grabbing a few exam papers and staring at the pictures on them.
His brow furrowed slightly, but he didn't say much more. He tossed the papers into the black password box and said, "Lu Mingfei, the principal wants you to go to his office."
"Huh? Now?" Lu Mingfei glanced outside the classroom. It was already near dinner time, and he wasn't too eager to go.
There was a limited edition Stuttgart pork knuckle in the cafeteria today, with crispy skin and tender meat. It was juicy with every bite, and he had been craving it for a while. If he went too late, it might be gone!
"Yes, now. Hurry up!"
Guderian tugged at his beard and glanced at the troublemaker who caused the school break. He angrily added, "I don't want to see you here again, you annoy me!"
Great. Running into a powder keg!
Lu Mingfei sighed and reluctantly left the classroom. He called Finger, asking him to grab a couple more pork knuckles for him.
As for the price, it would be his treat.
Though Finger seemed disheveled and had been held back four years, he was actually of A-rank Hybrid—no ordinary fighter. Snatching pork knuckles was a piece of cake for him.
After getting that off his chest, Lu Mingfei finally made his way to the principal's office.
Knock knock knock!
Standing outside the door, he knocked a few times, and a voice from inside called, "Come in."
Lu Mingfei opened the door and saw the elderly man with silver hair sitting at his desk, a tea set placed in front of him with three teacups steaming.
"Sit."
Hilbert raised his hand, signaling Lu Mingfei to take a seat.
Confused, Lu Mingfei could only obediently sit down next to him, waiting for what was next.
"Have some tea."
Hilbert pointed at the teacup and said淡淡 (calmly).
Lu Mingfei picked up the teacup and drank it in one go, then asked impatiently, "Principal, what did you need me for?"
"You're in a hurry?" Hilbert looked at him with some curiosity.
"The cafeteria has limited-edition pork knuckles today." Lu Mingfei answered sincerely.
Ever since the hellish Galactic War, after returning to reality, he developed a deep love for food. It was one of his few hobbies.
"Hahaha, I love that reason!"
Hilbert laughed at the excuse, shaking his head. "By the way, there's also this cup of tea. Let your little brother come out too."
"You know him?"
Lu Mingfei was a bit shocked.
"I know, I know a little more than you do."
Hilbert made a mysterious gesture with his fingers, leaving a small gap, looking cryptic.
Got it, the "finger universe," huh?
Lu Mingfei looked to the side. Suddenly, the little devil appeared, sitting in a chair beside him, picking up a teacup and taking a sip. "We should be meeting for the first time, right?"
He thought Hilbert couldn't see the little devil. He was about to explain when he saw Hilbert nodding. "Yes, it's our first time."
"You can see him?" Lu Mingfei was even more surprised. He always thought only he could see the little devil.
"I'm not blind."
Hilbert glared at Lu Mingfei, then picked up his teacup and took a sip.
"Back to business. Caesar has gotten into some trouble in Europe. The Gattuso family is after him and wants our help. After thinking about it, I decided to send you, Xia Mi, Chu Zihang, and Nono. What do you think?"
Lu Mingfei shot a glare at the little devil beside him, then said, "So, what do you plan to do about it?"
"Smart kid," Hilbert chuckled, putting down his teacup. He spoke calmly, "Since he's a student of Cassell, it's only natural that Cassell handles it. Got it?"
"Got it."
Lu Mingfei nodded and asked, "Is there anything else? If not, I'll be on my way."
"Mm, just leave Lu Mingze here."
Hilbert's gaze fell on Lu Mingze, and he smiled faintly. "Let's have a talk, shall we?"
"Sure."
Lu Mingze turned to Lu Mingfei and said, "Brother, you go ahead. I'll have a talk with the principal."
