Chapter 243 - Chapter 243: Arrival

The Isle of Armor, a vast island located east of Galar, was home to a diverse range of environments—beaches, forests, wetlands, deserts, and caves. Its unique ecosystem made it a haven for many Pokémon, including rare species not typically found in mainland Galar.

Once an uninhabited island belonging to the former Galar royal family, it was rumored that the royals kept it secluded to protect its precious Armorite Ore.

Fifteen years ago, however, Mustard—a legendary Champion who held the title for eighteen consecutive years—returned from his travels and announced that he had purchased the entire island. His decision shocked Galar, as fans speculated about his reasons.

Before long, Mustard revealed his plan—he was building a dojo, a place to train both Trainers and Pokémon in combat techniques. With his incredible reputation, the dojo quickly became a hotspot for rising Trainers, attracting many challengers from across the region.

Even to this day, the dojo remained a well-respected training ground. Many of Galar's strongest Trainers had honed their skills there, including one particularly exceptional student—Leon, the current Champion.

Along with the dojo, Mustard had also constructed two towering structures—one on the plateau, the other by the shore. While their true purpose remained unknown to the public, they became popular tourist attractions.

Of course, Summer knew exactly what those towers were for—Urshifu's evolution trials.

It was even rumored that Leon had once been offered the chance to train a Kubfu, but due to his infamous sense of direction, he somehow missed the opportunity.

If Leon had actually trained an Urshifu, he'd be even more terrifying than he is now…

"Cawww!"

Corviknight let out a joyful cry as it soared through the open sky. Nothing was more exhilarating than flying freely over the ocean.

Summer chuckled. "Looks like you've spotted the Isle of Armor too, Corviknight."

"Caw! Caw!" (Of course! I have exceptional eyesight!)

The armored bird puffed out its chest with pride. Hah, Isle of Armor! Prepare to hand over all your Armorite Ore and Max Mushrooms—I'm about to get even stronger!

"Let's land on the southern plains," Summer instructed, scanning the island's terrain. "The dojo is there. Since it's our first time here, it's best to gather some local intel before we start searching."

More importantly, the dojo residents might already have information on where to find Armorite Ore and Max Mushrooms, saving him the trouble of searching blindly.

"Caw!" (Got it! Hold on tight—we're going in!)

Corviknight tucked in its wings, diving into a rapid descent.

The sudden plummet startled the other Corviknight working as Flying Taxi services. If they ever pulled a stunt like that, they'd be buried under customer complaints for weeks.

Fields of Honor – Isle of Armor

A long river split the vast plains into two sections—the southern side housed the Isle of Armor Station, while the northern side was home to Mustard's dojo.

With a loud crash, Corviknight landed with force, kicking up a cloud of dust. The sudden impact drew the attention of the Slowpoke lounging on the nearby beach.

They slowly turned their heads, blinking in unison.

"Slow…?"

Then, as if they immediately forgot what happened, they went back to basking in the sun.

Cough, cough. Summer waved a hand in front of his face, trying to clear the dust. "Corviknight, next time, try not to land like that…"

Corviknight gave him an apologetic look. I just got excited seeing all those other Corviknight. Had to show off a little, you know?

Summer sighed. Yep. That's exactly what I expected.

"…Forget it. If you didn't do stuff like this, you wouldn't be yourself," he said with a shake of his head. He lifted a Poké Ball. "Take a break, Corviknight. You worked hard."

With a flash of light, Corviknight returned to its ball.

As Summer turned to cross the bridge toward the dojo, a loud argument suddenly erupted behind him.

Two strangely dressed individuals stormed out of the station, bickering loudly.

"Hah! You ridiculous, over-the-top golden-haired peacock! You actually think you deserve to be the next Gym Leader? And your ace is Slowbro?! That's literally my whole thing!"

A pink-haired woman with heavy eyeliner and a Dustox-themed headpiece crossed her arms in mock indignation. Her eyes were hidden beneath thick bangs, and her dramatic makeup made her look like trouble incarnate.

"Hoho! Such an unrefined woman—your words lack elegance." The blond man in a black top hat smirked, adjusting his monocle. Several Poké Balls floated around his hat, suspended in midair by psychic energy.

"I refuse to lower myself to your level, but I will say this—you are clearly not Gym Leader material. Unlike me and my magnificent Slowbro, who shall lead the Psychic-type Gym to greatness! If you continue with such nonsense, I won't hesitate to levitate you into the ocean!"

Summer recognized them immediately.

Clara and Avery—dojo students and absolute pains in the ass.

Clara was a Poison-type Trainer who tried way too hard to be liked but was manipulative and scheming behind the scenes.

Avery, on the other hand, was a descendant of a Psychic-type family… but his actual psychic abilities were garbage—he could barely lift small objects. That didn't stop him from having an ego bigger than a Wailord.

The last thing Summer wanted was to get involved with either of them.

He quickened his pace, hoping to slip away before they noticed him.

Too late.

Clara had already spotted him.

"Hey! That guy with the super flashy Corviknight landing—he's heading to the dojo, isn't he?!" she hissed. "Ugh, such an attention-grabbing show-off! We can't let him inside!"

Avery sneered, adjusting his monocle. "For once, we agree. That Corviknight of his… its psychic presence is immensely powerful."

He flicked his cape dramatically. "We must eliminate the competition before he becomes a threat. A rare moment of clarity from you, madam."

Having formed an unholy alliance, the two rushed ahead, cutting off Summer's path.

Panting, they both shouted—

"You're here for the dojo training, right?! Well, guess what—only three people can compete for two available spots!" Clara declared.

Avery scoffed. "Indeed. If you know what's good for you, you should quit now before embarrassing yourself. We are far superior!"

Summer rubbed his temples, already regretting coming here.

Dammit, Corviknight. This is your fault.

"…Fine," he exhaled, pulling out two Poké Balls. "I don't have time for this. You both can battle me at the same time."

Clara clenched her teeth. "Cocky and good-looking?! Unacceptable!"

Avery's eyes narrowed. "Such arrogance! I cannot allow a personality rival to exist!"

With grins of overconfidence, they each grabbed a Poké Ball.

If this fool wanted to fight them both at once, he was about to learn a painful lesson.
