Jane frowned. "And we're just supposed to believe that? If he really owns the path to the Moon, why didn't the government step in? And why hasn't the public heard anything about it?"
She folded her arms tighter, clearly not convinced. Darcy watched Sharky carefully, waiting to hear what he'd say next.
"Because the government didn't dare," Dr. Selvig said, answering Jane's doubts. "Some past governments tried to challenge the Alexanders, but those who did… disappeared without a trace."
He turned to Sharky. "Are you really Stephen Alexander's son-in-law?"
"Of course," Sharky replied confidently.
Selvig nodded slowly. "Alright… then we'll talk about how to cooperate on this project—once Thomas wakes up."
With that, the group shifted their focus back to Thomas, who was still unconscious. No one noticed when he might've stirred, or what might've changed inside him.
