Just as I finished snapping the documents, I heard the faint sound of footsteps outside. Voices, low and murmured, approached the office. I waited until the voices had distanced themselves from the room before I slipped out of the records room, closing the door behind me quietly.
I moved quickly but cautiously, sticking to the shadows as I made my way back to the fence. I squeezed through the gap in the barbed wire, pausing only to grab my backpack on the other side.
I walked away from the port. Now that I knew when the ship was going to arrive, i had to go and get ready for the war that will be waged tomorrow.
The night came in the blink of an eye for me. I felt like I didn't sleep throughout the night. Though I had spent most of the night planning this operation, I still had a lot of decisions to make. But I guess they will all be carried out on the battlefield. I informed Baba as soon as I got back, about my thesis of Mr. Jean being the mastermind behind all their happenings.
Nightfall came at its own pace as though reluctant to watch the blood flow at the Port Authority.
I quietly made my way to the Port Authority. The shipment was expected to reach by midnight. I went two hours early and began planting bombs in strategic positions. Luckily for me, this wasn't a crude oil port if not explosions would have meant the deaths of everyone including me.
I lay a few meters away from the dock and waited patiently for the ship to arrive while watching everywhere with my binoculars and night vision goggles. I was awakened by the horn of the ship. For some reason, the ship wasn't the only one that was allowed to enter at that time.
"They are trying to be smart," I mumbled as I continued watching as the ship dropped anchor. "Guess it's time."
I made my way stealthily towards the ship moving in the shadows. I walked around the ship placing bombs in strategic places. When I was satisfied with the work, I quickly returned to my watch tower. I laid down and picked up my binoculars night vision goggles and began scanning my environment. I was about to bring out the remote for the bombs when I felt a cold blade touching my back.
"Dont you try anything funny." I turned slowly and saw a huge man holding a rather sharp-looking knife. I stood up slowly and walked past him while he followed me behind with a knife pointed directly at my back. We walked towards the ship and he let me in.
"Chief, I found this girl snooping around." The man said as he threw me across the room.
"Nicely done. Take her to one of the empty rooms and lock her there." The man dragged me from where I sat down in pain. The man opened the door and just as he was about to throw me inside I hit him on his jaw. He released me in pain and I slipped behind him and pushed him inside the room and locked it.
As I made my way toward the exit, a bullet flew past me from behind landing on the wall. I turned only to find three armed men. I quickly dodged them and hit the wall of a hallway. I brought out a gun from my back removed the safety and waited patiently for the men to approach me. I came out from behind the wall and shot three bullets which landed on their respective targets.
I made quickly for the entrance. But by the time I reached the entrance, all the guards who were previously stationed there were no more there. Cautiously, I stepped out of the ship, carefully analyzing the environment with the gun raised to my chest level, ready for action. When I didn't see any strange movement, I made way with speed towards my watchtower. I laid down and used my binoculars and night vision goggles. It seemed as though everyone was inside the ship searching for me.
I slowly brought out the control from my backpack and pressed. I blinked my eyes at the brightness of the explosion. There was commotion among the workers.
I quickly came down from my temporary hideout. I scanned the environment making sure that everybody's attention was drawn to the burning ship. I had already gone beyond the port when I noticed three shadows following me.
"Who are you?" I asked as I stopped, scanning the environment. Two men appeared at my back and a third before me. "Hope you haven't come to collect the bounty on my head." The men simply smiled and brought out knives. I stayed alert carefully moving my eyes between them.
One of the first men launched at me with full speed swinging his knife with such force that it took more than just my flexibility to move. Dodging his knife and watching the other two at the same time was hard to do. He swung his arm at me and I grabbed it and twisted it causing the knife to fall on the ground. I used my knee to hit his elbow dislocating his arm. He screamed in pain. I picked up his knife and stabbed him in the shoulder.
The second man came and grabbed me from the back before I could regain my balance. The third one took his knife and dug it deep in my calf and shoulder. I screamed in pain. As he came closer to stab me, I kicked him in his manhood. He quickly dropped the knife and he bent holding his stomach in pain.
I elbowed the second man from behind and with speed, i picked up the knife the third man dropped on the ground. Just as I turned, he stabbed me on my flanks just above my rib cage. Instinctively, I stabbed him in his shoulder and again in his arm.
I quickly ran towards the main room. I had already lost so much blood, if I didn't find a way to stop the bleeding, there was no guarantee that I was going to survive. Just as I was about to cross the road, I was blinded by a headlight. The car horn was so deafening that I couldn't anything out of what was happening until the car stopped a few inches from me.
A man ran out immediately. I stared at him and froze. Alessandro? What was he doing here? He was supposed to be out of town.
