What came into view was a pair of almond blue eyes and a perfectly handsome face framed by dark brown hair.
Darren looked at her with an 'innocent' smiling face
"You again... you didn't give me your name last time, mind telling?"
He asked with a mischievous glint in his light blue eyes.
Leila was a little surprised to see him here but masked it well, she knew a little about the kingdom of Kardin because the servants loved to gossip and talk a lot so she overheard some conversations, like it was located at the north of the continent and was the largest and most powerful kingdom in the continent, even more powerful than the kingdom of Varre.
She also heard that the current emperor was a mysterious figure and no one except his close allies, and he always has a representative taking his place at public gatherings.
Many rumours has been circulated about him, both good and bad, but mostly bad, like he's ugly and lazy, or he's sick and old, none of which the netizens can confirm.
She didn't waste time in taking a step back and giving a respectful bow, she might not have an impression of him, but for him to be here in the guest palace of the Kingdom of Kardin's entourage, he must be an important figure, he might even be the king's representative. So she couldn't be reckless.
She replied him curtly with her head bowed.
"Leila your grace".
He smirked in amusement at her sudden docile demeanour "nice name Leila, where are you from, you look.... different from everyone here".
He inquired out of genuine curiosity, and his demon blood told him there was more to this little maid than meets the eye.
"I've been in the palace ever since I was a baby your grace, I have no information of my origin"
She said and he believed her for some reason. A mischievous glint passed through his eyes before he said
"Okay, I'll leave you to your work. Go to the east wing of theast floor and clean the last room I've there for me".
He ordered in false strictness which she could tell but she still gave a bow and made her way to clean the room.
He watched her go with a smirk
"Well this is going to be fun, I hope he'll figure out what's weird about her".
He whispered to himself and continued on his way down the stairs while whistling without a care in the world.
She arrived at the last floor and went to the last door on the east wing, she stood in front of it and entered without knocking , because she didn't think anyone would be inside since he asked her to clean it.
The room was empty when she entered, she quietly made her way to the massive window and stared at the beautiful view of the garden which she hadn't been to yet, she closed her eyes when a soft wind blew in from the window, he beautiful hair danced along with the wind, she took in a deep breath which carried the fragrant smell of flowers and it soothed her soul.
Her connection with nature has always intrigued her, she felt like she was one with it, same with water, she loved the rivers and she has heard tales the sea and ocean but has never seen one.
It's one of her dreams but she doesn't know it's it will ever come to pass.
She kept her thoughts aside allow herself to connect with the wind and nature, she stretched her slender hands outside the window and she felt a force in her and pushed it out, and in response a beautiful blue flower floated towards her, it was like a magnet's connection to metals, the flower slowly came in front of her and she wrapped her fingers around it and brought it to her
perceive more of the nice calming smell of the flower.
"What are you doing here"
She gasped and quickly turned around while hiding the flower behind her back.
She was normally perceptive and guarded, but once she entered this room she left her guard down for some reason.
She should've checked properly, now she felt like she was a little stupid.
She opened her moutyhto say something but the words got stuck in her throat as she stared back at the same face she saw that night she couldn't fall asleep and decided to take a stroll in the garden.
She closed her mouth back immediately, not like he could tell since she was wearing a scarf.
He showed a cold and expressionless face that betrayed no emotion, he took slow deliberate steps towards her and when he came directly in front of her he stared into her deep blue eyes that also betrayed no emotion, and then his eyes went to hand hand she was holding behind her back before returning it to her face.
He repeated coldly in a low threatening voice
"I asked you a question..."
