Night time in the middle of the road a large vehicle it's heading to a maelstrom stronghold I'm inside the vehicle with David Falco Rebecca and two new recruits Julio and Saeko one of Wakako grandchildren she has short black hair and a beautiful face she is well equipped compared to Julio who doesn't stop shaking.
"Are you going to Wet your pants Julio we're not even there yet" Says Rebecca
"of course not I'm just excited" says Julio
"yeah right you're wakako bitch Heard you are a fan of the cyber dogs" say Rebecca
"Do not speak ill of my grandmother." says Saeko
"Come on Rebecca be nice sorry about that She is like that don't mind her The two of you packing heat." I said
"I have two weapons on me that can Pierce armored." Says saeko
"Ah I just got this regular pistol" says Julio
"That kind of weapon won't be affected to maelstrom armor take this". says David handing him a satara.
We arrive towards our destination and what awaits us was an army of maelstrom Falco stayed behind leaving only the 5 of us With an army we weren't afraid well except for Julio. Saeko Maintain a calm expression but I can see that she's Very tents.
Lots of the melstrom started to insult us one of them came close and print it his gun on my head I think pay attention I was on my phone I press on the screen and every one of the Melstrom in front of us got hacked and we started our assault except for Julio who's ducking his head.
ahhhh i don't want to die say Julio
Rebecca runs out of bullets the maelstrom saw their opportunity and started to shoot at her unfortunately for them Rebecca has something up her sleeve She was in a position Activated her cyberware her red and blue vest launches towards the maelstrom the two fists are attached with elastic material which she can't recall back and launch it again it's literally a gomu gomu no gating gun From one piece built by me I always thought that the cyberware was a waste just makes it possible to wield bigger guns I thought it would be more useful if actually can punch.
Night Raid
It was nighttime, and a large vehicle rumbled down the road toward a known Maelstrom stronghold. Inside the armored transport, I sat with David, Falco, Rebecca, and two new recruits: Julio and Saeko.
Saeko, one of Wakako's grandchildren, looked calm and composed. Short black hair framed her beautiful face, and she was clearly well-equipped for combat. Julio, on the other hand, looked like he was about to puke. He hadn't stopped shaking since we left.
Rebecca leaned toward him, grinning.
"You gonna wet your pants, Julio? We're not even there yet."
"Of course not! I'm just… excited," he said, clearly lying.
"Yeah, right. You're Wakako's bitch. Heard you're a big fan of the Cyber Dogs," she snorted.
"Do not speak ill of my grandmother," Saeko said coldly, without even looking at her.
I sighed. "Come on, Rebecca. Be nice. Sorry about that—you'll get used to her. Anyway, you two packing heat?"
"I've got two weapons that can pierce armored targets," Saeko replied confidently.
"Uhh… I just brought this pistol," Julio said, holding it up like it was a sacred relic.
"That kind of pea-shooter won't do shit against Maelstrom armor," David said, handing him a Satara. "Take this. You'll need it."
Eventually, we rolled up to the stronghold—and sure enough, waiting for us was a small Maelstrom army. Falco stayed back with the vehicle, which left just the five of us to handle the job.
We weren't afraid. Well… most of us weren't. Julio looked like he was halfway to passing out. Saeko kept her cool, but I could tell she was tense. Her grip on her weapon was just a little too tight.
The Maelstrom crew started yelling at us, calling us names, daring us to make a move. One bold bastard stepped forward, shoved his gun in my face.
I didn't even flinch.
I was on my phone.
Just as he sneered at me, I tapped the screen.
In an instant, every Maelstrom in front of us locked up—hacked. Frozen in place.
Showtime.
Gunfire erupted as we launched our assault. Everyone sprang into action—except Julio, who immediately dropped to the ground and screamed:
"AHHHH! I don't wanna die!"
Rebecca blew through her ammo fast. Click. Empty. Maelstrom spotted the opening and began firing at her—big mistake.
She crouched, grinning.
Her red-and-blue hands lit up as she activated her cyberware. With a fwump, both of her fists launched out on elastic cables, slamming into the enemy line. Chrome cracked. Sparks flew. Screams erupted.
Each fist snapped back into place, only to be fired again. A brutal rhythm. A cybernetic Gomu Gomu no Gatling Gun—straight out of One Piece, and yeah, I built it myself.
I always thought most cyberware was kinda lame—just makes it easier to lift heavier guns. I figured, why not make it useful? Why not let someone punch through steel?
And right now? Rebecca was showing exactly how useful it could be.
We kept moving forward, killing any Maelstrom scum that dared to stand in our way.
Eventually, we reached a wide opening—and waiting for us was the leader, flanked by three heavily chromed-up goons. All three were built like Maine: tall, jacked, and terrifying. Except these guys? Ugly as hell. Scars, metal plating, jagged cyberware—you name it.
"You're dead, meatbags," the leader growled. "Show 'em what happens when they mess with the Maelstrom gang!"
On cue, the three freaks lunged forward with blinding speed. Each one was running a Sandevistan.
But just before they reached us—everything changed.
They were suddenly airborne, blood spraying from their mouths. Still conscious, but stunned. That was me—punching all three into the air in a single burst.
And it didn't stop there.
David and Rebecca followed up, unloading on them while they were still airborne. Their weapons were modded for high damage and armor piercing. The three Maelstrom elites were riddled with holes before they ever hit the ground.
For a few seconds, their bodies floated—then splat. They landed like sacks of meat, a mangled mess of blood, chrome, and bone.
The leader's face went pale. He turned to run.
Too late.
He looked down and saw a massive red cybernetic hand gripping his leg. He turned back and saw Rebecca grinning.
"Going somewhere?"
She yanked hard, reeling him in like a fish on a line. He slammed into the ground with a heavy crack.
Gasping in pain, he looked up—and froze. We were all standing over him, weapons aimed.
He opened his mouth to plead.
We didn't let him.
Bang. Bang. Bang. Bang. Bang. Bang. Bang.
The leader's body went limp, riddled with bullets.
With that, we moved on to our real objective—this was a rescue mission, requested by Wakako. Maelstrom had been kidnapping people. Why? We didn't know. Only Wakako did.
We found them—civilians, scared but alive—and escorted them outside. Above us, our aircraft hovered in place. A sleek marine-blue beast with the Cyber Dogs logo painted in gold across the hull. It was about the same size as a Militech Manticore—fully modded, fully armored, and indestructible.
It landed gently in front of us, and the hatch opened.
Gloria stood at the ramp. Our pilot.
"How bad is it?" she asked.
"No casualties," I said. "But a lot of them are hurt pretty bad."
She nodded and called the civilians forward to treat their injuries. She'd been working hard ever since she woke up from her coma.
It hadn't been easy.
When Gloria first came to, she was furious. Maine took the brunt of it—calming her down, explaining the situation. David filled her in on everything from the start: about the merc work, the cyberware, the shootouts. She wasn't happy. Not at all.
She called her old workplace, trying to get her job back. They refused.
Eventually, David took her in—they'd been kicked out of their old apartment anyway. He let her stay with him.
The next day, I confronted her. We argued. A lot of back and forth.
I told her she had every right to be angry with me for dragging David into danger. But he needed the money. And more than that, he needed to know how to survive. Night City doesn't care if you're ready or not.
If I hadn't stepped in?
He could've ended up somewhere much worse.
Since Gloria already had medical training, I proposed she work with us as field support—helping the injured during ops and looking after rescued civilians. Ironically enough, she now makes fifteen times what she did at her old job. And on top of that? She's become kind of a celebrity. Especially among the kids.
One of them even called her an angel.
That stuck.
Now people call her "The Angel of Night City."
So... what happened to the Edgerunners?
They disbanded.
Maine and Dorio left Night City. Turns out, if you've got enough money and the right contacts, it's not hard to disappear. Even easier for Maine—MaxTac had already pronounced him dead.
Falco still helps us from time to time. Freelance, same as always.
Kiwi's gone solo—figures.
As for Pilar? That bastard skipped town without saying a word to Rebecca. Real brotherly love, huh?
Oh, and he didn't leave empty-handed. He took almost all of Rebecca's weapons, pawned them, and didn't even pay rent before vanishing. Needless to say, she was pissed.
With barely anything left and bills stacking up, she tried to make ends meet doing small gigs. Problem was... clients didn't take her seriously. Probably because of her appearance. She looks like a little girl—even though she's way older than she seems.
She body-sculpted her skin like that on purpose.
Author's Note:
Apparently her skin is actually white. I always thought it was a sickly green.
She also has a Mox tattoo—didn't notice that before.
Anyway, gigs didn't go well. Clients either underestimated her or got scared once she opened her mouth. You know how she is—short fuse, big guns.
Eventually, she went to David for help.
He brought her to our hideout and asked if we could let her join. Honestly? If I didn't already know her, I'd have said no. But I know how loyal she is. Yeah, she's crazy. Trigger-happy too. But she's got our back when it counts.
So we let her in.
I did tell her to wear some damn clothes for once—but she's stubborn as hell. In the end, I just gave up and modded her black jacket to make it combat-ready.
I walked over to Julio and Saeko.
"This is where we part ways," I said.
"Wait, what? Why?" Julio asked, clearly surprised.
"This was just a one-time gig requested by Wakako. And honestly… from what I saw, you're not ready. Not yet. You barely fired your weapon. You were on edge the whole time—panicking."
Julio looked like he was about to protest, but I raised a hand to stop him.
"You can't take shortcuts, Julio. If you do, you'll end up dead. Take your time. Train. Keep your head straight when things go south—because out here, all it takes is one bullet to the skull."
"…Oh. Okay. Thank you," he said, nodding slowly.
I gave him a nod back, then turned to Saeko.
"You did great. You were prepared, well-equipped… but I noticed something."
"What do you mean?" she asked.
"The way you fought—head-on combat—it doesn't suit you. You handled it fine, but it felt... off. I think you'd be better operating from the shadows, like a ninja. You strike me as the type who prefers to scout, analyze, then strike when the time is right. But hey—that's just my opinion. In the end, it's your path to choose."
"I see… Thank you," she said.
I waved the two of them off.
Somewhere in Night City, there was a bar gated off just for mercs. The same place the Edgerunners used to celebrate after a big gig. The place was alive—music, laughter, drinks flowing like water.
I sat alone on top of our van, looking up at the sky without a care in the world.
Rebecca… she's got feelings for David. I can see it clear as day. It's a little weird, though—she knows he's in a relationship with Lucy. But maybe this kind of thing is normal in Night City. And something tells me Lucy already knows.
Faraday tried to hire us again.
Of course, I couldn't resist messing with him.
He walked in with his usual smug attitude, thinking we'd jump at the chance. I asked him if he brought a résumé.
He actually looked confused for a second.
Then I told him straight up: "We're not interested."
Still trying to play tough, he threatened us. Said we should reconsider. I just stared him down and said:
"Fuck off."
It had been a long time since we last heard from Faraday, but I knew better than to believe he'd vanished. He's planning something—I'm sure of it. How? Because I installed hidden cameras in his apartment. He's been watching us, so I figured it's only fair I return the favor.
Lucy hasn't been doing gigs with us lately. She's been too busy hunting down netrunners. I know this because there've been rumors—many netrunners turning up dead. No one else knows the truth… except me. But I kept quiet. It's her business. If she wants to tell us, she will. At least there's no drama between her and David.
A month later
We got a call from Kiwi. She needed help with a major gig.
I asked her who the client was.
She dodged the question. Just said, "It pays big," then gave us the gig details and hung up.
But I already knew who the client was.
Faraday.
And worse—he had Lucy.
After Kiwi finished explaining everything, I turned to the others. We were all gathered at the Cyber Dogs' hideout. The mood was tense. Everyone reacted differently, but the most common emotions were anger and betrayal.
I told them everything.
I showed them the moment Faraday took Lucy.
I played the recording—Faraday's conversation with Kiwi.
They were ready to move, to tear down anything in their way to rescue her. But I stopped them.
"I have a plan," I said. "We're not just going to rescue Lucy. We're going to erase every record they have on us—every file, every trace. That includes David's use of the Sandevistan… and Lucy's past."
"Arasaka wants a show?" I looked around the room. "Then we'll give them one—but not the kind they're expecting."
End of chapter.
"I'm not going to make you all wait for the next chapter—it'll be out today! I really appreciate your patience and support, so I hope you enjoy what's coming."
