As the full force of the Red Moon soaked Valiah Hundra in its unholy glow, the earth beneath her invaders started to tremble. A groan erupted from beneath the stretch of land between the breached barrier and the Red Moon fortress gates. The sound was ancient and raw, like the land itself weeping. The wolves, mid-charge, began to falter as the ground continued to tremble... and then broke.
With a thunderous crack, what was to be the battlefield split in two. The earth gaped wide, an immense canyon yawning open like a freshly torn wound. A fiery glow pulsed from its depths, revealing roiling lava far below. Heat surged upward, curling the edges of grass and fur as it seared the air. Wolves scrambled back, some teetering on the crumbling edge. A few were not so lucky as they fell into the heat, one by one.
