Chapter 119 - Chapter 27 [Volume 2]

[T/N: This is being actively posted on 04/07/2025, so you know it ain't auto-posted, I am back, I'm used to my new position after my promotion, so I have time to do this again. The moment you guys hit 20 powerstones, I'll post a bonus chapter.]

Bran looked closely at the monitor in the white room. He had reached level 6 with two skill points. He could have raised the level of water magic, but he preferred to wait until he got wind magic to level 3. The boy sighed and left the room.

He appeared in the sky over the true North. He had been facing wildlings, white walkers, and other beasts, he was so tired.

Summer, Shaggydog, Meera, Rickon, Jojen, Hodor, and Osha were waiting for him.

He was in charge of scouting for dangers. Unfortunately, it was difficult to fly in the forest where they camped.

Bran turned and saw something approaching.

He moved closer but kept his distance. He saw a strange being, made of ice, with eight legs covered in ice.

"An ice spider," he muttered, remembering old nanny's stories.

It was at least two meters long.

"We better leave," the boy muttered, then he felt something grabbing him.

"What?" he muttered.

He looked down and saw his foot tangled in some kind of white wire.

Bran gasped as he was thrown from the sky toward the ground.

He fell, hitting his back against the snow, and was grateful for that, if it had been ice, he would have died or been paralyzed.

Then he gasped again, looking at his foot still tangled in the cable.

Bran gasped as he was pushed by something. The cable was caught on something, and he looked in horror at the giant spider.

Spider web, not wire.

Bran cursed and pulled out his blade, striking the web that seemed made of ice. Finally, it came loose. The giant spider jumped at him, but Bran evaded it.

"Damn," the boy muttered.

He quickly ran and cast fly, but the spider caught his foot again in its icy web.

Bran fell again, this time against a tree.

The arachnid jumped at him once more. Bran dodged, but his shoulder was grazed.

The boy gasped in pain.

"I need to hide," he whispered.

He raised his hand, and a ship appeared between him and the web. Bran didn't hesitate and went inside. He could hear the spider climbing the ship and hid in one of its dressing rooms.

The boy sighed. The ship was big enough that it would take the monster some time to find him. He just had to wait a little and recover, then figure out how to escape.

"Bran, what happened!? Why did you summon a ship!?" he heard a voice outside.

"Meera," he whispered in horror.

He cursed and walked out of the dressing room, only to hear a scream.

Bran stepped out of the ship and saw Meera, spear in hand, barely protecting herself from the ice spider's attacks.

Bran cursed.

"Electric skin," he said loud and clear.

And he jumped to help Meera.

His raised sword hit the spider, which was absentmindedly attacking his friend. It let out a shriek when it felt the blade, and Bran took the chance to punch it, sending an electric current through it.

The creature stepped aside in pain. Meera took the opportunity to run, and Bran followed her.

"Can't you just fly us away?" she asked as they ran.

"I have electric skin. You'd get roasted if you touched me. And even if I could, the spider shoots threads like…" he began.

But he was interrupted by Meera's scream. The spider threw its web and caught her foot, dragging her toward it.

"Those…" Bran finished, rushing to help her.

With a quick swing of his sword, he cut the icy web from Meera's foot. The spider was just a few meters away.

"I'm afraid escape won't be possible," he said.

"Okay, one on each side," she said.

He nodded.

The spider attacked Bran. Meera stepped aside as he pulled her back.

She stabbed a hind leg with her spear. The spider turned around, and Bran attacked again.

It spun, and Meera attacked.

Getting tired, it lunged at Bran, who dodged.

"Meera, I'll summon another ship as a distraction," Bran said.

She nodded.

The ships took a lot of mana, but there was no choice.

Bran raised his hand. The spider almost crashed into the ship, but it jumped over it. Bran paled as he saw that, by being on the ship, the spider could leap toward them.

And that's exactly what it did.

"Bran, run!" Meera told him.

The spider charged at him, and the boy flew away, but it launched a new web. Bran watched in horror as it came closer and closer, until a spear pierced it.

Bran arrived back at the white room.

"What the hell happened?" he muttered as he approached the monitor and saw that he had leveled up.

[T/N: no, poor meera]

The boy nodded and walked out of the room, spotting the dead spider and Meera on the ship, taking aim with the large crossbow, one of the ship's weapons.

[T/N: THANK F*CK! I thought she sacrificed herself.]

"How did that not occur to me before?" Bran muttered.

Meera smiled as she approached him.

"You're not that bright," she teased.

Bran smiled back.

It was maybe the first time he saw her like this. Though she wasn't his brother's guard, he noticed she was very attractive, at least in his opinion.

Meera stared at him too. The excitement of the moment left them both exhausted but satisfied. She smiled and approached him slowly, Bran did the same.

A scream pierced the air.

They both jumped and turned toward the forest.

[T/N: DAMMIT! C*CKBLOCK!]

"Rickon," he whispered.

"Jojen," she said.

They looked at each other and ran through the forest.

Meanwhile, the others were waiting for Bran. When the wolves stood up and growled, Rickon saw a pack of wraiths arrive. The boy took out his knife and prepared for them.

He watched the wolves jump on the ghosts. Osha the wildling attacked left and right with her spear, while Jojen shot arrows.

"Vital point," he whispered.

The boy's eyes lit up as small lights appeared on various parts of the specters' bodies.

He attacked one, which fell immediately. Another caught his foot, but he saw Peludo launch himself at it.

Hodor was surrounded and under attack.

Jojen fired arrows at everything he could.

Then an explosion shook the area, no, he didn't just hear it, he saw it: a wraith exploded from Bran's electric skin.

Bran and Meera arrived and joined the fight.

"It's about time!" Jojen reproached them.

"We had a problem with an ice spider," Bran explained as he attacked another wraith.

"Inconvenience with an ice spider, that's what they call it now," Osha said. Bran didn't understand what the wildling meant, but Meera blushed.

Rickon smiled calmly but saw a dozen specters approaching. He killed another one and then found himself back in the white room. He left it and attacked the nearest specter. A couple were still left, but they were tired, they had to flee.

Suddenly, explosions erupted all around them. They didn't see how the ghosts began to explode, as if someone had set them on fire.

Rickon was the first to see the figure.

A hooded man rode a moose.

His weapon was an iron ball that seemed to have burning oil inside. When it hit the ghosts, they were incinerated.

The man struck one after another, reducing them to nothing in minutes.

"Who are you?!" Bran asked, watching the man stop.

The man took off his hood.

"Uncle Benjen."

Ned waited for everyone to arrive.

It was time for his inner circle to learn the truth.

There was no doubt it was something they needed to know.

Especially his family.

Even he was surprised by Jon's news about Essos.

Their war, the rewards, and new men who had joined Valyria.

Especially the Targaryens.

His men had to know.

He needed their advice more than anything.

And he couldn't keep it quiet any longer.

Ned sat in a chair at the table, next to Catelyn, who had Robb at her side with his wife, Howland Reed, Maege Mormont, Jon the Great Umber, and Wyman Manderly.

"I have gathered you here because you are the only ones in the North who have my complete trust," Ned Stark said solemnly.

"It's time for you to find out the truth."

The others remained silent.

"Weeks before Robert arrived at Winterfell, my son Jon Snow spoke to me about some changes he had undergone," he began.

He explained Jon's reasons for leaving, his magic, and his mission.

The others listened without commenting.

Jon's arrival in Essos, his escape from King's Landing, the magic bestowed upon them by the Old Gods, the discovery of Valyria and its conquest, and Jon's news of Volantis.

"He would have been more useful here," Robb said, annoyed Jon hadn't told him.

"So, Volantis and Valyria are part of the North now?" Wyman asked.

"Not exactly. Jon's mission was to improve Valyria so that, in the worst case, the northern houses would have a place if we lost the war. But it wasn't the Starks who took control of Valyria and Volantis… It was Jon Snow, and as such, he is the king," Ned explained.

"Hehehe, so the Starks are royalty," Jon Umber said amused.

Ned smiled. He didn't seem to care much.

"I notice you're quiet, Howland. Any concerns?" Ned asked.

The others turned to see Reed, who seemed impartial.

"A good idea, Valyria. I don't really know how they did it… But Volantis is a problem," he said.

Eddard nodded.

"Yes, unlike Valyria, Volantis is a known city, not hidden. They'll be at the mercy of the slave and free cities," said the Guardian of the North.

"And the Lannisters. Tywin must have spies in all the free cities," Wyman added.

Ned nodded.

"Correct, but he knows well that, although something else happened in the conquest of Volantis, Jon found certain people of interest," he said.

The others listened and gasped.

"I can't believe it, the children are alive! Oh, thank the Old Gods! I've had terrible nightmares since I saw the bodies at King's Landing… when the Mountain… when Tywin, Robert forgave them. I didn't… Not even myself for not stopping them," Howland muttered.

Ned nodded.

"Me neither," he whispered.

Great Jon spat.

"Killing children, raping women… that's the only thing those blonds can do," cursed the Umber.

"But what does it mean? Will you support Aegon Targaryen in taking back the Seven Kingdoms? Even though he's not guilty of the death of my grandfather and uncle, is he still the grandson of the Mad King?" Robb asked.

The others looked at him.

"The Great Wolf has a point," Maege said.

Ned raised an eyebrow.

Robb blushed at the nickname.

"I don't know. From what Jon told me, Aegon is a good boy, and he has a sister, who, if you ask my opinion, has delighted my son," Ned said, though he seemed somewhat uncomfortable for some strange reason.

"HA! Good for him," exclaimed Great Jon.

Robb smiled.

"I've never seen a woman capable of charming Jon," the boy said.

Catelyn remained impartial.

"We can't follow a king we don't know. Aegon may be a good boy, but that doesn't make him a good king," Howland said.

The others nodded.

"This information is secret. No one outside this room will know it. We will support Aegon Targaryen, or we will not. We will decide after meeting him or seeing what he has to offer as king. However, Aegon and his sister are citizens of Valyria by decree of Jon, and Valyria is allied to the North by blood. As such, their protection is guaranteed," Ned clarified.

The others nodded.

Jon looked at Sansa and Arya as they stared at him in his office in Volantis.

"I've contacted Father," he said to the girls.

They tensed up at the news.

"I assume this isn't good?" Sansa whispered.

Jon explained.

"HE'S DEAD!" Arya exploded.

Sansa started crying non-stop.

Jon hugged her and Arya.

The girl wanted Theon dead, there was no doubt about that. He wanted the same, but he couldn't afford to lose control.

"I'm going to Westeros," she whispered.

Jon said nothing.

"I understand. Father asked me to do my best to make you stay, but it's your decision. I only ask that you let me help," he said.

"What?" she asked, confused.

"Don't teleport. Take one of my ships and bring an army with you," he said.

"It would be faster…" she began.

But Jon covered her mouth.

"A war isn't easy to win, Arya. Even with magic. Volantis was unprotected; it was easy because of that, they didn't see us coming. But the Lannisters, Theon will. You need strong men by your side," he said.

The girl remained silent.

"When?" she asked.

"In a few days. They're already preparing and filling the ships with provisions. You'll go to the West as you wish, but with five thousand men," he promised.

Sansa looked at them.

"I'll stay. My medical skills are needed here, and they have Talisa. She's an excellent healer. Plus, I must help organize Volantis and Valyria," she said.

Jon smiled at her.

"Thanks. I couldn't do it without you," he told her.

Sansa smiled back, though the sadness never left her face.

Jon watched the ships sail away from Volantis. His sister was on board, leaving for the Seven Kingdoms in hopes of getting revenge.

The ships carried five thousand men to aid the North, including tracker soldiers and shipwrights, along with some villagers to help improve the North's resources.

"It'll be okay," Sansa said from beside him.

"I know. No one will stop our wolf," he replied.

'Besides, the trackers have a special mission,' he thought, remembering his orders.
