Chapter 1 - Beginning

Within a infinite expanse of nothing lies a figure. It cannot be called a living being, for it has no pulse, no form to shape it, without thought and soul. Only in a state of being, and nothing else. It has been here, and will remain here, for eternity.

Time passes, days, years, decades, centuries. Yet nothing changes. How could something change, in a void so empty? Yet, even with nothing, something can be formed.

For the first time, the being thinks. Not as a word, but as a feeling, a feeling of boredom. Endlessly waiting for something that will never occur.

Yet, the being is still empty, a formless husk, without a soul to drive it. It intrinsically knows that it will not change, nor advance any further without a soul. To drive it, to give it life once more. The being began to feel a new emotion. One of yearning. To be whole, to be free from this state of stagnation. To no longer endlessly wait, but to act. And within this void, it's intent is answered.

An orb of light, so faint that it seems almost a trick of light appears in front of the figure. It flickers in and out of existence, and wanes with each passing moment. It moves oh so closer to the figure, before stopping, as if waiting for it to act.

For the first time in it's existence, the being chooses to act, moved by it's desire. It moves forward, ever so slowly, until it envelops the light, snuffing it out.

Nothing occurs, the void returns to as it was, stagnant, and lightless.

A dim light begins to emanate from the being itself, slowly growing stronger with each passing moment. Before becoming something greater, it feels one final emotion, contentment. To be able to be free from this place, and witness the expanse it has been blind to all this time.

The light continues to grow, increasing in magnitude until it completely envelops the infinite expanse that was once filled with nothing, but now overflowing with light.

The figure evolves, with the catalyst of a soul fueling it. It can be called a figure no longer, for it has thought and soul. It has become an image, waiting to be changed.

It forms eyes, for it desires to see what lies outside of this world. It forms ears, to hear, an organ, to smell. A heart to give it life, and a mind to bestow upon it sentience. A body, to feel.

And as it wishes to escape the now light filled expanse, it disappears from it at once.
