The next morning, Xia Lu walked into the company with an air of confidence, her heels clicking at the height of eight centimeters.
"Don't be afraid, this is your territory," she encouraged herself, "As long as you issue an order, everyone out there has to listen to you." After giving herself a three-minute pep talk, she finally stood up and walked resolutely toward the secretary's desk outside her office.
"Notify the heads of each department to meet in the conference room in ten minutes," she ordered in a steady voice.
The secretary looked up at her, startled. "Ah?" Then she glanced at the clock before adding, "I'm afraid that won't do, General Manager Xia. We have our regular meeting in half an hour; everyone might not be able to make it."
What a joke, she thought, the boss calls a meeting and there's talk of refusal? Isn't it the secretary's job to sort out such coordination issues? Irritation began to bubble inside Xia Lu.
