Although Dumbledore hadn't truly reached the level of a god creating matter, he could influence the transformation and motion of material with his will alone.
Before this, Wade had only known one type of person capable of doing something similar—
A child experiencing magical outbursts.
For instance, Harry, as described in the original story, once inflated Aunt Marge like a balloon purely out of anger, despite not holding a wand. In his normal state, such a feat would have been impossible for him.
But magical outbursts are purely accidental. As a wizard's mind matures and their understanding of the world becomes more complete, they lose the ability to change the material world through sheer emotion and thought.
Instead, they must rely on fixed spells and gestures, and master magic through repeated practice and familiarity.
This is how almost all wizards operate.
Dumbledore, however, was the sole exception Wade had ever encountered.
To this day, when he closes his eyes, Wade can still vividly recall the awe-inspiring, magnificent, and beautiful sight.
In his vision, Dumbledore seemed to radiate light and countless golden threads and rings filled the once-empty and dark Chamber of Secrets.
Rubble and stones hovered gently in the air. The basilisk disassembled, and every drop of blood flew according to Dumbledore's will. The material world and magical energy wove together into intricate patterns, like a star bridge shuttling through the air.
Wade had always thought that he had made significant strides along the path of magic, far surpassing all other students at Hogwarts.
But now, he realized that he was merely a baby taking his first steps.
Far ahead of him, there was another person—a towering figure in the distance.
…
The tale of the Chamber of Secrets challenge and the thousand-year-old basilisk naturally became the hottest topic at Hogwarts in the following days.
Every participating student eagerly recounted the story over and over again, from different angles and in various ways, until everyone else grew tired of hearing it.
Harry and Neville, who had struck the final blows, were hailed as heroes by most of the students. The Gryffindors, led by the Weasley twins, even composed a cheeky song in their honor:
"From the dark abyss, the basilisk roars.
Venomous fangs flash, its eyes are no more....
He—
The fearless warrior Longbottom,
Charged bravely with a sword in hand.
He—
The Savior Potter battled life and death,
Leaping bravely with an unstoppable force..."
The Gryffindors weren't satisfied with singing this in their common room for an entire night.
Early the next morning, they carried Harry and Neville through the halls in a celebratory parade. From the Gryffindor Tower to the Great Hall, their catchy song echoed endlessly.
Before long, even students from other houses were singing it.
Neville, who was receiving this kind of attention for the first time—and not as criticism or ridicule—was initially overwhelmed, so much so that he nearly wanted to jump off the tower out of sheer embarrassment.
However, by the end of the morning, he had gotten used to it and was even singing along with everyone else.
The story of the basilisk soon spread beyond the school. Letters of protest flooded into Hogwarts, delivered by owls like a torrential rain. Many accused the professors of recklessly endangering the students.
But once the parents learned that no one had been seriously injured—Pomfrey could heal even broken bones in the blink of an eye, treating them like nothing more than a paper cut—the complaints vanished.
In their place, a new wave of speculation arose: Just how powerful are Hogwarts students?
The discussions hinted at Dumbledore orchestrating something grand and secretive.
Dumbledore, however, ignored all the outside chatter.
He didn't have Harry seal the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets again; instead, he left it open and even permitted younger students to visit.
The long, damp, and foul-smelling tunnels retained their original atmosphere, though after hundreds of slides by students, they were now cleaner than floors polished by house-elves.
The shattered stone walls, cracked pillars, cratered floors, and Salazar Slytherin's massive statue all remained untouched with some spots still bearing traces of blood.
However, visitors no longer had the chance to collect scales from the site. A few days later, parts of the rubble mysteriously disappeared, and even small animal bones from the surrounding corridors became scarce.
Although the basilisk's corpse had been stored away in the professors' private collections, Dumbledore left the basilisk's shed skin in the chamber for the time being.
It startled every young wizard who ventured in and inspired them to imagine the dangerous and intense battles faced by the challengers.
Colin Creevey and Rolf Scamander became the most sought-after students in school, as everyone wanted to take a photo in front of the shed skin, and they had the cameras to make it happen.
Half a day later, even Wade's camera had been borrowed by Michael Corner.
Michael led a group of girls, including the Patil sisters, toward the Chamber of Secrets. Along the way, they bumped into Professor Snape.
The group froze, and barely dared to breathe. To their surprise, Professor Snape said nothing and merely walked past them.
Recently, Snape had been in an unusually good mood thanks to acquiring most of the basilisk's remains.
His thoughts were entirely consumed by how to use the materials and which potions he could brew, leaving him no time to bother with whatever mischief the school's "little monsters" were up to this time.
Apart from Professor Snape, Moaning Myrtle was experiencing unprecedented happiness.
The ghost, who had spent years sobbing in the bathroom, had never seen so many students wandering around her territory.
Though she complained that her home had turned into a tourist attraction, she was delighted to hover near the students and chat with them.
When they entered the Chamber of Secrets, she would suddenly emerge from walls or even the shed basilisk skin, startling everyone.
She was beginning to feel like a second Peeves.
Before long, photos of the basilisk's shed skin appeared in The Daily Prophet, sparking another round of public excitement.
Taking advantage of the buzz, Marchionne released a series of snake-shaped magic pets, which quickly sold out.
Soon, it was time for the end-of-term feast. Before the meal, Dumbledore announced the additional house points awarded to students for their performance in the Chamber of Secrets challenge.
As expected, Gryffindor won the House Cup once again, with the other three houses scoring closely behind.
This time, even Slytherin had little objection. When cheers erupted in the Great Hall, a small group of Slytherins politely clapped along.
"From the Dark abyss, the basilisk roars,
Venomous fangs flash, its eyes are no more..."
The Gryffindors thumped their tables and sang loudly. Dumbledore, smiling brightly, conducted their singing, while students from Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw joined the chorus.
Goyle, seated at the Slytherin table, unconsciously began singing, "From the Dark abyss, the basilisk roars..."
Hearing him, Malfoy shot him a fierce glare and barked, "Shut up!"
Startled, Goyle immediately stopped singing.
Although Crabbe was no longer in danger, he was still recovering at St. Mungo's and hadn't been discharged.
Goyle now felt somewhat afraid of Malfoy.
