Chapter 300 - Chapter 300: The Curtain Rises

After reading the script, Halle Berry agreed to star without much hesitation.

With the main cast confirmed, Ethan's film boasted an exceptionally strong lineup. Just the names alone were enough to draw in large crowds of moviegoers.

The film's production budget was finally set at $160 million. In addition to the high cost of hiring top-tier actors, there were also significant expenses for set construction, explosions, and filming across multiple countries.

A crime film requiring such a huge budget was unexpected, but Ethan had already made his decision, leaving no room for doubt.

With the production confirmed, the next step was preparation.

However, Ethan didn't focus on this project. Instead, he delegated everything to the producers, as his primary concern at the moment was Lucy:Final Curtain War.

The film was about to be released in theaters worldwide, with a simultaneous global premiere.

This was a major event, and to build excitement, Norton's Eye launched various sweepstakes and promotional activities.

Advertisements for Lucy:Final Curtain War covered public squares, subway stations, digital billboards, and posters in buildings. Combined with word-of-mouth buzz, almost everyone in the United States knew about the movie.

A week before the premiere, Milon and Judy had already secured two advance tickets, afraid they wouldn't be able to grab any later.

Meanwhile, ticketing websites crashed during the first wave of sales, just like they had before the second film's release.

On the day of the premiere, Milon and Judy drove to the theater early and waited in the lobby. There, they ran into someone they had met at the cinema before.

"Vincenzo!"

"Hey, Milon!" Vincenzo greeted him enthusiastically. While they hadn't met in person since the last movie, they had kept in touch online. Their shared love for Lucy had led Vincenzo to take a deep interest in Ethan's career.

Milon had even taken on the role of a researcher, introducing Vincenzo to Ethan's past works, including the projects he had overseen but not personally directed.

Only then did Vincenzo learn that Ethan had started his career directing music videos—and he had done an incredible job at it.

Vincenzo had even made a video analyzing Ethan's past music videos.

Now, seeing each other again, the two immediately started discussing their theories about the new film.

"I think He is the villain. He sealed Earth off for a reason—probably to use it as a sacrifice," Milon speculated.

Vincent disagreed. "I don't think it's a sacrifice. I think He rules another planet, and Earth is an experiment, something like a 'bottle world.'"

This was the most popular theory. To maintain suspense, the comics hadn't revealed the mystery behind the Curtain yet, so both comic and movie fans were eager to find out the truth.

And since the film was premiering before the comics revealed the answer, many comic fans had no choice but to buy tickets to satisfy their curiosity.

As they continued discussing, the clock neared midnight.

"Theater 6 is now open for ticket holders."

At the announcement, everyone lined up in an orderly fashion and entered the auditorium.

Milon finally settled into the plush theater seat, his anticipation reaching its peak.

It was only now, sitting here, that he truly felt the excitement of watching Lucy:Final Curtain War.

"Let's see just how amazing this film is."

Soon, the lights dimmed, and the logo animation for Norton's Eye appeared on the screen.

After the studio logos faded, Earth appeared on the screen, accompanied by Professor Norman's narration.

"Long before 99% of Earth's surface was covered in ocean, the Curtain had already appeared."

"Based on our research and the artifacts Lucy brought back, we have determined that the Curtain emerged simultaneously in different locations across the planet. Though we don't yet understand the mechanism behind its formation, it is clear that an external force—likely the one you call Him—was responsible."

"The Curtain's function is to isolate Earth from the universe. Additionally, it seems to possess spatial properties, containing an expansive pocket universe within itself. This explains why human space missions have never found alien civilizations."

"To destroy the Curtain completely, we need a special method," Professor Norman continued, looking at the group. "After analyzing the soil samples Lucy provided, we have identified its weakness. The key lies in a substance you're all familiar with."

"CPH4?" Victor guessed immediately.

"The exact opposite," Norman corrected. "We've extracted a substance from CPH4 that counteracts its effects entirely. I've named it 4HPC. This compound eradicates all active elements in the soil."

"You have a way with names," Peel remarked before asking, "So where exactly are these Curtain anchors located?"

"New York, Chongqing, Iceland…" Lucy listed the locations she had already identified.

The group then decided to split up, each heading to different locations to use 4HPC and dismantle the Curtain, revealing the true galaxy beyond.

Meanwhile, Arasaka Corporation was not idle. They had struck a deal with Military Tech, offering superpower-enhancing drugs in exchange for an alliance.

Arasaka had been relentlessly hunting down the Lucy's team—not just because they had destroyed the lab and killed Adam "Heavy Hammer," but because they had uncovered Lucy's true identity.

They were deeply interested in Lucy's abilities and wanted to capture her for experimentation.

Now that they had Military Tech's support, they launched a full-scale manhunt for the Lucy's team.

During this time, the film revealed another key detail: Lucy was the link that allowed Reese and the others to exist in the present timeline. If something happened to her, their abilities and even their existence would be affected.

Because of this, protecting Lucy's true form—the black humanoid supercomputer—became their top priority.

Anticipating this threat, Lucy had hidden the supercomputer deep underground in a secret location.

However, when the team set out for their destinations, Arasaka intercepted them, triggering an intense battle.

The entire airport became a war zone, surrounded by Arasaka's firepower. Soldiers, aircraft, and armored vehicles swarmed in, drawing the attention of the federal government.

The battle ended in a brutal stalemate. Reese was seriously injured and had to remain at Professor Norman's base.

To avoid being tracked by Arasaka, the others split up and set off for different cities where the Curtain's anchors were located.
