"Uh..." Xie Shuyu paused for a moment, her steps unconsciously quickened as she reached out to take the phone her mother handed over and glanced at it.
Mrs. Xie explained, "I didn't pick up the first time he called, but then he called again. I was afraid it might be urgent, so I answered."
"I got it, Mom. I'll go return the call." Xie Shuyu said, and once again stepped out of the banquet area.
"Beep beep—" The phone rang twice before it was connected.
"Hello, are you coming to River View Courtyard? When?"
"Soon, I should be there in about 3 minutes. Are you free now? I'd like to talk to you about the investment in Glimmer Coffee. If you're busy, we can meet tomorrow."
Xie Shuyu was silent for a moment and then said quietly, "I'm available. I'll meet you downstairs at the east gate of River View Courtyard."
"Okay, see you soon then."
"Bye-bye."
After hanging up, Xie Shuyu looked at her own reflection in the floor-to-ceiling window, feeling a sudden surge of joy.
