Following Elder Huan Yin, Mo Yu smoothly passed through the heavily guarded outer perimeter of the grand hall. With a light push, the doors creaked open.
As the doors swung wide, a grand and majestic hall came into Mo Yu's view. Elder Huan Yin quickly advanced into the hall, bowing toward the person seated at the head position. "Valley Master, Huan Yin reports back. The master weapon refiner recommended by Tian Huang City has arrived."
Inside the hall sat about ten individuals. Most wore robes indicative of weapon refiners, their expressions calm and unruffled, showing no sign of unease despite being in the headquarters of Sound Valley.
At the head of the hall sat a mature woman with a cold yet stunningly beautiful face. Her features were exquisitely delicate, and her figure was nothing short of mesmerizing—slim, curvaceous, and elegant even in her stillness.
Her striking beauty didn't tempt the people present, however, as they were all acutely aware of her significant standing within the Central Region.
Beside her stood a young woman dressed in a colorful robe. The girl had a tall and graceful figure, her demeanor fresh and refined. Her long, waterfall-like black hair cascaded down to her slender waist, while her bright, deep eyes held a mesmerizing quality.
Most captivating of all was her skin—a snowy, crystalline white that exuded an otherworldly purity, as though she truly embodied the phrase "flawless jade bones."
As the sound of the doors opening reached them, everyone turned their gaze toward the entrance. When Elder Huan Yin mentioned the arrival of another weapon refiner, the interest in the room noticeably increased.
"Huan Yin, you're the last to return this time," the woman at the head of the hall said in a calm voice as soothing as a mountain spring. "Aren't you going to invite the master in? Or are you trying to make others think that Sound Valley is inhospitable?"
Hearing her words, Elder Huan Yin hastily nodded and turned toward the door. "Mo Yu, please come in."
"Mo Yu?"
The mention of his name caused a visible change in expression among the ten or so weapon refiners present. They seemed to recall something, and shock flickered across their faces.
As the story of the Refining Convention gradually spread across Central Plains, the name "Mo Yu" had caused a tremendous sensation among weapon refiners. In the Western Region, his name had even reached a level of widespread recognition.
Amidst their astonishment, a slender figure walked steadily into the hall. A youthful, handsome face came into view, drawing collective gasps of surprise from those present.
Among the weapon refiners, many had personally attended the Refining Convention and recognized him immediately. Mo Yu's performance during the convention—refining an eighth-grade weapon that summoned three-colored weapon lightning—was nothing short of legendary. His unparalleled talent had left an indelible mark on the audience's hearts.
More impressively, Mo Yu had won the championship by defeating Qiu Yuanqiao and wresting the title from a representative of the Pill Tower, an achievement that had elevated the reputation of all weapon refiners.
As a result, the moment Mo Yu appeared, the group of highly esteemed weapon refiners stood up in unison, their expressions tinged with respect. Though they were senior figures within the Central Region, none dared to put on airs in front of a prodigy of such caliber.
"Greetings, Valley Master," Mo Yu said, nodding slightly.
He raised an eyebrow at the weapon refiner' reverent expressions but paid them little mind. Instead, his gaze moved to the cold, mature woman at the head of the hall.
Upon entering, he immediately felt a faint oppressive aura emanating from her. It was clear that the source of this pressure was the stunningly beautiful woman before him.
Mo Yu silently speculated that this woman was likely Su Yao, the Valley Master of Sound Valley, who had some connection to She Lao.
Su Yao's expression shifted slightly as she observed Mo Yu. The sight of those weapon refiners, who had always maintained their composure, now rising to greet him caught her attention. She was surprised but concealed it well, her discerning eyes calmly scanning Mo Yu.
As she scrutinized him, Su Yao couldn't help but notice a faintly familiar aura emanating from him. This feeling stirred something deep within her, like a calm lake surface rippling under a gentle breeze—a sensation that lingered long after.
However, Su Yao remained composed, her expression revealing nothing. Her gaze swept over Mo Yu before a faint smile appeared. "Sir Mo Yu, you are too modest. For someone so young to have reached the Dou Zong level, such talent is truly rare."
Her words didn't surprise the other weapon refiners. At the Refining Convention, it wasn't just Mo Yu's ability to refine eighth-grade weapons that had shocked the world. His strength as a two-star Dou Zong, and his ability to slay the peak Dou Zong expert Qing Jian, was equally unforgettable.
Meanwhile, the young woman standing beside Su Yao, the colorful-robed maiden, stared at Mo Yu with an inquisitive look, her expression faintly tinged with doubt.
As Sound Valley's saintess and most exceptional younger generation member, she knew all too well how challenging it was to reach the Dou Zong level at such a young age. Yet, Mo Yu seemed to be even younger than she was.
"Valley Master Su, you flatter me," Mo Yu replied, his expression unchanging. Internally, however, he evaluated Su Yao's strength.
"To conceal her aura so perfectly... Su Yao's power far surpasses that of Ten Thousand Sword Pavilion's Jian Zun ZHe," he mused, recalling She Lao. Though uncertain about She Lao's exact strength, Mo Yu felt sure that at his peak, She Lao had been no ordinary Dou Zun.
This thought deepened Mo Yu's resolve to revive She Lao. For the Yuan Manor to truly establish itself in Central Plains, they needed another powerful figure besides himself to hold the fort. She Lao fit that role perfectly.
"Sir Mo Yu, please take a seat," Su Yao said with a gentle smile.
Mo Yu nodded with a faint smile and, under Elder Huan Yin's guidance, chose a seat in the hall.
As Mo Yu settled in, the weapon refiners exchanged glances before returning to their seats, though they seemed noticeably more reserved than before.
Observing this, Su Yao and even the colorful-robed maiden beside her noticed something unusual. Ever since Mo Yu had entered, these previously composed and confident weapon refiners seemed almost subdued, as though the truly distinguished figure among them wasn't themselves but the young man before them.
Frowning slightly, Su Yao felt a surge of curiosity. Sound Valley had always kept to itself, largely ignoring the outside world's affairs. Thus, she couldn't fathom what extraordinary achievements this youthful Mo Yu had accomplished to command such respect.
Still, as the leader of one of the Three Valleys, Su Yao was no ordinary individual. She suppressed her curiosity and gracefully addressed the group. "Now that everyone is here, allow me to explain the matter at hand."
With a light cough, Su Yao's gaze swept over the hall. Her eyes lingered on Mo Yu for a few extra seconds before she continued speaking.
"Presumably, everyone here has heard some rumors. One of our treasured artifacts in the Sound Valley was damaged due to certain circumstances. This item is of immense importance to our Sound Valley, so we are seeking a capable weapon refiner to repair it," Su Yao said softly.
As her voice faded, Su Yao gently clasped her jade-like hands together. A melodious sound akin to a water droplet resonated in the air, and a magical zither exuding powerful energy fluctuations appeared.
The magical zither boasted unique curves and intricate black patterns, which outlined a mysterious and exquisite appearance. Its surface was slender and polished, reflecting light like a mirror. The strings, entwined and bound together, resembled the floating pagoda of a demonic light—half shrouded in darkness, half in divine purity.
What shocked everyone the most was the miniature figure floating above the zither. This figure, resembling a Buddha, slowly emerged while radiating immense spiritual power.
"A weapon spirit? This is an eighth-grade weapon?"
Mo Yu raised his brow slightly as he stared at the Buddha-like spirit. The manifestation of a weapon spirit was the hallmark of an eighth-grade weapon, much like the black dragon spirit of his Divine Might Black Thunder Spear.
However, the spiritual aura of this Buddha-like figure appeared noticeably weak, as though it had suffered severe damage.
"This zither is the sacred artifact of our Sound Valley, the Heavenly Demon Pagoda Zither. It has been passed down since the first generation Valley Master and is ranked as an eighth-grade weapon.
However, due to some unforeseen events, the zither sustained certain damage. Therefore, we seek a master who can repair it. Sound Valley will certainly provide a generous reward," Su Yao explained as her slender fingers gently glided across the zither's body.
A trace of regret flashed in her beautiful eyes before she looked at the gathered weapon refiners in the hall with a faint smile.
Upon hearing this, many weapon refiners in the hall twitched visibly.
Repairing an eighth-grade weapon? That was no simple task. In fact, many of them had never even touched an eighth-grade weapon before.
Though they had long heard of the existence of a supreme weapon within Sound Valley, none of them expected it to be an eighth-grade weapon.
But upon seeing the weapon spirit hovering above the magical zither, there was no longer any doubt in their minds.
The presence of a weapon spirit was definitive proof of an eighth-grade weapon.
At that moment, the gray-haired elder leading the dozen or so weapon refiners in the hall hesitated. He looked at Su Yao and smiled bitterly. "Valley Master Su, your Sound Valley's Heavenly Demon Pagoda Zither is an eighth-grade weapon. Even repairing it is beyond the capabilities of us seventh-grade weapon refiners.
An eighth-grade weapon involves a weapon spirit, representing a qualitative leap over lower-grade weapons. Thus, no one below the eighth-grade level can guarantee success."
Hearing this, Su Yao frowned slightly. She had initially believed that, although the Heavenly Demon Pagoda Zither was an eighth-grade weapon, a seventh-grade weapon refiner should be capable of handling a mere repair. However, judging from the gray-haired elder's words, it seemed she had underestimated the complexity of the task.
This realization caused Su Yao's expression to darken.
Eighth-grade weapon refiners were truly among the pinnacle of craftsmen on the continent. Even with the influence of Sound Valley, finding one was no easy feat.
"Valley Master Su, why worry? Isn't there already an eighth-grade weapon refiner present in this very hall?" The gray-haired elder suddenly spoke again as he noticed Su Yao's knitted brows.
"What? Sound Valley managed to invite an eighth-grade weapon refiner?"
Hearing this, Su Yao was momentarily stunned. A gleam of hope flickered in her beautiful eyes as she scanned the hall, attempting to identify this mysterious eighth-grade weapon refiner.
However, to her disappointment, after examining the dozen or so weapon refiners present, none of them appeared to have the demeanor or capability of an eighth-grade weapon refiner.
At this moment, the elder known as Huan Yin suddenly recalled the overwhelming spiritual power Mo Yu had displayed earlier. Could it be…?
"Master Bei Mingzi, all those present here are renowned weapon refiners of the Central Region. If any of them had advanced to the eighth-grade level, even in our secluded Sound Valley, we would have heard of it. Your claim seems somewhat reckless," Su Yao said coolly, her tone laced with displeasure.
Anyone would feel vexed after being toyed with, and Su Yao was no exception. If not for the elder's reputation as a senior weapon refiner on par with the titans of the Weapon Alliance, she might have already had him escorted out.
The gray-haired elder froze for a moment at Su Yao's remark, then let out a helpless chuckle. "It seems Valley Master Su is unaware of some recent developments within the weapon refining world and the Central Plains.
Allow me to introduce you to a newly risen prodigy among us—a master weapon refiner who has recently achieved the eighth grade."
As his voice trailed off, the gray-haired elder slowly stood up and walked in a certain direction.
Su Yao's eyes flickered with astonishment. Could it be that she had wronged this elder? Had Sound Valley indeed managed to invite an eighth-grade weapon refiner by sheer luck?
Beside her, the colorful-clad young woman cast a skeptical glance at the gathered weapon refiners below. Her delicate face showed doubt.
An eighth-grade weapon refiner stood among the peak of the Dou Qi Continent. Their status was comparable to that of her mentor, the Valley Master of Sound Valley. Yet, none of these people seemed to fit the profile of such a master.
As her gaze roamed, it eventually landed on a relatively secluded corner of the hall. There, she spotted Mo Yu, calmly sipping tea with a tranquil expression.
She paused momentarily.
This guy looked remarkably composed, but an eighth-grade weapon refiner? Even if they weren't an elderly sage, they would at least be a middle-aged veteran. How could it possibly be someone as young as him?
While the young woman entertained such thoughts, the gray-haired elder continued his unhurried steps, bypassing the gathered weapon refiners. To everyone's surprise, he finally stopped at an unexpected corner of the hall.
Looking at the youth with a serene countenance seated there, the elder's face softened into a respectful smile. Under the stunned gazes of Su Yao and the others, he introduced the young man.
"Valley Master Su, allow me to formally present to you the champion of this year's Refining Convention and an eighth-grade weapon refiner grandmaster—Master Mo Yu."
