Chapter 296 - Chapter 296: Welcome Back

The war spirit's missiles exploded, and the heat instantly melted the flying shards of glass. Dust rose like a wave as buildings collapsed.

In just a blink, Ginza's shopping plaza was reduced to rubble.

That large bronze figure landed, a sneer tugging at its mouth. "Limitless technique. If Kenjaku's intel is right, you're not the strongest one. You're not Gojo Satoru, are you?"

"Originally, Gojo Satoru was the one I was supposed to kill. But who knows where he ran off to now. No matter. I'll just kill you in his place!"

The moment the war curse spirit finished speaking, the pile of rubble burying the black-haired girl started shaking violently.

In the next second, broken stones flew into the air—then froze in place. Surrounded by debris and shattered walls, Yukinoshita Yukino hung her head slightly, staring at the blood-stained stones in front of her. Her half-closed eyes were filled with sadness and guilt.

These people could have escaped.

If she had opened her domain from the beginning and trapped the curse spirit inside, it wouldn't have been able to cause so much destruction to the city.

And these innocent people wouldn't have been caught up in their fight.

It was her own mistake and carelessness that caused these people to die.

Her hand slowly clenched into a fist. The black-haired girl let out a warm breath, which turned into white mist in the cold air.

Then she looked up. Her pretty face was now frosty cold, and her eyes—fixed on the large, bronze-skinned figure—were filled with killing intent.

"Oh? You're mad? Is it because of those bugs I crushed so easily?"

Behind the twisted bone-white mask of War, a wide grin stretched across its face, full of mockery.

It suddenly bent down and rummaged through the rubble under its feet. A moment later, it pulled out a barely breathing man, holding his head between two fingers like he was a baby chick.

"Look, there's still one alive."

War shook the man in its hand. As soon as it finished speaking, it squeezed slightly—and the man's head burst like a smashed watermelon. Blood, flesh, and bits of brain flew in every direction.

The headless body fell limply to the ground like a piece of trash.

With a mocking smile, it looked at Yukinoshita Yukino. Behind the white mask, its red eyes curved like crescent moons.

Then, in War's vision, the black-haired girl's body wavered slightly—then vanished. The floating rubble and shattered walls dropped back to the ground.

The grin on its face disappeared right away, replaced by surprise.

She's faster now!

A sharp, icy chill suddenly crept up behind it.

War spun around, but before it could react, a soft white hand stabbed into its thick neck. It spat out a mouthful of dark purple blood.

Yukinoshita Yukino's right hand had turned into a claw, digging deep into War's neck. Her left hand formed a sign.

A cold voice like the wind on the Siberian tundra echoed in War's ears:

"Domain Expansion: Unlimited Void."

War's eyes shrank in shock. Ignoring the hand buried in its neck, it rushed to form its own hand signs.

But it couldn't. Two massive wolves—one black, one white—had suddenly appeared on either side of it. Their huge jaws clamped down on its arms, pulling them apart with all their strength so it couldn't move.

By the time it broke free from the Divine Dogs, it was already too late.

In sorcery battles, each person's domain reflects their inner world, and each domain has different effects.

But if a technique is recorded by the system, its domain becomes fixed too. That's how Yukinoshita Yukino could use the same domain as Gojo Satoru. Same for Hayashizaki.

And some domains, once they hit, can end a battle right then and there.

Unlimited Void is one of those domains.

The pitch-black barrier closed in around Yukinoshita Yukino and the War curse. Inside it stretched a vast, endless universe—glowing stars, white dots like ink, filling every part of War's vision.

It stared blankly at the sight.

Its mind was flooded with endless knowledge. For a moment, it felt like it understood everything.

But that was the problem. The brain couldn't handle all that information. It couldn't even control its own body anymore. It just… shut down.

After ten seconds inside the Unlimited Void, Yukinoshita Yukino pulled out her right hand, tearing out the crushed windpipe with it. Then the domain faded.

She formed another hand sign.

"Domain Expansion: Demon Kitchen."

The vast universe was replaced by a sea of blood. A terrifying altar made of white bones stood behind Yukinoshita Yukino.

Two kinds of slashes—Shatter and Carve—landed on War's body at the same time. His bronze, muscular frame was hit over and over, sliced apart as if his flesh and bones were being slowly scraped away.

And War, whose mind had already crashed from Unlimited Void, couldn't even feel the pain. His body was cut into pieces, like chunks of raw meat.

The Special Grade curse, War, was exorcised.

The domain faded, and the leftover flesh turned into glowing sparks, drifting through the cold, dry air.

Yukinoshita Yukino was breathing slightly heavily. Using two domains in a row took a lot out of her, even with the Six Eyes.

She turned around, ready to leave the shopping plaza, now reduced to ruins.

"War is dead."

Just as she turned, a low, rough voice suddenly came from behind her.

She spun back quickly and saw a figure completely covered in black appear behind her.

No—calling it a figure wasn't quite right. It looked more like a person-shaped cloud of floating black mist.

One hand, made of that mist, gently held what was left of the war-type cursed spirit's body—still not fully gone. Bits of ash and sparks passed through the gaps in the fog.

That rough, emotionless voice spoke again: "Didn't expect you to die so soon… what a letdown."

Another special grade…

Yukinoshita Yukino looked at the black mist figure seriously. Her whole body tensed, ready to strike at any moment.

But a second later, she suddenly relaxed, her clear eyes slowly widening.

"Huh? That stupid white-haired guy actually lost?" a familiar voice said from behind, followed by relaxed footsteps. "Didn't see that coming. I guess a lot must've happened while I was gone if a cursed spirit could get that strong."

A black-haired young man in a pure white kimono walked up beside the girl.

Hayashizaki turned his head slightly and smiled. "Hey, I'm back."

Yukinoshita Yukino blinked, then a soft and gentle smile bloomed on her face.

"Yeah. Welcome back."
