By the end of their hunt, Max had gained four more external spirit bones in addition to the Eight Spider Lances. A rare haul few in the entire continent could even dream of.
And then, finally, he allowed Tang San to absorb a spirit ring.
It was a 1,200-year-old Datura Snake—a powerful and venomous beast. But just as Tang San began the fusion process, Max once again made his move.
The external spirit bone—Venomous Fangs of the Datura Snake—had not yet fully fused when Max silently extracted it, leaving Tang San bleeding from the mouth, dazed and unaware of what had happened.
To the others, it looked like it was slight backlash from absorbing the Soul Ring, But for Max…
It was another prize added to his growing arsenal.
Now that all his students had absorbed their spirit rings—Tang San included—Max had no reason to linger in the Star Dou Forest. The journey back to Ghidorah Academy was swift. Once there, the students returned to their training and studies, excited and stronger than ever.
But Max? He returned straight to his office.
He locked the doors, summoned his Martial Spirit, and conjured a containment circle made of condensed spiritual pressure. Then, with a faint shimmer of dark light, six external spirit bones materialized before him—hovering, humming with barely suppressed power.
1. Eight Spider Lances – Abyss Variant
Taken from the Human-Faced Demon Spider, this was the first bone Max had stolen from Tang San. It granted eight pitch-black arachnid limbs that could pierce, grip, and inject venom.
The limbs could extend and retract at will, allowing high-speed movement and deadly mid-air control.
Effect: Grants powerful poison-infused attacks, enhanced speed, and climbing ability. The limbs are durable enough to block mid-tier spirit skills.
2. Eight Spider Lances – Crimson Widow Variant
Taken from a Pink Widow Scorpion Spider. Unlike the Abyss Variant, this version was sleeker, blood-hued, and designed for agility and precision.
Effect: Faster but deadlier poison, capable of paralysis and nerve disruption. Also boosts poison resistance and reaction speed.
3. Venomous Fangs of the Datura Snake
A pair of long, curved fangs that could be summoned from someones upper jaw or fingertips. Their venom wasn't merely toxic—it was hallucinogenic, causing the target to lose control of their senses.
Effect: Delivers paralytic and mind-altering venom; grants limited detection of weak points and vital flows in opponents.
4. Blackhorn Lizard Horn
A dense, spiraled black horn taken from a 1,800-year-old Blackhorn Lizard King. When summoned, it extended from the shoulder or temple, doubling as a piercing weapon or ramming tool.
Effect: Physical defense boost; charging attacks that rupture defenses; carries corrosive poison that melts armor and hides alike.
5. Deathmist Scorpion Tail
Taken from a Deathmist Jungle Scorpion, this bone manifested as a long, flexible tail with a crystalline stinger, coiled around Max's spine and extending down from the lower back when active.
Effect: Launches venom mist clouds that obscure vision and corrode lungs; tail strikes can paralyze even Spirit Kings temporarily.
6. Venomspike Fairy Wings
Harvested from a 1,400-year-old Giant Venomspike Centipede, this external spirit bone manifests as a pair of hauntingly beautiful wings. Shimmering in shades of translucent violet and black, the wings resemble those of a dark fairy or night spirit—graceful, delicate in appearance, but hiding lethal potential.
Grants agile flight, gliding, and mid-air maneuvering with near-silent movement.
Poison Resistance +80%, nullifies most toxin-based attacks or environments.
The wings are laced with natural venom channels; when triggered, they release a flurry of glittering bone-needles, each one tipped with potent paralytic poison.
The wings can briefly shift into a semi-armored form, folding around someone in a petal-like shield that repels direct physical attacks.
"I wonder if those gods have already burned through their divine power just to produce these External Spirit Bones for Tang San," Max mused aloud, leaning back in his chair as his eyes rested on the six shining spirit bones laid out before him.
Each one pulsed with faint light, humming with ancient power.
He smirked. "Doesn't matter. In the end, I took them all."
He stood up and paced slowly around the table. "I don't need these myself. I'm already strong enough…"
Max's fingers traced the edge of the venom-laced bone with a thoughtful air.
"But the question is… who should I give them to?"
Of course, the answer wasn't hard to reach. A sly grin crossed his lips.
"To those closest to me."
His voice lowered, becoming softer—almost tender.
"My girls—Rize, Gwen, and Malaika. And then there's Lumia… my little sister. She might not show it, but she's always watching. Always working harder than anyone else. Peter too," he murmured, a faint smile tugging at his lips. "He's not just her boyfriend anymore. He's growing into someone worthy of standing beside her."
Max's gaze swept across the table, at the six powerful External Spirit Bones lying before him—each one gleaming faintly with deadly beauty, remnants of top-tier spirit beasts, stolen from under the gods' very noses.
"But… which one to whom?"
He didn't hesitate long.
"The Eight Spider Lances," he said aloud, picking up one of the darker, more stable sets. "Peter. He's raw but adaptable, and this will be a perfect match for the direction his Spirit is going."
He turned next to the glittering, pale, fairy-like wings crafted from the Venomspike Centipede. They glimmered like starlight, elegant and quiet.
"Lumia gets these," he said. "She's always admired grace… and I think it's time she had a power as beautiful as she is."
That left four.
He reached for the Venomous Fangs—sharp, violet-pink, dripping with phantom venom that never fully faded.
"These go to Rize," he said without hesitation. "A vampire's bite deserves the deadliest fangs in existence. This will push her natural advantages into monstrous levels."
Then, the lighter Eight Spider Lances—this set had a faint pink hue, formed from the mutated Pink Scorpion Lady. Slightly more flexible, laced with control and stealth.
"Malaika will benefit the most from these. She's already built for infiltration and sudden strikes—this will turn her into a shadow on wings."
Now only one spirit bone remained—the Horn of the Black-Horned Lizard. Max stared at it for a moment, then narrowed his eyes.
"No… this won't work for Gwen. She's the Imperial Sun Empress. This poison-based thing clashes with her essence."
With a flick of his fingers and a pulse of spiritual energy, Max activated his personal technique—[Essence Transmutation].
The bone trembled, dissolved, and reformed—molten energy reshaping its essence, guided by Max's will.
When it was done, what remained was no longer a bone of decay and venom—but a radiant, solar-forged horn, golden with flares of crimson energy sparking through it.
"Solar Lizard Horn. A perfect fit for her."
He stepped back, surveying the full set of now-assigned spirit bones.
