If he want to monitor Kain's actions in the Kamui space, then Uchiha Obito is overthinking things.
Especially after learning that Kakashi had been attacked and his Sharingan stolen, Kain received the news through a small surveillance robot hidden in the Kamui space. What good is something like a rock compared to that?
Eventually, Uchiha Obito received another virtual projection—this one about Nohara Rin. He grew anxious, unable to find a way to hand over the tailed beast he had snatched from Han of Iwagakure.
In the process of trying to seal the tailed beast, Obito nearly had half of his body crushed. While he had the power to kill the beast, sealing it was another matter entirely.
If he had the Rinnegan, it would've been much easier—but seizing it from Nagato would expose him, dragging him from the shadows and making him the enemy of the Five Great Nations.
The container used to seal the tailed beast was given to him by Kain. It was a metallic vessel crafted with Kain's Tuntun ability and inscribed with a chakra-sealing technique, long and strong enough to contain a tailed beast.
After receiving the update from his surveillance robot, Kain used his pupil technique to retrieve the container.
"No matter how reluctant that fool is, he still obediently collects tailed beasts. But now I'll need to persuade Rin to give obito a bit more stimulation."
Now that Nohara Rin has arrived in the capital of the Land of Fire, she will assist Nonō Yakushi in establishing a medical system for the kingdom.
Rin has already met Nonō, and she will soon meet her again—this time as the Nohara Rin from Yakushi Nonō's past.
Though initially awkward and confused, Rin gradually relaxed around her old teacher, and the two have slowly rekindled their former student-teacher relationship.
In addition to preparing the medical system, Rin is also tasked with providing Kain with some of the Three Tails' chakra.
Since tailed beast chakra regenerates naturally, Kain doesn't expect Rin to become a perfect Jinchūriki. Instead, he allows her to draw the chakra to the point of slight weakness, and then lets it recover over time.
However, Rin is growing increasingly disgusted with Obito. If Uchiha Obito knew that, perhaps he'd send Hongyuan to create a world where only a version of Rin who loves him exists.
After acquiring the Four Tails, Kain split off a few Shadow Clones to continue developing lightning magic. Then, he found a secluded place, released the Four Tails, and swallowed it whole.
Each tailed beast resists after being consumed, but none can break through Kain's sealed space. In the end, they're slowly digested and turned into part of Kain's power.
Several hours later, Kain's body had fully recovered.
"Being hot-tempered doesn't make you strong. You've thrown your tantrum, but you still ended up getting digested. Let's see now… Lava Style, not bad at all."
Kain conjured a magma fireball in his hand and dropped it to the ground, slowly melting the earth into a deep pit.
It could be considered an additional means of attack, but it wasn't particularly effective for him. The most important thing was to enhance his own strength. Chakra, a combination of physical and spiritual energy, is the very life force of a ninja.
Although no ninja has achieved true longevity, the fact that one can still fight like a human missile at the age of seventy or eighty is undoubtedly due to the power of Chakra.
Moreover, Tailed Beast Chakra originates from the Ten Tails, which absorbs the planet's life energy, refines it, and transforms it—making it incredibly effective at boosting Kain's power.
The energy within his body had now doubled compared to before.
While the chakra of the Four Tails and Eight Tails is immense, it contains a lot of "impurities." Chakra also carries the spiritual imprint of others. For example, the Nine Tails—so full of hatred it has nearly become a physical embodiment of it. Originally, tailed beast chakra was formed from the planet's most vital energy, but after being split into nine tailed beasts, it became tainted.
"Obito is quite the useful workhorse. I should give him some motivation next time," Kain muttered with a smirk.
He felt especially pleased knowing he could provoke Uchiha Obito into collecting the tailed beasts. Just thinking about how miserable obito looked before—especially after daring to plot against Kushina—made Kain want to personally deliver a gift of pain.
Slowly carving away at him with a blunt knife before kicking him into hell… That would be the perfect gesture of appreciation.
After digesting the Four Tails, Kain used Apparition to teleport directly to Nohara Rin's residence. He knocked on the door, stepped inside, and said:
"Rin, I need your help."
"My lord," Rin responded.
The moment Kain entered, Rin's eyes lit up with joy. In the past few years, Kain was the person she had seen the most. When interacting with others, Rin would unconsciously put up walls—but not with him.
After hearing Kain's request, Rin hesitated and said with some resistance, "I… I'll have to show this to Obito, right? Is that… necessary? I mean, if I don't, it should be fine, right?"
Kain was surprised. He had thought Rin might be hesitant out of kindness or moral conflict, but it turned out she simply didn't want to involve Uchiha Obito.
Smiling, Kain gently placed his hand on her head and said, "It's alright, Rin. No one else will know about this. I'll take care of everything."
"But… my lord…"
"Rin, are you unwilling to help me? If so, that's fine. I'll just find another way. It'll be more troublesome, but manageable."
"Of course not! I'm willing to help you, my lord!"
Rin lifted her delicate face and spoke with a firm tone, her voice slightly raised. She didn't want Kain to think she was useless. Despite her inner reluctance, she believed she could control herself and fulfill the task.
Hearing this, Kain smiled and said, "Then I'll leave it to you."
Meanwhile, the war in the Land of Rain had ended so swiftly that even the Rock and Sand villages were caught off guard.
Ohnoki and the Third Kazekage had just received news of Rain Shinobi Village's defeat when they learned Konoha had already taken complete control of it.
Yuzang had led most of Rain Village's ninja, confidently preparing to repel Konoha—only to be utterly crushed in the initial encounter.
He barely escaped with a handful of survivors and fled back to the village. But before he could recover from the trauma, he received news that Konoha's forces were already marching toward them.
Any Rain Shinobi who had witnessed that battle wanted nothing to do with that monster again. No matter how they attacked, it was useless. Even if they managed to cut off its head or limbs, the creature would explode with terrifying force—taking dozens of comrades down with it.
Some people, led by Yuzang, abandoned Rain Shinobi Village and fled as soon as they saw Konoha's forces approaching.
After all, Yuzang hadn't informed anyone, and if people started fleeing on a large scale, who knew whether they might become targets of Konoha's pursuing shinobi?
With even the leader of Rain Shinobi Village fleeing, the remaining forces naturally had no will to resist.
Uchiha Fugaku and Uchiha Shisui led the biomechanical warriors into the village and temporarily took control, waiting for representatives from the Land of Fire to arrive and officially take over the governance of the Land of Rain.
"Patriarch!"
After returning, Uchiha Shisui found Fugaku. He had just completed a sweep of Rain Shinobi Village and brought back troubling news.
"Most of the civilians are cold towards us—some even openly hostile. If a few agitators start something, we could have a real problem on our hands."
Shisui wasn't worried about their safety—their strength was more than enough to suppress any uprising. But if unrest broke out, they'd be forced to use violence, and that would almost certainly lead to civilian casualties.
"Shisui, your foresight is commendable. It seems I can safely entrust the Uchiha clan to you in the future," Fugaku said with a pleased smile.
Unlike the Hyuga clan, the Uchiha clan didn't pass down leadership strictly through lineage. Fugaku himself wasn't a descendant of Madara. If a more capable member emerged, they could be nurtured as the next clan head—and Shisui's talent had few rivals.
"The Daimyo's office has already issued a directive. Following the policy outlined there should be enough to calm public unrest."
Fugaku handed Shisui a document. After reading it, Shisui suddenly understood why the patriarch had checked the village's financial records upon arrival.
Each household in Rain Shinobi Village was to receive 50 catties of rice, 10 catties of meat, and 30,000 ryō. Genin were granted 150,000 ryō, and Chūnin were awarded 350,000 ryō as war compensation.
Shisui now saw the logic clearly. With such policies, most of Rain Shinobi Village's dissatisfaction with Konoha would vanish.
As for the families of Rain Shinobi who died in the war, they were included in the follow-up resettlement plans. The initial priority, however, was to stabilize those still alive and fighting.
Although Hanzo had been a powerful leader, he'd never shown much concern for the everyday lives of Rain Village's civilians. His focus was solely on military strength.
In contrast, the Fire Nation's daimyo was a rare kind of ruler—someone who truly cared for the people's welfare and could guarantee their safety. He could be considered a "wise sovereign," the likes of which hadn't been seen in decades.
As for Kain, who didn't care about money at all, he was already regarded as a sort of "holy master" among the Jōnin.
"Patriarch, about this matter…"
"Go ahead, Shisui," Fugaku interrupted. "Take half of the biomechanical warriors and use them to patrol Rain Shinobi Village. Leave the rest to me—we'll prevent any signs of rebellion."
Fugaku was going all out to pave the way for Shisui to become the Sixth Hokage of the Uchiha clan. Since he had no chance of winning the Fifth Hokage position over Nawaki, his hopes now rested on Shisui's future.
"Yes, understood, Patriarch."
Following his orders, Shisui immediately began acting on the directive. The first step was distributing the village's stored supplies.
In a land as fertile as the Land of Fire, setting aside a small amount of farmland would be enough to feed the civilians of the Land of Rain.
A few days later, when Pain and members of the Akatsuki arrived at Rain Shinobi Village, they immediately sensed they were too late.
The civilians wore happier expressions than before. They even greeted the patrolling Konoha shinobi with smiles. The former Rain ninja had removed their forehead protectors, and there was no sign of conflict anywhere in the village.
Pain muttered under his breath, "We're too late, aren't we?"
