Author's Notes: Chapter edited and corrected by Scott Fellman.
I felt the bugs on my body, but I didn't do anything. Now... how would I do this? Maybe it wasn't my best plan to come directly to confront All Might, but I couldn't back out now, not when the door opened and All Might was standing there.
"YES, YOUNG MIYAMURA?" All Might asked, confused.
"Can we talk? It's... something important." I said seriously. All Might frowned but nodded, opened the door, and let me in. I entered lightly and looked at Midoriya, who was confused.
"Izumi?" Midoriya asked, confused. I smiled slightly at him.
"I'M SORRY, YOUNG MIDORIYA, BUT IT LOOKS LIKE WE'LL HAVE TO END OUR LUNCH EARLY!" All Might said with an apologetic smile. Midoriya blinked a few times but nodded.
"No need. It doesn't matter if he listens," I said simply. All Might was confused, but he still moved one of the chairs and placed it on the other side of the small table where All Might and Midoriya had been sitting.
"SO? WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU, YOUNG MIYAMURA?" All Might asked as he placed a cup of tea before me. I hummed lightly.
"Are you Midoriya's biological father?" I asked directly. They were both surprised.
"W-what?! W - why did you mention it!? O-of course not!!" Midoriya squealed in panic. I raised an eyebrow in All Might's direction.
"You have to teach him how to lie." I said dryly. Midoriya blushed while All Might sighed and smiled at his son to calm him down.
"YES… IT IS, HOW DID YOU KNOW, YOUNG MIYAMURA?" All Might asked softly.
"First, you're not at all subtle in your favoritism toward him." I said dryly. All Might smiled sheepishly. "second, my grandfather mentioned it." I said simply. All Might went completely still before nodding.
"THAT MAKES SENSE." All Might said simply. "IS THERE A REASON FOR THE QUESTION, OR JUST CURIOSITY?" he asked again.
"You...Sorahiko and Nana, are your biological parents?" I asked directly. All Might's eyes widened.
"...YOUR... GRANDFATHER TOLD YOU THAT TOO?" All Might asked, surprised. I didn't respond and just stared at him. All Might sighed. "I'M NOT UNDERSTANDING THESE QUESTIONS, YOUNG MIYAMURA, BUT I GOT THERE'S NO SENSE IN HIDING IT. YES, SORAHIKO AND NANA ARE MY BIOLOGICAL PARENTS."
"Shit." I couldn't help but curse loudly.
"YOUNG MIYAMURA?" All Might asked, confused. Midoriya, on his side, was also terribly confused.
"Do you... do you have a brother?" I asked again. This time, All Might's brow furrowed immediately.
"THESE QUESTIONS ARE TERRIBLY PERSONAL, YOUNG MIYAMURA," All Might said firmly. I grimaced.
"Please... just... answer that question," I begged. All Might frowned and stared at me for a few seconds.
"I know your grandfather, and in the time I've taught you, despite your propensity for... CHAOS, I know you wouldn't ask something like that for nothing." All Might finally said. "YES, I had a younger brother. 10 years younger than me, but... I haven't seen him in years. My mother had me early, at 17, with Sorahiko. At 27, she had Kotaro. But... things happened, and we grew apart." All Might said vaguely.
"Fuck." I muttered as I closed my eyes and massaged the bridge of my nose. This was a terrible headache. I looked at Midoriya, who wasn't surprised by the information, just very confused.
"NOW IT'S YOUR TURN TO ANSWER THE QUESTIONS, YOUNG MIYAMURA. WHY SO MANY QUESTIONS? WHY THE INTEREST IN MY FAMILY?" All Might asked seriously. I sighed and grimaced.
"Bear with me. This... is complicated." I sighed. "How... advanced do you think my Haki is?" I asked slowly. All Might frowned.
"A LOT, YOU HAVE ALL THREE TYPES OF HAKI, AND YOU HAVE MASTERED IT TO A HIGH LEVEL. YOU ARE VERY STRONG." All Might said directly. I nodded.
"You're right; both my armor and conqueror's haki came to me easily, but my observation, haki, I had to train for many years to reach the 'same' level, and I achieved it. I... I can see the future with a lot of effort, about a few seconds, but it's more than enough." I said simply.
"Wait! You can see the future with Haki?!" Midoriya squealed in disbelief. All Might nodded thoughtfully.
"YOU CAN, BUT... YOU NEED A TERRIBLY HIGH LEVEL OF MASTERY. ONLY A HANDFUL OF PEOPLE ARE CAPABLE OF ACCOMPLISHING SUCH A THING. IT'S INCREDIBLE." All Might said honestly, and I felt proud of the acknowledgment. My observation haki was my greatest pride.
"Well… you know Haki is weird, sometimes it does things… unexpectedly, and my Haki sometimes gives me… flashes of the past, of meaningless information, or things that didn't happen, things that… may or may not have happened yet," I said vaguely, not having any other way to tell him my canon knowledge. But telling him about Tenko? About his nephew, his brother's son. It was more important than keeping that hidden.
"That's... weird, what did you see?" All Might asked directly.
"It was… confusing. I saw it at USJ, when I looked at that Shigaraki guy, the images he showed me made no sense. It was just… things that didn't make sense, but today, when Taylor mentioned that my grandfather said Midoriya was your son. Azula said that Izuku's grandfather was Gran Torino… the chips completely fell into place." I said solemnly. Midoriya gulped audibly as All Might looked at me.
"WHAT... DID YOU SEE?" All Might asked once again, much more serious than before.
"Shigaraki's real name is Tenko Shimura." All Might immediately stood up. I continued. "Son of Kotaro Shimura, your brother, and his wife."
"NO!" All Might thundered. The look of disbelief and fury on his face.
"All For One manipulated Tenko, took away his original quirk, and gave him a decomposition quirk. Tenko lost control of his quirk and killed his entire family. Including Kotaro."
"NOOO!" All Might roared as he stood up. I didn't flinch; I looked him straight into the eyes.
"When he was alone and at his lowest point, All For One 'found' Tenko and gave him a 'family'. It was all planned, a coup against you, against Nana Shimura."
"AALLL FOOOR OONEEE!!!!" All Might's angry roar made me grimace. I could feel his aura pressuring the entire school. It was truly shocking. I looked at Midoriya, who seemed stunned at the information. But he flinched violently at All Might's shout but still moved.
Midoriya was hugging his father in a split second, trying to calm him down. All Might seemed to notice his son's reaction and gritted his teeth as he tried to calm himself.
"ARE YOU ABSOLUTELY SURE OF WHAT YOU SAW, YOUNG MIYAMURA?" All Might asked forcefully.
"My… Haki hasn't been wrong so far. It's… there might be some things that are a little different, like her name not being Tenko; it's Shimura, but her name can change, besides that? The general outlines? They always remain the same, so I have complete faith in what I saw. Sadly, it's true." I said with a grimace. And in this, I did have faith that it was true.
Tenko Shimura was born with a quirk similar to her grandmother Nana's, which was later stolen and used by All For One. The fact that Shigaraki has Decay, that her family's hands are hanging around her body, and that she hates All Might so much was more than enough proof that she was Nana's granddaughter.
This is way more twisted and evil than canon. Yeah, using All Might's teacher's grandson was bad, but now that Tenko was All Might's nephew? It somehow made it so much worse. And it was the only reason I told All Might about this. He deserved to know.
"DID… DID YOU SEE SOMETHING ELSE, YOUNG MIYAMURA?" All Might asked, completely serious. I grimaced.
"Not really. Most of the things I see are irrelevant, shapeless images that only make sense once things happen or in hindsight. I tend to ignore them most of the time. I learned to ignore them. Sorry." I lied lightly. I had more information. A lot, but I couldn't reveal everything to him; it would raise too many suspicions. Haki doesn't work that way. They'd ask questions I didn't want to answer, and I'd be a nuisance.
But I wasn't lying either. While I knew the canon of most of the series, I quickly discovered that it didn't matter; each "character" in those series was their own person in this world. I could be wary of canonical events and prepare for certain circumstances, but when dealing with people—human beings with their own feelings and ideas—I was ignorant of most of what I knew.
So, I didn't have the canon in mind whenever I met someone new.
"DON'T WORRY, YOUNG MIYAMURA. I APPRECIATE THE INFORMATION… I… I HAVE TO TALK TO SOMEONE." All Might said through gritted teeth. He seemed ready to leave.
"Wait, All Might, before that… could you explain how One For All aired and about Nana and your brother? Sorry if it's… insensitive right now, but I… saw some stuff about you and Midoriya, but like I said, just random footage, I need some context." I said hastily. I was curious. All Might seemed to be struggling, but he nodded.
"I SUPPOSE SINCE YOU ALREADY KNOW, IT SHOULDN'T BE A PROBLEM. YOU ALREADY KNOW ALL FOR ONE, SO LET'S SKIP THE HISTORY LESSON. SHE-" She?! "-HAD A SISTER-" Of course she did! "-QUIRKLESS, THE YOUNGER SISTER WAS SMALL AND FRAGILE, BUT HAD A GREAT SENSE OF JUSTICE, AND STOOD UP TO HER OLDER SISTER."
"ALL FOR ONE FORCED A POWER-GATHERING QUIRK ONTO HER YOUNGER SISTER. WHETHER SHE DID IT OUT OF KINDNESS OR TO CONTROL HER AT WILL, WE DON'T KNOW. BUT THE YOUNGER SISTER HAD AN ANCIENT, INSIGNIFICANT QUIRK THAT COULD ONLY BE PASSED ON TO OTHERS."
"AND SO, THE QUIRK THAT GATHERS POWER AND THE QUIRK THAT COULD BE PASSED ON TO OTHERS WERE UNITED. CREATING ONE FOR ALL. EVEN SO, THE YOUNGER SISTER SUFFERED A CRUSHING DEFEAT, SO SHE DECIDED TO ENTRUST HER POWER TO THE NEXT GENERATION. IT WAS PASSED DOWN FROM WOMAN TO WOMAN FOR 7 GENERATIONS WHEN IT FELL INTO THE HANDS OF MY MOTHER NANA."
"NANA HAD ME WHEN SHE WAS 17, AS I ALREADY MENTIONED. SHE AND SORAHIKO WERE VERY GOOD PARENTS AND EXCELLENT ROLE MODELS. I WANTED TO BE A HERO LIKE THEM... LIKE HER, TO BRING A SMILE TO EVERYONE'S FACES AND THAT WE COULD LIVE HAPPILY TOGETHER. WHEN I WAS 10 YEARS OLD, KOTARO WAS BORN-" All Might's expression was one of pain. "- FOR 5 YEARS, THE FOUR OF US WERE A CLOSE FAMILY. UNTIL A VILLAIN LED BY AFO ATTACKED KOTARO AND ME WHEN OUR PARENTS WERE AWAY."
"WE WERE SAVED BY LUCK, BUT... MOM, SHE THOUGHT IT WOULD BE BETTER TO PLACE US IN A FOSTER HOME, TO PROTECT US FROM AFO'S REPRISALS WHILE SHE CONTINUED THE WAR SHE INHERITED FROM OFA ALONG WITH HER HUSBAND, SORAHIKO. I REFUSED, I TOLD HER TO TRAIN ME, I SHOUTED MY IDEALS AT HER... AND MY MOTHER ACCEPTED THEM. SHE BEGAN TO TRAIN ME AND PASSED ON ONE FOR ALL TO ME WHILE KOTARO WAS PLACED IN A FOSTER HOME, AWAY FROM US."
"...AND FORTY YEARS I HAD ONE FOR ALL, UNTIL I PASSED IT ON TO IZUKU. THE BEST HEIR I COULD HAVE, AND I'M NOT JUST SAYING THAT AS A FATHER." All Might said with a proud smile as he looked at his son. Midoriya blushed deeply but smiled proudly at the praise. "AND... THAT IS THE STORY OF OFA, PLEASE KEEP IT SECRET." All Might said, I nodded.
"Thank you, and I'm sorry, All Might, and don't worry, I won't tell anyone," I promised honestly. All Might nodded before sighing. He was about to speak, but the bell signaling that classes were about to start rang again.
"YOU HAVE TO GO BACK TO CLASS." All Might said firmly. "AND I… HAVE TO FIND MY FATHER." All Might said solemnly. I grimaced.
"I'll go with you!" Midoriya said forcefully.
"IZUKU-"
"I'll go with you. This... this is a family thing. We have to stick together." Izuku said determinedly, his eyes shining with an unyielding fire. All Might smiled almost tearfully and pulled his son into a hug.
"That's what we'll do, son, that's what we'll do." All Might said softly. I stood up.
"Once again, All Might, I'm sorry for the bad news." I said, interrupting the moment.
"DON'T WORRY, YOUNG MIYAMURA, I-NO, WE NEEDED TO KNOW, DESPITE THE BAD NEWS, IT WASN'T YOUR FAULT, IT'S ALL THE FAULT OF AFO'S TWISTED MIND, WE... WE'LL BE FINE." All Might said with a sad smile. I grimaced. "COME ON IZUKU, LET'S TELL NEZU THAT WE HAVE TO LEAVE IMMEDIATELY." All Might said in his son's direction. " AND YOUNG MIYAMURA, YOU'D BETTER RUN. AIZAWA SHOULD ALREADY BE IN THE CLASSROOM WAITING, AND PLEASE TELL HIM THAT IZUKU HAD TO LEAVE THAT NEZU WILL TELL HIM WHAT'S HAPPENING."
My eyes opened wide.
"I'll tell him!" I said before running out of the room toward Taylor's aura. I slammed the door open and saw Aizawa staring at me with a dead expression. Shit. "Did I get lost in the ways of life?" I smiled confidently at Aizawa, which made Aizawa's eyes narrow even further. I grimaced as my classmates snickered lightly. Yeah, obviously it wasn't going to work. I sighed tiredly and walked into the classroom.
"By the way, Professor, I have a message from All Might-"
Once I told him that Midoriya had something important to do and was with All Might and Nezu, Aizawa let me in, luckily with only a verbal reprimand. I took my seat only to have a group of bugs carrying a small piece of paper land before me. I sighed and tore the paper off the bugs.
[Is everything you said to A.M. true?] the note said. I almost wanted to snort loudly. Of course, Taylor was listening. I'd noticed the bugs. Had she told the others?
[Yes, it is, but keep it to yourself. If you told R. and A., tell them the same.] I quickly wrote it down and gave it to the bugs to carry the message. I just saw Ashido giving me a knowing look. I rolled my eyes before reaching up and grabbing a small piece of paper that was thrown my way almost without thinking.
I looked at Ruby, who smiled at me foolishly. I sighed tiredly.
[Is it true!?] I sighed once more. She told them.
[If it is, talk to you later; don't tell anyone.] I typed once more before looking at Ruby, who was looking at me from the corner of my eye. I carefully looked at Aizawa before forcefully throwing the small paper. Ruby smiled confidently and moved her hand to catch the paper in the air, only to pass through her fingers and hit her in the eye.
"gah!" Ruby groaned. She paled considerably before grabbing the message, shoving it in her mouth, and looking down at her textbook as if she was seriously reading, just in time for Aizawa to turn around. He glared at us for a few seconds before turning around. Several of us who had seen Ruby get hit in the eye stifled a laugh.
I looked at Ruby, pouting at me from a distance with her red, watery eyes, and I just smiled mockingly at her. Just then, another group of insects came to me with two pieces of paper.
[even the visions?] had Taylor's handwriting.
[You'll tell us everything later. Azula.] in Azula's handwriting. I sighed.
[Yes, yes, everything you heard is true. We'll talk about everything, I promise. Pass it on to the others.] I quickly scribbled once more. The bugs promptly carried the message to Taylor, who read it before taking it to Ruby and Azula. I sighed. Yes, I had a long talk waiting for me.
Just as class was about to end, Aizawa announced the end-of-semester exams and our summer camp in the forest. That got everyone completely excited. I quickly did the math. We had a month and a half until the final exams. There was plenty of time.
Once the bell rang, I gathered all my things and approached Taylor. Ruby appeared at my side immediately.
"By the way, Hebert, come here. The principal is calling you." Aizawa's voice made us look at him confusedly. Uh,... curious.
