I was escorted to a detention center and the woman saw that I had nothing but the clothes on my back. So she gave me a paper bracelet with a QR code on it. As I put it on another woman took me to a room with a huge cage with people trapped in it. People were pacing back and forth for their turn to either be executed or become a citizen of Saber. The woman nudged me in and asked for Flores, Gomez, Reyes, Castillo, Mendoza and Juárez. I sat down and extended my senses. I felt a trap door open and a bunch of zombies came crawling out. I said nothing since these people are more likely to recognize me as a non-human entity. The Hispanic detainees made ten feet when the door opened and these things came bursting in. I screamed 'Zombie' and the woman left the gate open as she bolted towards the door. The detainees ran towards the exit too. As for me I kicked the cage and the section fell down. Those that didn't make it were eaten alive.
A few tried to push me but I elbowed them as I tried not to get caught. We all followed the woman till I saw a window and jumped out from there. A few brave souls did the same. People were cheering as they smelled fresh oxygen for the first time in what could possibly be days. As we made it out of the building a missile flew above our heads and struck the building. With a loud boom the structure came crashing down like a deck of cards. As the building came down a cloud of dust pushed forward like a weird looking mushroom. People started to run faster so they will not inhale the toxic substance. Once we were cleared of the debris we sat down to catch our breath.
The soldiers wearing masks and goggles ignored us as they waited for the dust to clear up. We were rounded up and kept aside. A few minutes a forklift arrived and started to push the rubble to search for survivors. Two hours later the very hole that the zombies came out of was about to be cleared. I can sense these things were under the hole waiting. They can smell the blood all over the place and I am sure they will burst out the moment the rock is pushed aside. I kept my head between my knees so nobody could see what was going on. One of the detainees named Juárez was making rounds with a couple of water bottls. He introduced himself and politely made a few inquiries before moving on.
He came and sat next to me and started asking questions. I pretended to ignore him so he politely poked me. So I looked up and started to use sign language. The man froze for a moment and started to sign too. He asked me where I was from and where I was heading. I was about to say none of your business when the huge rock was pushed aside and those things came running like someone had ring the dinner to a bunch ravenous lions. The soldiers yelled, "Light em up" the soldiers started to open fire upon the zombies as we got up and ran for our lives. We ran towards the direction that a young man in a hazmat suit pointed to. A bus was waiting for us. The windows were covered with bars and fine mesh. The wheels had spikes on them. As soon as we were all on board the men and women in arms were right behind us. They jumped on their vehicles and began driving to the wall that defended Saber from these menaces.
The zombies were not far behind. Highly motivated these things ran tirelessly as soldiers opened the roof of their vehicles. A man on a chair popped up with a machine gun propped in front of him. A woman yelled 'open fire'. These people started shooting till they ran out of rounds. Then they retracted back to the vehicle. As we made it through the winding path I got to see the humongous wall with snipers and flamethrowers at the ready. The moment we made it past the gate. It was like someone had declared open season. Everyone with a weapon was firing like there was no tomorrow. The bus drove till it reached a new building. It resembles a cylinder. An elderly bald man wearing a moss green t-shirt and camouflage pants walked out with two subordinates sporting some sort of electronic device. We were removed from the bus single file and scanned one by one.
Since their numbers were dwindling we were temporary citizenship. I wanted to throw up. Here I am trying to leave this evil place and now I am a citizen. What sort of twisted..."ALRIGHT LISTEN UP" I had to remain perfectly still since but the urge to rip the megaphone from him was overwhelming since it almost ruptured my eardrums. The guy who was barking orders was two feet from me. Since I was well-fed my hearing came back within mere moments. After the scanner we had to explain our special skill sets because our job will depend on it.
I said that I had no skills whatsoever so I was given the job as a cleaner. I was escorted to a building resembling a six petaled asterisk. I was given a one room apartment on the fifth floor. The room wasn't bugged but everywhere else was. The center of the structure had a small courtyard followed by a separate cylindrical building. I used x-ray vision to see that this was the security sector. Their job was simply to monitor us and eavesdrop on our conversations. These people listen to specific keywords. The moment they said them. These people would hit a silent alarm. Mere moments later men and women in heavy restraints come call and drag the person in question elsewhere never to be seen or heard from again.
After a shower and a change of clothes I stepped out to explore but that was cut short when a scrawny man in a hazmat suit came with an air of arrogance. He said that it was time to go to work. He gave me a bag. He said, "Put this on and come out in five minutes" I went back indoors and pulled out a jet black jumpsuit with stripes that illuminate even in the dimmest light. I put it on and carefully walked out to see about fifty more people with similar outfits waiting. The moment everyone was accounted for.
We walked out on foot like we were a bunch of kindergartners. An hour of walking later I realized we were walking towards a fence. There were chains with cuffs snaking all over the grass. One by one we stood in a row as soldiers took a restraint and cuffed our legs. Then our hips were restrained too. After a few tugs we got a plastic bag and some sort of stick with two prongs on the bottom end. The soldiers gave us a pat on the back as a sort of good luck and we were pushed forward to get cleaning. We picked zombie limbs, guts and other stuff. Once the bag was full we got a new bag. This went on for another five hours before the hazmat man called it quits. After which the restraints are removed we are given a thorough pat down then escorted back on foot with armed men and women flanking us.
We were escorted to the mess hall. After eating we were given some petty cash and precisely an hour to roam around. I went to find a book store or a library. Unfortunately neither has existed in the past fifteen years of the divided States of America. After a walk around the block I made my way back to see another man wearing a lab coat. He was holding an unusual device. It resembles a gun but it was more like a syringe. He pulled out a strip of plastic from the business end of this pseudo gun. We were told to come one by one. He pressed the business end and squeezed the trigger. The man jumped in pain but said nothing. The gun was placed in a liquid sterilizing thing. After we all got our shots the elderly man from earlier came and said that professor Joan had inserted a tracking device smaller than a single grain of rice into our bodies. Should we try to escape the men and women on patrol will press a few buttons and the escapee will go boom. I have to find a way out of here. Soon we were allowed indoors and the professor said, "This device can't track anything but it will only go boom." The old man chuckled, "Fear is an excellent motivator to keep these newbies in line."
