Chapter 98 - DANZO'S NIGHTMARE

The moon hung low, casting a cold silver glow over the Uchiha District. Silent rooftops loomed like waiting tombstones, and a strange tension clung to the air, thick as the impending bloodshed.

In the heart of the shadowed alleys, the black-ops Root division spread like a plague—masked, uniformed, emotionless. They lined the rooftops and narrow streets like a noose closing around the proud clan. Their leader stood at the center: Danzo Shimura. Clad in his bandaged arrogance and a mind honed by decades of darkness, he watched the scene unfold with practiced detachment.

"We wait for the signal from Itachi," Danzo spoke, his voice like gravel scraping bone. "Until then, ensure none escape. The Uchiha bloodline must be cut from the root."

His soldiers bowed wordlessly, some already weaving silent hand signs to prepare chakra-enhanced detection, genjutsu traps, sealing formations. A dome of silent execution was falling fast.

Then came a sound—so faint, it was almost imaginary. A ripple in the wind. A twitch in perception. A whisper of velocity that defied logic.

One second, nothing.

The next—XLR8.

A blur of electric blue ripped through the air like a thunderclap. Several seal-makers were sliced cleanly through their masks and torsos before their hands could complete a single sign. Ink scrolls and kunai dropped uselessly as limbs flew and blood misted the moonlight.

"Enemy!" one Root operative barked.

Too late.

XLR8 zipped through the formation in a dizzying corkscrew, his claws tearing through torsos and throats with surgical speed. Smoke bombs and fire jutsu detonated too slow, too wide. A wall of Earth rose—only to crumble before it fully hardened, shattered by centrifugal velocity.

Danzo's eye widened. "He's targeting the sealers first. It's a summoned beast."

Uchiha's had such a fast summoned beast? As expected Itachi and Shisui are evil Uchiha's.

While cursing at Uchiha's, The old warhawk was already weaving signs. "Fire Style: Phoenix Flame Barrage!"

Dozens of Root members followed suit. Fireballs, wind-laced blades, lightning bursts—a storm of death converged on the blue alien blur.

And then—it was gone.

Floating in the smoke was a new shape. Translucent, regal, cold.

Big Chill.

A flick of his wings dispersed the chakra smoke, revealing him hovering in serene defiance.

"Formation Delta—" one Root called, only to be met with a phase-strike to the face. Big Chill's clawed hand passed through his skull, freezing the brain instantly. The corpse dropped like a stone.

Two more Root agents lunged in taijutsu synchronization, but Big Chill caught one's arm and slammed him into the other, snapping bones. With fluid grace, he danced through them—twisting, parrying, phasing mid-strike only to solidify at the perfect moment to shatter ribs and necks.

"Don't engage him physically!" Danzo ordered, already shifting tactics. "Use chakra suppression techniques!"

How many summoned beasts this cursed clan had? First one was very fast and this had ice power and phasing powers. Sure enough Uchiha clan is an evil clan. Hiding such powerful summoned beasts.

Looking at power of the summoned beast, Danzo's eyes flashed with greed. He ordered," Capture it alive, I want it."

The air shimmered. Roots unleashed shadow ropes, lightning snares, and water prisons. One leapt in, his blade glowing with Wind Chakra—he swung, and Big Chill caught the blade with two fingers. It passed through him like mist. He grinned.

Then froze the blade. And the user. Shattered both in a blink.

From behind, four Root elites struck in unison. Big Chill turned mid-air, claws locking with their weapons. His wings flared. In that moment—taijutsu.

He dropped the mystique of distance and fought hand-to-hand.

Parries. Palm strikes. Dodges mid-phase. One Root got in a solid kick to the ribs—but Big Chill let it pass through, reforming behind him. "Nice try."

One touch, and the ninja's spine was ice. He collapsed twitching.

Danzo leapt into the fray, chakra-infused cane slamming toward Big Chill's face. Big Chill caught it with his claw. "You."

Danzo's eyes burned. " How dare you attack roots..."

He surged forward—Wind Style: Vacuum Blade! A crescent of compressed air split the ground as Big Chill phased through it and spun, his claws raking Danzo's shoulder. Blood sprayed. The bandaged man growled.

Danzo flipped back and landed. "That phasing ability… problematic."

Big Chill hovered above, calmly.

But Root operatives tackled him midair, chaining together jutsu—Lightning Style: Chain Bind! A net of electricity exploded around him.

Big Chill snarled in pain, cracking frost trailing his wounds.

Danzo didn't hesitate. "Now!"

Root flung explosive tags. Big Chill hissed—and dissolved into a cloud of mist. The ice dropped… and shattered.

Then sound—multi-toned, echoing like a choir of war.

Echo Echo.

White bodies rose from the frost mist. Ten. Twenty. Thirty clones appeared, their sonic cores humming.

Danzo clenched his fists. "Another summoned beast or is it a single beast with powerful transformation abilities…?"

All Echo Echo units spoke in unison: "No. We are legion."

They stomped.

"SONIC SCREAM!"

The sound shattered rooftops. Roots were flung like ragdolls, their eardrums ruptured, internal organs vibrating into mush.

Danzo leapt away, shielding with Wind Release. But even he staggered. "What kind of monster's Uchiha clan was hiding…"

The sound stopped. Smoke lingered.

And in the haze—one Echo Echo stood alone.

Suddenly he tapped on the Omnitrix and with a flash of green appeared...

Ultimate Echo Echo.

Energy wings flared, disk speakers extended, armor plating flexing. "Your plan dies here."

Danzo bit his lip. "Izanagi."

He activated one of his Sharingan—time rewound for him a second, escaping the attack.

Ultimate Echo Echo turned his head. "You'll run out of eyes."

The battle raged—plasma disks sliced, Sonic Shocks exploded. Danzo dodged, weaving high-level jutsu:

"Wind Style: Vacuum Great Sphere!"

The air imploded toward Echo Echo, who split into more clones, overwhelming the space with sound and plasma. Trees splintered. Metal bent. Danzo was forced to use one more Izanagi activations just to survive.

He was left with two sharingan's eye—one is Shisui's.

---

Danzo's cloak flared as he skidded backward, boots grinding deep furrows into the cracked earth. The world howled around him, the sonic onslaught from Ultimate Echo Echo ripping the air itself to shreds. Dust churned like a storm around him, and the surviving Root agents—those not already dead or deafened—were scattered, leaderless, bleeding from every orifice.

His chest heaved.

This... this isn't a summoned beast. This is something else entirely.

He clutched his bleeding arm, chakra pulsing to halt the flow. Three Izanagi. Gone. Just to avoid instant death. That power… it should be his....

He leapt to the rooftop, panting, and surveyed the carnage below. The once-orderly formation of Root had turned into a graveyard of broken bodies and useless blood seals.

His mind raced.

These aren't Uchiha techniques. Not genjutsu. Not elemental jutsu. This is something entirely foreign.

He activated another trigger. His skin shimmered as an emergency concealment seal tried to mask his chakra. He darted back toward the far end of the Uchiha District, hands blurring through hand seals. "Wind Style: Gale Surge!"

A vortex of wind tore through the ground in his wake, kicking up dust, sealing tags, and debris—desperate cover for retreat.

I need to live. I can't die here, not until I become Hokage! I've sacrificed too much. If I die here, the biggest cancer of Konoha is going to survive and Hiruzen's passive actions is gonna destroy Konoha. Only I can lead Konoha to greatness, I need to survive.

If I can escape, I can regroup. Analyze this threat. Turn it against Konoha's enemies. Weaponize it.

But Ultimate Echo Echo wasn't giving chase.

He anticipated.

From above, from behind, from everywhere—plasma disks and sonic detonations erupted in unison.

Danzo barely managed to avoid the brunt, but he was clipped—spun mid-air as the shockwave slammed into his back. Blood sprayed from his mouth as he smashed into a wall.

Damn it! He's predicting my movements... reading my counters!

He crawled to his knees, spitting red. His right arm—the one imbued with multiple Sharingan—twitched. The faces of the Uchiha embedded in him pulsed, some already fading. He checked. Only one left. Shisui's eye.

The last Izanagi.

His ultimate trump card.

Danzo's heart thudded. For the first time in years—he felt true fear.

I have to use it right. I only get one more chance. One second to undo death itself.

He vanished in a blur—Body Flicker jutsu—zigzagging between shadows, ducking under ruined buildings, over crumbling tiles, using every sensor-dampening technique he knew.

But it were watching.

It were everywhere.

Ultimate Echo Echo's voice echoed all around him—amplified, inescapable.

"You can't run. Your crimes echo louder than your heartbeat."

Danzo landed hard, lungs burning. His fingers trembled as he activated a scroll—his emergency reverse summoning array. A deep, pulsing glyph glowed on the ground.

If I can reach the outskirts, teleport out, maybe then—

A sonic shockwave tore the seal apart before he could even finish the chant. A dozen dics surrounded him.

Danzo backed up, lips curling. "You think this ends me? I am the darkness beneath Konoha. I am the unseen hand. Even if I fall, my will lives on."

Ultimate Echo Echo stepped forward.

"You're not the darkness. You're the rot."

Danzo roared. He threw a dozen kunai—chakra-etched, wind-enhanced—followed by a point-blank Wind Style: Vacuum Cutter, aiming to bisect the alien through the waist.

But the alien didn't dodge.

He absorbed the attack—the sonic waves ripped through the vacuum, imploding it mid-cast.

Danzo appeared behind Echo Echo, hand glowing with compressed chakra.

Now! My final chance!

But the moment he moved, something grabbed his shadow.

Too slow.

A new form emerged from the mist. A ghost.

Ghostfreak.

Danzo's vision twisted as claws phased through him, drawing not blood—but something deeper. His will. His secrets.

"You're not escaping," Ghostfreak whispered.

Danzo screamed as Ghostfreak's essence wrapped around him like a prison of the damned. The world spun. Illusions and truth clashed in his skull.

His final Sharingan—Shisui's eye—cracked under the strain.

His last Izanagi failed to activate.

Too late.

Danzo collapsed to his knees, bloodied, broken, mind slipping into cold numbness. He tried to crawl, fingers grasping at the dirt, dragging himself inch by inch.

Above him, Nova/Ghostfreak smiled and entered his body.
