In the following days, John Brown accompanied Charlotte at home, and Emily Bailey often came over. In the evenings, Emma Campbell was there too, so Charlotte never felt lonely and gradually began to emerge from the grief of losing her parents. Although she couldn't return to her carefree self as before, at least her smiles were no longer so forced. However, she still couldn't be left alone; otherwise, her emotions would take a turn for the worse.
During these few days, although John Brown continued to share a bed with Charlotte, she had become much more well-behaved. Every night, she would simply snuggle in his arms, only occasionally teasing him by touching his important parts, but no longer actively making any demands.
This made John Brown feel a lot more at ease. Otherwise, being so intimately close to such a lovely young woman was undeniably uncomfortable for him.
