As the day drags on, me and the girls are busy packing our things since tomorrow is the last day of our work study. While Tsuyu and Ochako spend their time chatting and saying goodbye to all the sidekicks they've befriended, I'm back in the park where me and Ryukyu are sparring. Though similar in size, Ryukyu still has a difficult time fighting me, even when I'm a Seawing. After spending so much time as a Nightwing or an Icewing I finally decided to give the Seawing a try, if only to not have it be my weakest form. We are silent as we fight, though the ground still shakes as we go back and forth, tearing up trees and throwing things around as we let loose.
"Ok ok I can't go on." Ryukyu finally says after nearly an hour, "Yay Carter!" Nejire cheers from where she has been watching us for the entire time, cheering on the both of us. "Why don't you come and fight him." Ryukyu snaps playfully as she shrinks back down and Nejire bounces over handing her a water bottle. "Because I'd lose, plus he already promised to give a ride back to UA!" Nejire said excitedly and I could hear the accusations in Ryukyu's mind.
"You have your own wings, fly yourself." I snort as I watch a grown woman pout, "Plus I'm taking the other two as well." I explained as Ryukyu raised an eyebrow "Awfully generous of you?" she half asked "We promised to buy him fresh ingredients when we got back." Nejire said and I nodded. Why go and buy things when I can get others to do it for me?
As I transform back into a human Nejire can't help but try and touch my wings but I smack her hand away as usual, "So what's with you and them anyway? You haven't spoken all week." Ryukyu asked as we walked back to the agency. "Just a disagreement." I say though the look she gives me says she doesn't believe me, Nejire for her part stays silent but I see her struggling to contain herself, so she'll probably tell Ryukyu later.
I don't worry about that though as we reach the agency as I head to the roof since I'm their ride back and all my things were shoved into my duffel bag. As Nejire goes to get the girls Ryukyu joins me on the roof, "I hope you consider joining my agency when you graduate, it'd be nice to have another heavy hitter around." she says as we watch the sun blaze high in the sky. "Sorry, but I've got something lined up back in the states." I say and she nods as if expecting my answer.
ELSEWHERE
As the police transports carrying Overhaul and his men reach the highway and head towards Tartarus, the driver at the head of the convoy notices something strange, despite it being rush hour, there are no cars around them, but before he can call it something slams into the van. BOOM!! As the lead vehicle goes flying the others panic seeing they're under attack, "Take down the others, but be careful!" Shigaraki shouts as the nomu leaps forward to the next target. The police try to fight back with guns and quirks, but the brutal assault from the nomu and Shigaraki soon has them all incapacitated or dead.
"Rip this door open nomu." The beast complies as it tears the reinforced door off its hinges, inside already awake and waiting is Kai Chisake, Overhaul. "Took you long enough." he grumbles as Shigaraki destroys the special cuffs that kept him from using his quirk, "I had to convince the others that you would be useful for the next boss fight." he snorts as he commands the nomu to open the other vans as he frees the remaining members of the Eight Bullets. "Kurogiri, we're ready to open the portal." As the portal opens sirens can be heard approaching as they enter the portal.
On the other side Kai feels a bead of sweat trickle down his face as he feels the cold steel at his neck, "I thought we had an agreement!" he snarls as Shigaraki who snorts amused "With me, but not with HIM." Stain presses the blade deeper into his neck, not quite cutting but establishing who is in charge. "Tell me." he rasps "Did you face that monster?" "If you mean the massive dragon that almost killed me, then yes." "Not almost." Stain corrects "He let you walk free, that bastard used you." he growls as Kai nods "I thought as much, back when he fought All For One he didn't have a scratch on him, then all of a sudden bullets start making him bleed? Not likely"
"The Doctor has requested any blood samples you can get your hands on." Kurogiri says as Kai shakes his head "Too late. He went back and burned any blood he found, almost setting a hero on fire." he says smirking. Irritated at his mirth Stain presses the blade closer as a single line of blood gently rolls down his neck. "Enough games, why are you here? We don't have any plans to revitalize the Yakuza." he snarls as Kai racks his brain to try and think of something.
"I can give you the formula for the quirk erasing bullets." he says finally "Bullets don't pierce his scales." Shigaraki says not looking up from his video game, "But they do erase quirks permanently." that makes him pause "I thought you said it was only temporary?" he says looking up and Kai nods "It was, but we perfected it, tested it. We almost got the phasing little shit before the dragon showed up, but it works and I know the formula." he says finally finding leverage in this precarious situation. "Dr.Garaki has also expressed interest in his quirk and possible nomu applications." Kurogiri spoke up again as Kai felt a nervous twinge.
BACK AT THE AGENCY A/N- I like snapped awake while writing this after being on auto-pilot for a month, expect slightly more chapters maybe
As Tsuyu and Ochako finally made it back up with all their things Ryukyu looked at me one last time "Whatever happened to you three, don't burn the bridge just yet." she said as I snorted. As I shifted to my Nightwing form and lowered myself just enough to have the satisfaction of watching them struggle to climb up my back, the girls being to dumb to remember they all have quirks that would have made this much easier. Without warning I take to the air and speed towards UA as the girls cling to my back for dear life, though Nejire seems to be having a good time if her excited yells were anything to go by.
As we finally touch down outside the dorms the girls nearly collapse as they hit the ground as I calmly shift back to 'normal' "I'm never doing that again kero" Tsuyu groaned as Ochako nodded "Don't forget to buy my groceries tomorrow." I grin as we take the elevator up. Despite me flat out ignoring laws concerning flying, the sun is already setting as we enter the dark dorms. "Looks like everyone went to bed early today?" Ochako says as I sense movement in the darkness. I unsheathe my claws ready for a fight before the lights flick on.
"SURPRISE!" "SURPRISE!" "SURPRISE!"
'What the hell?!' the voices and I think as I take in the sight before me. All of class 1-A and 1-B are gathered in the living room of the dorms, with party hats, balloons and a massive banner that reads "HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARTER!!" 'it's in English?' I think then I see them, Abby and John, his only two friends from the US. "Happy Birthday man!! it's so good to see you!" John yells as he nearly tackles me to the ground but Abby stops him with a giant water hand since I haven't put my claws away, John also calms down as they both remember what happened to certain bullies and touchy cheerleaders back during school.
"Happy birthday Carter." Abby says more calmly as she walks up to me and gives me a fistbump as she lets John go as he does the same, "What are you guys doing here?" I ask "You should still be in school, and I thought you were about to be sent off for some extra training?" I ask them before a new voice makes itself known. "Oh that's my fault, though they could use a break from all the chaos in the states right now." Cathleen said as she walked up behind me and I finally relaxed which a few more perceptive people noticed.
Cathleen walked right up to me as if I posed no threat at all, and looked down at me, still an infuriating 4 inches taller than me. "How ya been kid, ya miss me?" she asked and without a word I gave her a hug, she said nothing as she wrapped her arms around me, no words needed to be said. Though John and Abby looked on with happiness seeing their friend finally calm down, everyone else was shocked "She's actually touching him! And she's not dead!" a few whispered in shock, even Nezu, Toshinori and Aizawa were surprised, every time someone tried to touch him, Carter would nearly rip their arm off, even Mei wasn't spared as she got a bit too excited seeing all his different forms.
After a full minute Cathleen and Carter ended their hug as the party started, "How the fuck did you convince command to let you leave?" He asked her at one point and she laughed "The hell makes you think they can stop me, I respect the chain of command but I still got a life ya know!" John and Abby spent their time getting to know all his classmates and made quick friends, though Abby mainly stuck near Carter as she was the most introverted among the trio. John quickly made friends with Kirishima though and they started making the most noise, though the teachers let it slide tonight since they weren't being very quiet either, Present Mic coughcough.
As the party dragged on, everyone eventually got tired and went to bed, with Aizawa and Midnight making sure the boys and girls stayed separate, even though they were only 15, they didn't want to take any risks. "Heard you got a new form?" Cathleen asked as she settled onto the couch next to me, a bottle of beer in hand that she had gotten from somewhere, but he didn't care much for alcohol, in this life or the last. "Yeah, a Seawing. Should be good for underwater missions." I told her as I changed my wings and showed her my new partial transformation as well. "So what's this I hear about a 'Katsumi' is she your girlfriend?" Cathleen asked, not poking fun or teasing him, just curious.
sigh" I already told you that-" "Yeah I know, but I'm asking you again, so now if you're lying I'll see it is your face." she interrupted with a tone and look that left no room for argument. On the opposite couch John and Abby also listened in as they had noticed the looks Katsumi kept giving Carter. "What are you two looking at?!" He snapped but they just snickered. "Just curious, that's all." Abby laughed as John tried his best to keep it together.
Carter rubbed his head exasperated as John broke down laughing, though Abby tried to cover her laugh, just a little. "No, she's not my girlfriend." he finally told Cathleen, "Why not? I've seen how she looks at you, I'm surprised she hasn't confessed yet." she asked and with a sigh Carter switched to English "She did confess." I say quietly as John and Abby stop laughing and Cathleen asks "What did you tell her?" she asks and I shake my head "Nothing, I stared at the stars and moon in silence."
"New Order." Cathleen suddenly says with a bright smile that doesn't quite reach her eyes, 'Shit I done fucked up!' I think as I throw more spells to reinforce my body as my partial transformation kicks in, but before she can dispense divine judgment upon her idiot son, they all freeze as a presence makes itself known outside.
"What the hell is he doing here?!" I yell as I run to the window, despite having little sense for the supernatural, everyone in the dorms snaps awake as they feel the heavy aura of whatever is outside their dorms, and it's not just them. All across the world chaos erupts, "Sir, energy spike in Japan!" a technician yells as his superiors runs over "Where in Japan, how big is it?" he demands as the answer chills him, "Our instruments can't go that high, it's right over UA." he wastes no time springing into action however "Get agents in the field NOW, we need to know what's happening. You get me a line to the Site Director."
Not all are alarmed however, for the Children are celebrating. Unholy hymns are being shouted as feasts and sacrifices are made, with fresh blood erupting from even the smallest of altars "ALL HAIL THE COMING OF THE HERALD!!" They scream as those closest to Japan feel a new power surge within them as their god gazes upon them and grants them gifts for their service.
"ALL HAIL THE COMING OF THE HERALD!" the beast roars as it thrashes about, the time has arrived for it to escape and spread the message of truth. As it breaks free from it containment room alarms go off, "SCP-682 has breached containment. This is not a drill, I repeat 682 has breached containment." The site trembled as the Site Director threw everything he could at containing the beast, he did not stay idle afterwards as he called for reinforcements and sent a team, which he personally lead to the site's nuclear warhead, and started the process to detonate it to give the others time to put it back in it's cage. "I WILL NOT BE BOUND ANY LONGER!" it screamed in rage as it tore through operatives with fury never before seen, and slowly it began to change, its rotted flesh slowly falling off as its body regrew from wounds inflicted in years gone by.
Back at UA, Cathleen and Carter had both transformed into their strongest forms as they stared down the man before them. Despite his power literally shaking the earth beneath him, he gave no indication of malice, in fact he was quite plain but with the feeling of death around him they didn't let their guard down. "Identify yourself!" Cathleen demanded as All Might and the rest of the UA staff arrived ready to fight, but the man just looked confused as if he didn't understand what she was saying and so Carter stepped forward and spoke in a language that no one else recognized, "Reign in your strength, your scaring them." he said as the man nodded sheepishly "Sorry man, just my first time out and about." the man said though only Carter could understand him, "Why are you here Dave?" Carter asked, still towering over him in his Nightwing form clearly not happy to see him, "We need to talk, boss mans got something for you." he said as Carter tilted his head confused "Oh not those other guys, no I got a new boss now." Dave clarified as he rolled up his sleeve and showed them the bright red mark on his forearm, it was the symbol of The Scarlet king.
