Creed woke up to the sweet scent of sunshine and a weirdly warm pillow under his cheek.
He blinked a few times, stretched his limbs out like a lazy cat, and instinctively reached across the bed, expecting to feel something soft, warm, and adorably clingy.
But his fingers grasped only cold sheets. Empty space. He turned his head, eyes adjusting to the faint morning glow sneaking through the curtains—and sure enough, Meredith was gone.
Just as he'd expected, she'd vanished back into the swirling black tattoo coiled over his chest like living ink.
Creed sighed, but not in a sad way. In a content, slightly smug, and definitely "I just had an amazing night" way.
He flopped back onto the bed, both hands behind his head, and let his mind wander.
