Mayor Richards watched the exchange with growing confusion.

Jasmine looked at the massive tree. Her healing abilities were her most carefully guarded secret.
Revealing them meant exposing vulnerabilities she'd spent years concealing.

"If I attempt this trial," she said finally, "what happens if I fail?"
Arthur's expression softened slightly. "Nothing harmful. The guardian simply denies access."
