Hadrian's bottle was now one third empty as he leisurely listened to the symphony, admiring the reflection of the scene within his wine glass. The grand melee in the Thorn District, the strategies of the various factions, the solitary scientist in a white lab coat and the official experts being held up single-handedly...
"This isn't good. Officials ought to maintain some dignity in front of the kids,"
Hadrian set down his glass and reached for the phone with a smile.
His hand remained on the receiver, but he didn't move further. Hadrian was no longer looking at his wine glass. His gaze shifted, penetrating the semi-transparent glass and watching the phantasm of the chaotic battle beyond.
The office door was open, and a guest had arrived.
Thump, thump.
The visitor remained silent, only tapping gently on the door.
"Oh my, long time no see!" Hadrian greeted with a smile.
