Chapter 201 - 193

Hall of Fame - Leave a Name!

On the big screen, the audience erupted in cheers as they saw Lily Carter leave her handprint on the Hall of Fame slate.

"Aaaaaaaaaah! I'm going crazy!"

"This is such a huge honor! Just this reward alone is better than any material prize the other players received!"

"OMG! I have to admit, I'm super jealous right now!"

"I'm so envious! Lily Carter, you made history!"

"When will Pokémon appear outside of Metro City? I want to compete with my Pokémon too!"

"Lily can be proud for a lifetime after this!"

The atmosphere was electric, and the live chat was flooded with excitement. The Pokémon competition's allure had never been brighter.

There was no doubt that once Pokémon became widespread across the country, Trainers would instantly become a cultural phenomenon. And now, with the first champion crowned, the popularity of Pokémon battles had skyrocketed.

"Woooo..."

Sarah Reed watched Lily Carter with teary eyes, biting her handkerchief pitifully. All her best friends had left their names in the Hall of Fame, while she had only managed to secure third place—and even that felt like a fluke.

"Woooo..."

Watching Lily Carter place her handprint on the slate, Jason Cole rubbed his face, trying to shake off his envy.

But honestly...

He was still incredibly jealous!

"Damn it! Next time, I'm taking that championship! This was just a local tournament—just a warm-up!"

"I, Jason Cole, will be the national champion! No, the world champion!"

...

As Lily Carter left her mark on the Hall of Fame slate, she looked at her handprint, still in a daze. At that moment, she felt as if she were floating.

"Now, let's take a photo of you and your winning Pokémon as a souvenir."

After the handprint ceremony, Michael Grant gestured for Diancie to step forward.

"Oh, oh..."

Lily nodded subconsciously, pulling out her three Poké Balls and releasing her Pokémon.

Lapras, Milotic, and Wartortle.

"Alright, everyone, strike a beautiful pose! I'm going to capture your most stunning moment!"

Diancie hopped forward with a camera, adjusting the focus as she spoke in a crisp voice to Lily and her Pokémon. She was a true professional!

"Woooo~"

"Kamei~!"

Milotic reacted first, elegantly gliding to Lily's left side, positioning itself in the prime spot. It lifted its head slightly, swayed its dazzling tail, and donned an elegant, calm, and noble expression.

Wartortle scowled at Milotic—how dare it steal the spotlight?!

Determined, Wartortle rushed to Lily's right and struck a proud, heroic pose with its hands on its hips.

Lapras watched the two and huffed. Seriously? They took the best spots and left it in the corner?!

Unwilling to be left out, Lapras shuffled next to Milotic, only to realize it was still not in the frame enough. With a final decision, it positioned itself behind Lily and raised its head high.

Lily looked utterly confused.

"Haha, these three are killing me with laughter!"

"Poor Lapras! It barely fits in the frame!"

"Milotic is such a diva, securing the best spot right away!"

"Wartortle's pose is adorable! It looks like it's dreaming of being a Squirtle Squad leader!"

"Screenshot! Screenshot! This is too good! And Diancie is so beautiful!"

The live chat exploded with laughter as Diancie pressed the shutter.

Click!

The champion and her team were immortalized in a single snapshot.

"I'll make copies of this photo. One will be displayed in the Hall of Fame, and another will go on the Pokémon House prize wall. If you'd like a personal copy, just let me know."

Michael Grant smiled at Lily.

He was planning to dedicate a wall in his store to champion photos so others could admire them later.

"Awesome!"

Lily beamed, realizing she'd found her new favorite photo. She was going to use it as her phone and computer wallpaper!

"Alright, Mr. Jason, you're up next."

Michael then turned to face the audience and the cameras with a smile.

"With that, the first Metro City Tournament has officially come to an end."

He continued warmly, "Thank you all for your support and love for this event. Maybe your favorite contestant fell along the way, but the dedication and passion they displayed for victory are unforgettable."

"Every player here is an outstanding Trainer. I've seen it with my own eyes."

"The bond between Pokémon and humans is what makes this competition truly beautiful. I've always believed that the connections we make—whether with people or Pokémon—are fated."

Michael tilted his head slightly and smiled. "So, which Pokémon will you meet and bond with?"

The audience erupted in cheers once more.

"I can't wait to find out! But Michael, give us a chance to meet Pokémon first! I don't even have one yet!"

"This speech is giving me chills! But then I remember—I don't even have a Magikarp!"

"I understand what you're saying, but I can't even enter Metro City! Where am I supposed to meet a Pokémon?!"

"Ahhh! I want to meet my true partner Pokémon too!"

The chat was flooded with excitement, though many lamented that Pokémon were currently only available in Metro City.

Michael smiled. "Thank you again for your support. I hope that in the next tournament, everyone watching now—whether in the stadium or at home—will be able to participate."

"I look forward to awarding you your prize one day."

He placed his right hand over his heart and bowed slightly. Beside him, Diancie gracefully curtsied.

The Metro City Tournament had come to an end!

As Michael scanned the crowd, a small smile played on his lips.

Task completed: First Pokémon Tournament successfully held. Task evaluation: Perfect.

Reward: A chance to draw from the Legendary Prize Pool. Claim now?

"Not now," Michael thought. He would claim his reward later, in private.

Meanwhile, the news of Lily Carter's victory spread like wildfire across the nation.

But inside…

"Boss, you're really not opening today?" Sarah Reed asked, peering through the one-way window at the growing crowd.

"Nope," Michael replied with a chuckle, sipping his water. "Most of them are just here to take pictures. I'll open tomorrow."

Jason grinned. "Fine by me. But first, I'm drawing a Pokémon!"
