Sakura went down the stairs toward the kitchen. She was still alone at home, which she found a bit strange.
Mom and dad must be working.
I didn't know Sakura's mom worked... Sakura commented. She went to the fridge to see what there was to eat and noticed it was almost empty. No ready food.
She normally doesn't work, but sometimes she helps an old lady at the bakery.
The pink-haired girl just replied with a "hm" and turned her attention back to searching for ingredients in the cupboards. She still didn't know exactly what she was going to make, but figured it out the moment she saw the tomato and cheese in the fridge and then flour on the counter.
What are you gonna make?
Pizza!
Pizza...?
It's simply one of the wonders of the world. The girl started cooking with so much focus that she didn't even notice when a tall man with cherry blossom–shaped hair showed up at the kitchen door.
Kizashi looked surprised to see his daughter cooking so seriously — and even more, a dish he had never seen before — but decided not to interrupt and just watched what Sakura was doing.
It didn't take long for the pink-haired girl to finish and put the food in the oven, wiping the thin layer of sweat from her forehead. Everything was ready. Now she just had to wait about 15 to 20 minutes and her hunger would be gone.
— What's this, Sakura?
— AAAAH! — Sakura screamed, startled, forgetting she didn't live alone anymore.
Her dad laughed at her.
— Sorry, didn't mean to scare you, little flower.
— It's okay. — Sakura calls him papa! — Dad.
— Dad? — Haruno made a sad face. I think my baby is growing up, the man thought.
— This is called pizza!
— Pizza? Hm... I've never heard of it before, but it smells good — Kizashi commented. He wasn't expecting much — God knew his daughter didn't have cooking skills — but the smell told him otherwise, and the man found himself getting his hopes up.
Before Sakura could answer, the sound of the front door opening echoed through the house, revealing that Mebuki Haruno had arrived.
— I'm home! Hm? What's that smell?
— Mebuki-chan, Sakura is cooking! — Kizashi rushed to tell his wife.
— Oh!
Sakura appeared in the living room where her parents were, her face slightly red. These people were making a big deal out of nothing. She had always cooked in her past life — it wasn't a big deal.
— I'm gonna take a shower — she said and headed back to her room.
The pink-haired girl took a hot shower, feeling her muscles relax. Then she put on more comfortable clothes and went back to the kitchen to turn off the oven.
— Lunch is ready!
Soon, everyone was sitting at the table, staring at the two big pizzas with their mouths watering.
— I hope you like it... — Sakura mumbled.
— Everything my little girl makes is good! — Kizashi laughed out loud.
Mebuki sighed at her husband. It was always like that — her daughter and she could serve him charcoal and he'd still be praising them.
— So, Sakura-chan, Mrs. Gyu said she saw you going to the ninja gear store. Do you need anything? — the blonde asked.
Sakura looked at the woman in front of her — who was now her mom. She looked tired and sleepy. Her face was already starting to show wrinkles, probably from worry, but aside from that, she was very beautiful.
— Hum... — the pink-haired girl murmured a confirmation. — I went to buy some things I'm gonna need now that I've become a genin.
Sakura answered. She had seen the ninja headband on her study desk earlier and asked Inner about it.
"Yep, we graduated and tomorrow we'll find out which team we're on. I hope I end up with Sasuke-kun!"
Was the answer Haruno got.
— Oh! And did you manage to get everything, little flower? Do you need more money? Daddy's got some saved up and he'll give it to you — Sakura's dad said quickly.
— No need... dad. — It was still strange for her to call someone that. She never had a dad before — it was always just her mom, her brother, and her. — You should use that money and take mom on a date — she said, serving a slice of pizza to both of them.
— Hump. This girl — Mebuki grumbled with a red face. — Tomorrow you'll find out which team you're on. Excited?
— Yeah! I can't wait! — Sakura replied, smiling. — I bought a new outfit, more appropriate for ninja missions.
— Oh, wasn't it expensive, dear?
— Hmhm... — Sakura shook her head.
— Alright — Mebuki agreed and took a bite of the pizza, sighing in surprise. — Wow, this is delicious, Sakura! Don't you think so, Kizashi?
Both women looked at the dark brown-haired man, who was too busy with two slices of pizza in his hands and his mouth full.
— Hm? Uhum! — Kizashi nodded eagerly, making Sakura laugh and the older woman sigh.
