The world reformed in fragments.
Light. Cold. Dust.
Leo hit the ground first, rolling across the cracked stone. Gerald landed next with a yelp, followed by Korrin, then Dexter and Keida. Trevor stumbled out last, breathing heavily as the portal behind them flickered and vanished.
The silence was immediate.
No voices. No chasing gods. No screaming walls. Just wind and the slow creaking of forgotten stone.
"Where... are we?" Gerald asked, pushing himself up.
They stood inside what looked like the remains of a ruined temple, books fused to the walls, massive broken quills embedded in the stone like weapons. Outside, a pale sky loomed overhead, full of unmoving clouds. Nothing in this realm felt real. The air tasted like ink and ash.
"We're not in the library anymore," Trevor said darkly.
Keida exhaled slowly. "Not entirely. We're in a splinter. A broken fragment between pages."
"A what?" Korrin asked.
