Chapter 152 - Chapter 152: Commanders To Fill Vacancies

'Hidden Quest Completed!: Successfully Defend Against An Invasion!'

'Rewards: 3x Medium-Level Commander Summon and 50,000 Store Points'

Victor was surprised to receive such rewards. He had not heard anything from Osterbon about the invasion. This was pleasant news; however, Victor was dying to know the details of what had happened.

Despite his lack of information, Victor was too entranced with his rewards to worry about how his army succeeded in defeating the Gu invasion forces. 'How long has it been since I have gotten a reward from the system,' Victor thought as he happily began to redeem his Medium-Level Commander Summons.

The first Medium-Level Commander Summon began its animation. Yellow mist filled the screen as a man wearing a red general's uniform approached. Upon closer inspection, Victor ascertained that the uniform belonged to a British General. The mysterious man had short grey hair and brown eyes. He seemed to be in his early 50s.

Victor was not quite able to recognise the figure, but when he saw his name appear after the animation finished, he was slightly repulsed. When the animation finished, the screen read, 'General Thomas Picton,' with 3 stars next to his name.

General Picton's military prowess was solid, but that was not why he was slightly repulsed. Picton was a brutal and cruel bastard when he was a colonial administrator in Trinidad. He committed atrocious acts of torture upon the locals, which caused him to be convicted back in England initially; however, the decision was later overturned when he argued that Trinidad was subject to Spanish law, which permitted the use of torture.

After that, Picton became a competent and brave General while serving under Field Marshal Wellesley. He was a part of the Peninsular Campaign and fought at the Battle of Waterloo. Acquiring Picton was not bad for Victor, but he was not a huge fan of him.

Wanting to quickly move on, Victor proceeded to use the second Medium-Level Commander Summon. Unfortunately for Victor, yellow mist appeared once again on the screen as the animation started. The mysterious figure approaching was not wearing a usual general's uniform; instead, the man wore a French Hussar's uniform while adorning a bicorn hat.

As he drew closer, the mysterious man became more noticeable. He had brown eyes that matched the colour of his short hair. On the man's face was a stylish and groomed moustache with its pointy tips facing upwards. He looked to be in his 30s

Victor grinned when seeing the man. He knew who it was before the animation ended. It was General Antoine Charles Louis de Lasalle, the Hussar General. For a man of his calibre, Victor was astonished that he was only a 3-star commander. This was a General who was known to be the bravest commander in the French Army.

General Lasalle was a fearless and inspiring cavalry commander who was deserving of respect and admiration. He had fought in Italy, Spain, Egypt, Germany and Austria. His death at the Battle of Wagram was a huge loss for France, but now he could bring his talents to the Luxenberg Army.

The 13th and 14th Corps now had capable commanders to lead them; all that was missing now was a commander for the 15th Corps. Victor did not hesitate to use the last Medium-Level Commander Summon. This time around, the animation started with orange smoke enshrouding the screen.

The man approaching wore a Russian General's uniform. He had grey, medium-length hair with hazel eyes. He looked to be almost 60 years old. At first, Victor thought he had managed to summon Mikhail Kutusov, but soon realised he was quite wrong.

In actuality, he had summoned a 4-star General named Fabian Gottlieb von der Osten-Sacken. This was a seasoned commander of the Russian Army who had spent many decades in its service. General Osten-Sacken had fought in the Russo-Turkish War, the Polish Uprising and the Coalition Wars. His decades of experience would be invaluable to the Luxenberg Army.

Victor was chuffed with these summons, albeit he was still feeling a little uneasy about summoning General Picton. With the addition of these new generals, all his corps now had commanders. It was also a bonus to get an additional 50,000 Store Points. They could come in handy at some point.

After using his summons, Victor opened the Overview Tab on the system to look at his territory. The statistics read…

'Domain Overview'

'Continents: 1

'Cities: 20

'Total Population: 31,923,584 People'

'Army Size: 525,000 Infantrymen, 75,000 Cavalrymen, 2,250 Cannons'

'Personal Army Size: 2,900 Infantrymen, 500 Cavalrymen'

'Fleet Size: 1 Flagship, 30 Ships Of The Line, 50 Third-Rate Ships, 10 Rocket Ships '

Next to the statistics was the map of the entire world. The only continent Victor could view was Bulgar. When he tapped the continent, it zoomed in and showed the entire layout of the continent. Victor could see all the cities on the map thanks to special markers. He could also see where all his corps and ships were. This was extremely helpful from a logistical perspective.

Victor made sure that General Picton was summoned to Osterbon. He would take over command of the 13th Corps. Field Marshal Wellesley would be reunited with one of his former subordinates, although they would have zero memory of their past lives. Victor did not have to issue any orders to General Picton; he could use the Overview Tab to assign him as the commander of the 13th Corps.

Generals Lasalle and Osten-Sacken would arrive at Hannover the next morning and assume command of the 14th and 15th Corps. With these new additions, one of Victor's issues had been resolved, but there was still much to be done. When news arrived at Hannover about the victory in the north, everyone rejoiced.

Defeating the Gu invasion force was incredible, yet it caused more issues that needed to be taken care of. First of all, the number of prisoners was a concern. Victor could see the total number of prisoners that had been acquired. There were too many of them to deal with. Osterbon's was already full, and cities such as Bismarck, Amsardam, and Inglefeller were soon to have prisoners arrive for their dungeons.

The easy answer to this was to either kill them or set them free. Killing them would be inhumane and cause problems for the kingdom. They could not set them free either; they did not have any boats to ferry them back to Simbar. This was an issue that Victor had to dwell on for some time.

"What to do with all those prisoners?"
