Chapter 109 - 108. The beginning of the war

Chapter 108

Evening of September 3rd.

"So what are we doing here?" Mordred asked lazily, half lying on the edge of the roof, and on the back of her red T-shirt the rune "Perto" was slightly shining, allowing us to keep our presence a secret from the masters and servants who were not too far away.

Where exactly are we? We are on the roof of the house that stands opposite the school where Tohsaka Rin and the local protagonist Emiya Shirou study.

"Well, we are here to make sure that everything goes as it should, and at the same time to get your father, the future master, into debt.

"And will this be connected with that girl?" Mordred asked, pointing to the roof of the school. And right there at that moment was Tohsaka Rin and the archer who had shown himself next to her, who were discussing one of the key points of a rather mediocre, but nevertheless dangerous for ordinary people barrier.

"Well, partially. Rather, if we weren't here, she would be the one to save our target.

- You mages always get clever where there's no need. - the girl knight grumbled. - If father's master is going to survive anyway, then why the hell should we interfere? I haven't finished playing through that, what did you call it?

- Devil May Cry 3 - I replied. - And we need it so that we can have a more peaceful interaction with Artoria with a higher probability.

- Ha! Do you really think that our meeting can go without a fight? Don't forget, I was the one who destroyed everything Arthur had. - Mordred said irritably.

- And yet, you actually admire your father. - I looked at her with a sly smile.

- I... What do you even know? - Mordred's face briefly flashed with embarrassment, after which she jumped up furiously.

- Quiet, quiet. - I put my palms in front of me. - I'm sure things are complicated between you and Arturia, and now you'd better look over there, there's already a mess brewing there.

And Mordred listened to me, just in time to see Archer, holding Rin in his arms, jump off the roof of the school, pursued by a new face that had appeared.

- Cu Chulainn, son of the sun god Lugh, and also a student of the queen of the country of shadows, Scathach. - I imagined the lancer, who was now standing opposite Archer in tight blue armor and with a blood-red spear at the ready.

- How do you know? - Mordred asked.

- From where do I know you and that your father will be called in this war...

- I see. - the girl knight nodded. However, I'm not done yet.

- From the Anime.

- ... Whaaat? - Mordred said indignantly and, perhaps, was about to start making claims, but the battle had already begun below.

A lancer with a spear and an archer with a one-handed sword, breaking the sound barrier in an instant, collided in battle, causing a loud ringing of metal colliding with each other.

And although according to the logic of classes, Archer should be weak in close combat, now he showed a rather unusual level of skills, not lagging behind the lancer at all.

- Master, are you sure that he is an Archer, and not at least a rider? - Mordred could not help but ask.

- Yes, he is an archer. It's just that his source is a sword. He can see the history of various blades, adopting the combat skills of their owners, and then projecting, albeit weakened, but still retaining the properties of the original weapon. And as a counterguard who has been in the service of the counterforce for a long time, he has seen many legendary weapons. - I smiled in anticipation, because, albeit briefly, I managed to notice how he used his magic to read the history of the spear, Cuchulainn. I doubt that repeating this spell will be more difficult than Satoru Gojo's infinity.

- And what is his name? Among the knowledge I received when summoning, there was no one like him in history.

- And there won't be. After all, he is not a hero of the past. He is a hero of the future. Emiya Shirou.

- Oh, his name is just like that kid you want to save. - Mordred said slightly surprised, while I was closely watching the battle between Archer and Lancer.

To be honest, the strength of the servants still exceeded my expectations, I knew that they were fighting at supersonic speeds, but here it was already starting to reach hypersonic speed! The shock waves from the collision of their weapons simply tore apart the asphalt beneath them. And gusts of wind threatened to demolish the fence tens of meters away from them. And hand on heart, I have to admit that without strengthening myself with electro, I will simply not be able to stand on an equal footing with them. And this shows more than ever how crazy it is that yesterday's high school student Emiya Shirou in the original story was suddenly able to reach a level sufficient to fight the servants head-on.

- Wait... - Mordred suddenly began to understand the absurdity of the situation, but there was no time for explanations, because there appeared...

- And here is our client. - I said, looking at the red-haired, fit boy, who first looked at the battle of the two servants in shock for a few moments, and then began to run away inside the school in fear.

- We need to change positions so as not to miss anything. - I said and grabbed Mordred by the shoulder and moved us to another roof, with a bark that opened up an excellent view from the window to the school corridor, where the unlucky boy had already been stabbed in the heart with a spear, and Lancer, unhappy with the fact that he had to get rid of witnesses on the orders of the master, left the school grounds.

- Um, master, as an experienced knight, I can say for sure that after such blows to the heart, no one lives. - Mordred shared with knowledge of the matter.

- And yet he is alive. - I grinned, watching how the gloomy Tohsaka Rin approached the dying boy. I heard every word she said perfectly.

- Rin, this is on your conscience. - She said to herself before sitting down next to the boy.

- Lancer pierced him with his spear and if he hit the heart, then there is nothing to help him. - At that moment, Shirou let out a barely audible groan, letting it be known that he was still alive.

- I'm sorry, I'll stay with you until your time comes. - Rin said with remorse in her voice, starting to turn the guy over onto his back, but seeing who it was, her face distorted with shock. Abruptly removing her hands from his body, she felt as if she was starting to lack air.

- Why are you doing this to me. Why were you here. Why did you end up here on this particular day and hour? - She clutched her face with her palms in despair.

- How will I look her in the eyes tomorrow. - Tears began to well up in her eyes.

- Don't be afraid. He'll be fine. - I said, appearing right in front of Tohsaka.

- You remember what I said, even if I have to grow half my body, I can handle it. - With a slight smile on her face, she placed her palm on Emiya Shirou's chest, and the next moment, as if it were a miracle, there was no trace of the wound left.

- Why are you helping? - Rin asked, seeing how easily such a dangerous wound was healed, but when she raised her head, she saw only an empty corridor.
